  1. The marshalling was poor and there was manual timing. The route was boring, but hey the end chute with the crowd was nice, maybe organisers should go and talk to Fritz Pienaar on how to put on a MTB race.
  2. I cancelled with Cyclesure, the 5% excess and additional 10% (For theft and Hijacking) that I had to forfeit when my bike was stolen left me worse off. I had to get cheaper bike than what I was insured for. So what should you do say a R50k bike Costs R58k so you can replace ur bike at its true value?. Now with Garrun Group, I at least pay less than Cyclesure.
  3. My Max HR has not changed in about 3 years. I had the tests done etc so it was all scientific. Now in the last week I have on 2 occasions gone over my max when previously it never happened. The increase over the max is 5%. Any Ideas?
  4. Thanks for the advice all, one thing I do know from this experience is that the Stinger After Sun Soother really works
  5. True, got a call from the guys at the store, stock has arrived.
  6. Mr M, Capestorm in Clearwater Mall doesn't not have doesn't know.....
  7. Got toasted in the overcast conditions on Saturday and rad006 got me the After Sun cream. The next day the burn was gone and so was redness. Also used the Athlete cream, I am a recent convert to shammy cream, gives a sting if there is open skin but then quickly it is gone and then relief!
  8. The problem is that the sun block with high protection that I use is sticky and then all the dirt sticks to you, Anyone know a product that is not sticky but gives adequate protection?
  9. Have used Crossmark and Conti Race and Mountain Kings. Crosmark is the best ito grip I feel more confident with them. The Mountain and Race Kings are not grippy and with Mountain Kings in the front the wheel washes out and then sort of grips. On Saturday I rode with my Conti's in the Mud and they do not clear mud at all. My ideal is Ignitors Front and Crossmarks back.
  10. Oh forgot the wheelset is XT. don't like Mountain Kings on the front of any bike but that is just personal.
  11. @crow as per ur Questions my replies: 1. Felt Virtue 1 2. Mostly XC 3. Northen Farm, Breedts Nek, Teak, Behind Roodepoort Botanical gardens (Silverstar Route) and some general dirt around my area/ 4. Suspension: F120 fit RLC Fork, RP23. XT FD, RD and cranks etc with Juicy brakes (think 7).
  12. I was fortunate enough to test ride the VF2 while Ngala 24 was away. My feedback is purely as a rider so not to technical: The bike looks better in real life. It is very stable with a nice suspension action. The angles/geometry on the bike suited me and it will be good for most types of riding and I found that she was rigid and responsive. I felt confident quicker than on my current ride and more confident on the technical areas as some full sussers tend to be to plush and then you loose the feel. The suspension is really good and provides great tracking and bump-absorption even though I did not change settings on the shocks much. Liked the fact that I could ride it confidently from the start. In all this is a great bike that will not let any rider down.
  13. They do, asked all the neccesary questions, the consultant said that it was just like my car if you crash it it is covered-I like that comparison.
  14. So I check the Payout from Cyclesure: 15% Excess on the Bike, made up of 5% Excess and an additional 10% excess for Theft and Hijacking. =R5700 that is one helluva excess. Did u know that this is what Cyclesure was doing with stolen bikes, got a quote from my household and the excess is a flat R1000. Guess who just lost a customer.
  15. So Cyclesure has sorted me out, good service just that 10% excess clause for Stolen and Hijacked Bikes was a nasty surprise. The only one who looses all the way is the victim.
  16. This is Classic, I was away from home when it happened and I phone the Honeydew Cops, they say they only come out if they have to take Fingerprints and as there is none they wont come. This morning before I leave for work, it's lites and sirens etc, we are here to take your statement. Gotta luv ineptitude and competence mixed into one.
  17. She was the same as we did the Silverstar mtb race, the tokens are still safe in the garage, I hope!
  18. Some other distinguishing features: Water Bottle cage is a Specialized. Has a Polar sensor on the front shock. Has Maxxi s Ignitors in the Front and Crossmarks at the back.
  19. Hi all, So it happened, my bike is now a statistic. Felt Virtue 1 White Some distiguishing features: Red KCNC Seat clamp Short stem Bontrager Handlebars SRAM XO shifters and RD with XT FD. Stolen in the Little Falls area this morning with my Bell Sweep Helmet, Rudy Glasses and Northwave shoes.
  21. My Dr told me: If it is the chest NO Riding, If it is the Sniffles train but at max 60% of HR. Would ask a Dr if I were u rather than have us mere mortals speculate about your health.
  22. What I do with mine is wind the strap around my stem a couple of times, not the best but a solution. I use my Polar still and my N79 just to record the Route.
  23. This was one of the better interviews and discussions. AM had a valid opinion and TI handled it really well. As for Bos he should face the consequences.
  24. Nice to meet everyone in the flesh, you sort of have a mental picture/paradigm of who the names and avatars are (Thought Ianj was a Dr). Yes it was COLD. Punctured for the first time and WW and Slave came to the rescue as my brain was to frozen to remember to take tubes etc. The second puncture made me decide -not my day. Then got in the backup vehicle with Trubie's son who showed real composure driving in unfamiliar surroundings. So in all a great day out and thanks to Agteros for the arrangements.
