  1. More money is being spend on masking agents to get away with doping than there is spend on finding a cure for cancer.
  2. I am not a fan of the bladed spokes, I had a set of Mavic wheels on a 26er and whenever I stood up to put the power down the wheels flexed so much that it touched the sides of the fork. Now with a even bigger wheel I doubt that it will be any better.
  3. I thought that if Pog was "unfit" he would have suffered in the first 2 weeks to stay with Jonas and him coming into the tour a bit uncooked could potentially help him in the final week as he should be a bit fresher with less racing in his legs. It does seems like he really struggles in the heat, both the TT and yesterday's stage was quite hot and I think that is what eventually took its toll on him.
  4. Highly unlikely yes. but not impossible. Jonas might get sick/crash or have a really bad day.
  5. The race is far from over, yes it will take a super human effort to unseat Jonas, but he might have a bad day on Saturday, there is still 5 catogorised climbs on saturday and Pog might come out better. I do not doubt that he will attack like crazy on Saturday. He does not look like someone that will give up.
  6. JV countered and have two of their own in the break as well.
  7. UAE has moved 2 of their riders up the road, I expect a long distance attack from Pog today
  8. His TT reminds me of the final TT Pogacar had to beat Roglic on the penultimate day of the 2020 TdF. It looked unbelievable and no one expected that from him.
  9. I expect Sepp Kuss to play a much bigger role during the tour and could potentially be JV second leader, especially with the minimal amount of TT in the tour. He saved himself during the Giro this year, only working for Roglic on one or two occasions.
  10. Probably a lack of the same equipment that got him that 4 tour victories, the same stuff that Wiggins got in the jiffy bag perhaps?
  11. School boy rugby is a big problem. The micro doping is still a thing and if you started with it way early in your career before you turn pro and have a biological passport as required, then there is really no way to pick it up, you will just have insanely great numbers from a early age on.
  12. @Vetplant I agree 100% with what you are saying. I guess in a team sport it is easier to hide a doper. As for athletics and cycling it is way easier to stand out from the crowd. I just really find it hard to believe that a cyclist can be so much better than the rest that he wins almost every race he enters. Back in the Armstrong era almost the entire peloton was using some kind of an enhancer. I cannot remember the year, think it was 2003, that out of the top finishers in the tour the France the first cyclist whose name has not been linked to a doping scandal ended up 27th. A lot have been said about cycling being cleaner since the Armstrong era but I honestly do not believe that is the case. There is also some doubt about Wiggins and the Jiffy bag saga. So I honestly think team sky was US postal on "steroids'"
  13. Like a true politician, we only address what is in the subject line. Probably, I do not think the cycling has cleaned up its act at all and I doubt it will ever do. The riders and doctors have just gotten better at masking it. But I guess as they say, lets just pretend to live under a rock and enjoy the "sport" for what it is.
  14. There is no way that Pog is clean. The last time someone has won so convincingly was a certain mister Armstrong, and he at least made it look like he only trained for TdF.
  15. Can someone explain what this is to the average joe on the street that does not have a masters degree in engineering?
  16. I recently ordered some coffee from some new roastery up in Polokwane, I must say, they know what they are doing and their coffee is well priced. I used to order either Truth or Portland project for my bean to cup machine but I must say, these beans are way better especially the Ethiopia Medium Roast. give them a try, you won't be disappointed - https://www.bunbun.co.za
  17. Majority of cycling stuff is overpriced... it is seen as a luxury item and people tend to not think twice when spending on their hobbies. I don't know how many Sworks I have seen on my local trails with riders on it not capable of pushing the bike to its limits and well over the weight limit of a professional rider, they will not notice the performance difference if they where on another bike but still they are not shy to spend 150k plus for a bike, when a Titan valued at 50k would give them the same experience. Then some shops also make a killing, just the other day I saw a pair of mtb bike shoes normal price of R7500 going for 20% less and I suspect the bike shop is still making at least a 30% profit on the lower advertised price. In short, cycling stuff is so damn expensive because we are willing to pay so damn much for it.
  18. I would go to my LBS now and buy some Valve extenders if I can have those beer coupons...
  19. Where do one buy the Monton bibs. I have seen a .com site but always unsure of scammers. The popup adds on facebook has caught me out once with a set of earphones.
  20. Hotspot Cycles has a good wheel builder. I was quite impressed with their service as well, I had to replace my hubs on my wheels and it happened during covid, Decided to build a complete new wheelset, but no one could source a set of rims within my budget. So I had the Hubs fitted on my old rims, Mauritz refused to do it on the one rim as their were cracks along the spoke holes, he replaced it with another rim of similar quality and use without charging me as he could not find any new ones within the budget. Will recommend them for services as well.
  21. Thank you. I will give that a try
  22. I need some technical assistance. I have a treadmill that has Bluetooth functionality that I am unable to switch off, right next to it is my Volt indoor trainer. So my issue is, when someone of my family uses the treadmill and I am on the indoor trainer, the indoor trainer connects automatically to the treadmill which creates massive confusion when using Zwift. Yesterday I was sitting on the indoor trainer without pedaling and the cadence and watts started jumping like someone on tik. My question is, any way of sorting this problem out, the autoconnection to the treadmill and interference it runs with the indoor trainer, without using a hammer on the treadmill? Moving it to a different room is not a option, and I would like to be able to use my indoor trainer while the treadmill is operational. Any advice would be great..
  23. Wonder if this will make any difference when you travel at 60km/h plus and your bike starts with that annoying speed wobbles or help on a sinkplaat road. For someone with one weak arm I guess this will help me alot.
  24. Good day All. I recently saw the ON CLOUD shoes, and I really like the look of it. Anyone on here that have used them and can give some feedback on how they perform etc? I do mostly trail running when I do not cycle but also the occasional road run just for training purposes.
