  1. Ta, i ride a Silverback Modanine 29'er, best value for money for the R15000 i paid.
  2. Looks good and ideally low maintenance, certainly better than PnP/Makro bike rubbish. Suggest fitting tire liners for added puncture resistance.
  3. I'm not doubting her time, D batch was the 1st official start group for open ladies.
  4. Even then
  5. Rumor has it you doing a nekked lap.
  6. Well then not only is she a strong rider, but also possesses amazing riding skills, i started in H group and constantly had to weave between cyclists, starting in HH would require much more.
  7. Not too far from my workplace.
  8. Cycle Link is another option, based in Fourways. Club membership for 2012 is an annual fee of R200 per rider which includes your Cyclelink Club membership as well as CGC and CSA affiliation and membership fees. The club shirt is an additional R250 but not compulsory. The club offers recreational and upgrade to competitive racing license for category riders at R350. 2012 membership has opened and it will cover all races from now until December next year. http://www.cyclelink.co.za
  9. I buy them and read them travelling on the Gautrain, much better than staring at other passenger or out the window.
  10. When i attend meetings i like to subtly glance at my watch to see how long its gonna drag on before its over, nothing subtle about pulling out a cellphone to check.
  11. Not sure what the reference to 26 or 29 is, unless Garmin does not work on one or the other.
  12. Probably because i was seeing red, but i cant recall riding over a timing mat about halfway along the route as previous years.
  13. 2nd and 3rd you can understand, D was the 1st batch for open seeded ladies and # racing tandems, but agree HH time is suspect.
  14. Beurer PM40 watch that Racing Spartan was selling.
  15. Cool video.
  16. They did announce at the start that you could purchase a racetec chip.
  17. Omni was there on site arranging everything except the camping which Wendell organized (and charged for). Correction, there were ample free camping site spaces available, i had a free spot less than 100m from the transition area and i arrived quite late at the venue. The other points you mention about complaints with issues such as riders walking across the tracks i cannot relate, nor do i recall reading or hearing anything about it. In my experience, the route, venue and facilities were much better than when the event was held at N/Farms. Anyway good luck to both, i'm sure there will be plenty of comments from riders and their experience of the event they chose.
  18. Sure thing :D
  19. Going tomorrow.
  20. I'm asking nicely ..no pictures please.
  21. .
