  9. An exert from an IOL article Ellis, however, said she was told by staff at the municipality that unless potholes were reported, there was no way the department would know about them. This was one of the grounds on which her claim was rejected, she was told. The rejection letter stated that no negligence could be attributed to eThekwini. "But we pay our taxes for them to keep roads and other services in working order," she said. Ellis said it was disappointing that despite the public paying rates and taxes for the upkeep of the city, the onus lay with people to report potholes. She said it was an unfair system, because there was no way to determine whether the city was aware of the pothole, on which grounds the claim could be processed. Hobson said the call centre kept records of reported potholes and work orders and inspection records were recorded by the department's operations centre.
  10. Not entirely true - there are a set of rules which are applied before a claim will be entertained by the municipality in question. They need to have been made aware of the pothole beforehand and will only pay out if they have not made the repair within a certain period of time after the report. There is documentation which needs to filled out when reporting the pothole and so forth. In other words they wait for the public to report it and only then do they take action - they do not have people driving around all day looking for potholes. This makes it very difficult to claim as you don't know if the pothole has ever been formally reported and they are certainly not going to tell you if it has. Also claims for pothole damage must be accompanied by proper documentation - good luck with this it is easier to go to HiQ and pay the R500 to get your rim straightened.
  11. Lmao - you don't - women are specially hormonal at this time - take it on merit, it's difficult to say

  15. The thing is a marriage is exactly to sound clichéd a give and take. I don't want to sound like the perfect guy but here is what works for me and my wife. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday - my training days Wednesday, Thursday - her spinning days I make sure that by the time she gets back from spinning class that I have picked up my daughter from school, have cooked dinner and taken care of all the chores at home. On Saturday's and Sundays when I return from my ride I am outside with my daughter keeping her busy and allowing my wife some time to relax and enjoy her weekend. My training days during the week she needs to do as I do on her training days. Everyone needs their space and the secret is also to never give up your cycling time cause you will never get it back. As much as you want to just kick back and fall asleep on the couch after a hard ride that is a no no, you need to spend the quality time with your family and just hope that at some stage during the day they are going to want to sleep so that you can get in the shut eye you need. If not just suck it up and have fun with them - life is short after all!!
  16. Not me, it does change a bit when you have kids - I suppose it's like anything in life just be responsible and weigh up every situation on it's merit. Also I bought my wife a bike and encourage her to go spinning twice a week - not only does she not get fat (happens with wives) but she can now also have a lot more in common with me and have an understanding of why I do what I do.
  17. Just drink a beer, in fact have a few you won't have any problems with sleeping

  20. Very nice but my bank refused my applications for a second and third bond. Silly question though why is one Campy and the other Shimano - does the manufacturer not sign deals with only one component company - or have I just answered my own question? Could you get a Sky bike with Campy and visa versa?
  21. Yup do that please. Remember it is not only for the nether regions to prevent saddle sores and infections but can be used on sore muscles after that hard ride. So slap it on the legs and feel better in the morning We also have Stinger UV Gel which will help cure that sunburn as well as any minor burns.
