  1. As long as you don't have lacy thongs in your drawer who cares what the cleaning lady sees in your drawers. WRT packing at home. I have started the habit lately of packing my work clothes and cycling kit before I go to bed. I get things done earlier and less chance of forgetting stuff.
  2. My MTB disks are so bloody noisy at the moment that I never use the bell at the moment. I just pull the brakes and pedestrians run like rabbits.
  3. Also see one in my future.
  4. This works like a charm ... trust me. On my 70min + commute I sweat like a race horse and "wash" myself with this.
  5. Klink soos die helfte van die parliment
  6. That is good news. This week will be the first full week of work in a long time. Next week I have another 3 days leave and then I will be focused on this challange again.
  7. Hi Natasha, I would start with mountain bike and then you will soon see what works best for you. There are so many options and all goes down to personal choice. You will most propably change the way you commute in anyway as soon as you get into the swing of things so you might be changing your route and that would make a impact on what bike you would like to use. Or in my case I have a roadbike route and a mountain bike route. My MTB is setup for rainy weather with mud guards and disk brakes. My roadbike is my good weather bike. But I might also pull out the MTB on the good weather days and take route on dirt road to work. I envy you as to where you will be cycling. My favourate area in SA is the Garden route so you will most propably be making a detour or two in the time to come. I would also suggest you start reading this thread from the start as there are loads of good advice in it.
  8. Congrats and welcome to the awesome club and although we are almost halfway through the year don't forget to join the commuter challange. You can set yourself a base to work on for next year. I will not even consider riding in work clothes even on a very short commute. But that is because I sweat like a race horse especially in summer here where it can get very humid (like this morning). Last year on one summers day I had to do a quick commute to the SA Embassy here in Munich. It was 32 degrees. I cycle in my "work clothes" at I was properly soaked after the 4 km very easy commute.
  9. Commuting sure adds milage to the bikes. New bike already has its first 1000 km done and dusted.

Yip I was also part of the masses that flocked to Checkers for that. As a aviation fanatic and Airwolf fanatic it was a double score for me.
  19. Can't say as I never tried such a thing before. Just once did a fitness assesment with a special mask and thought I was going to die. My mouth aint big enough to let enough air through to the lungs as it is. Will not try and inhibit it in anyway.

If I have to be honest, I think I have given myself more "Oppies" on the bike in the last couple of years than I had in my days doing military service.

    Who remembers?

I remember when I was very small there was a TV series "CHiPs". We wouldn't miss an episode. Many years later they had a rerun of the series. Could not beleive I wasted a part of my childhood watching that nonsense.
