  1. Must say that Raleigh look like they have taken 10 steps backward when it comes to the design department. A few years ago they made pretty decent looking bikes at good prices nowadays they make really bad looking bikes at hectic prices. I really think that you will find better value for money in other brands and some style to go with it.
  2. How do you get the buck to lie so flat?
  3. The Winkler Hotel, about 3km's from the start with reasonable prices.
  4. Jacaranda this weekend is the last race for seeding so you will only get 94.7 seeding prob about the end of 1st week of Nov
  5. Lance Hoffmeyer????
  6. Good proper healthy food.
  7. Creatine is not a PED of choice for a cyclist. See it's uses up top "quick explosive bursts of activity" which is why it is popular in sports like Rugby where there is stop start and the added "bulk" comes in handy.
  8. You never really thought about this post did you?
  9. Yes agreed - this is merely an indication. Each of these "types" of PEDS consist of many many drugs each with their own unique side effects.
  10. One is a TT bike - I think there is no need for any further elaboration
  11. I have done my best to give a breakdown of the different "types" of PED's and what advantages they would give athletes that take them. To often people take PED's to savor the glory of winning however what they fail to realize is that there are higher prices to pay. You will notice some of the classes are not on or form part the banned list but I have included them as there are risks nontheless due to lack of long term studies. I am no doctor so my list may be incomplete. These are very general side effects (hopefully enough to deter you). Anobolic – Androgenic Steriods Why are they taken? Increase muscle mass and strength Side Effects Men may develop: Prominent breasts Baldness Shrunken testicles Infertility Women may develop: A deeper voice An enlarged clitoris Increased body hair Baldness Both men and women might experience: Severe acne Liver abnormalities and tumors Increased low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (the "bad" cholesterol) Decreased high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (the "good" cholesterol) Aggressive behaviors, rage or violence Psychiatric disorders, such as depression Drug dependence Infections or diseases such as HIV or hepatitis if you're injecting the drugs Inhibited growth and development, and risk of future health problems if you're a teenager Diuretics Why are they taken Diuretics decreases an athlete's body weight, helping them to compete in a lighter weight class.Diuretics may also help athletes pass drug tests by diluting their urine. Side Effects Dehydration Muscle cramps Exhaustion Dizziness Potassium deficiency Heart arrhythmias Drop in blood pressure Death Creatine Why is it taken? Creatine helps muscles make and circulate more adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which stores and transports energy in cells, and is used for quick, explosive bursts of activity. Creatine also delays muscle fatigue. Side Effects Stomach cramps Muscle cramps Nausea Diarrhea Weight gain Kidney damage when taken in high doses Liver damage when taken in high doses Stimulants Why are they taken Reduce fatigue Suppress appetite Increase alertness and aggressiveness Side Effects Nervousness and irritability make it hard to concentrate on the game. Insomnia can prevent an athlete from getting needed sleep. Athletes may become psychologically addicted or develop a tolerance so that they need greater amounts to achieve the desired effect, meaning they'll take doses that are much higher than the intended medical dose. Other side effects include: Heart palpitations Heart rhythm abnormalities Weight loss Tremors Mild hypertension Hallucinations Convulsions Heart attack and other circulatory problems Growth Hormones Why are they taken Increase lean body mass and improve athletic performance Side Effects Soft tissue edema Joint pain Carpal tunnel syndrome Fatigue Acromegaly Premature death (in case of acromegaly) Heart enlargement (due to prolonged use of HGH. Can't be reversed) Low blood sugar with risk of going into a diabetic coma Excessive hair growth all over the body Excessive water retention Liver damage Thyroid damage Gene Doping Why is it done? Increase muscle mass Build endurance Allow more oxygen delivery into the system Reduce pain perception Increase the number of red blood cells Side Effects Death if incorrect techniques are used in administration
  12. MY suggestion to all of you - phone CSA and ask them if you have a problem with the current system. Hopefully they don't refer you to your club.
  13. Symantics
  14. Why do you need a TV license, I don't need to deal with the SABC? Actually I have never had to deal with SANRAL either and I need a license to drive my car as well as a license for my car. You have never needed CSA because the clubs have been dealing with them since 1975, you still don't need CSA because the clubs are still dealing with them in 2010. Fact of the matter is that this is the way it is deal with it or don't - go take up micro liteing - oh **** you can't do that cause you need a pilots license This is a ridiculous and pointless conversation.
  15. Because CSA don't have the time or resources to deal with 100 Thousand individuals
  16. Dude you are being unreasonable, why should the onus be on them to follow up on your indecisiveness to race or not? There will be an admin cost for them to monitor who needs upgrades and who doesn't and it ain't gonna cost 5 bucks - besides you need to submit a photo and fill out some indemnity forms before you will receive your Membership Card. But as stated previously go and discuss this with your club and they can put forward your idea to CSA - that is what they are there for!!
  17. See this is exactly why CSA wants everyone to belong to a club - go and discuss this with your club and get the facts!!
  18. I am also not sure what the big who ha is about. The fun riders can take out a day license - you are allowed 3 a year, most fun riders don't even get to 2 a year. If you are doing more than 3 races a year then you are NOT a fun rider. The Membership allows you to race all year around without incurring any additional fees. You are required to belong to a club and they will advise you that you don't need a racing license so no confusion. Club fees are reasonable, mine for instance is R220 per year. Some clubs are far more expensive but that is your choice to pay premium or not.
  19. Ricky stop moaning - **** ever since you have gone to Ireland that's all you have done - moan moan moan, must be the weather - come back to Sa so you can return to normal
  20. R75 bucks gets you a membership (cyclosport license) and that is all you need. You don't have to do the upgrade to a full racing license. I think it has been 75 bucks for the last 3 years so no increase to the best of my knowledge.
  21. Didn't read the whole thread but you should only switch your Garmin on outside, once switched on you need to leave it stationary until it has picked up the satellites and is on the default screen. Switching on inside will give you an incorrect reading and the speed "jumps" as well as position and elevation errors in your workout. Hope this helps.
  22. Rather try a product called "No Hair" it comes in a pink bottle and is half the price of veet and works in only 5 minutes. There is also one in a white bottle with a blue lid - look around the veet area in the supermarket and you will find it there.
  23. My point is more that if you haven't worked with carbon before don't start by building bits that take stress.
  24. Cause when the carbon she break - she break without the warning - when she break without the warning you breaka your face So unless you know what you are doing I would not suggest that you just manufacture stuff from carbon - it's just not in the same league as cutting off an aluminium pole.
