    Who remembers?

Silverton. But the last year of highschool I lived almost next to Wilgers (yip close to Limelight which later became Presley's) I think.

    Who remembers?

That was the place to go when I was in High School. Weekend nights that place was packed. Also the reason why the "Freedom fighters" tried bombing the place in the late 80's. Luckily the guys selected to the job was not so clued up and blew himself up while setting up the limpet mine long before the crowds arrived.
  3. When I was still working in Pretoria, our offices were 4 floors under ground. I would not normally use the left if there are other people using it as well. I would then rather take the stairs. But with a stop at the other floors and me running up the stairs with the bike on the shoulder it often happened that I would be at the top before the rest of the crowd in the lift. The view on their faces when they walk out of the building and I am already outside was always very entertaining.
  4. Jeez. Sorry to hear. Hope you heel up soon and good luck with the recovery.
  5. That is how he does a cabinet reshuffle

    Banana Joe maybe?
  10. Afternoon commute home.
  11. I hope they build bridges better than in Italy.
  12. The irony is that according to law the light is too bright for use on the road as a bike light but at least I can dim it down in town or when required. But I needed something very bright when cycling through the forested areas to give me a fighting chance to spot a deer or a squirrel when they come bolting out of nowhere.
  13. Very popular amongst the German cyclists.
  14. I will propably not buy any other material bottle cage other than carbon. My carbon cages I have bought has outlived all the material cages by ages. Well worth the money spent especially if you scored some on a sale.
  15. Morning commute to Munich ...
  16. Think I finally got a descent bike light. Have been going through many different types over the years. Decided I need something really good this year. Have been looking around for some time to find something that is good and with the right price. Till last week I found a special at online shop in Austria. Bought this for 84€. I am very happy with what I got. All the boxes are checked. Various settings for very bright for dart forested roads to dim in city traffic.Single Unit (I do not like this battery hanging between the legs on the frame. You know I have a canyon and it might crack the frame )Long lasting battery (that seems hard to find)USB ChargableWater resistant Seems like it even punches a hole in the fog
  17. When she was informed she said now she has a disability. I said to her it is no disability, you are only different and we just need to learn how to manage these differences and she would still be able to live a normal life.
  18. Thanks. Not as bad as it sounds but it does affect her social skills and speech to quite an extend. But now that we have a diagnosis we have a direction to work and the diagnosis opens doors to extra support from medical aid and other social support branches. She is still at a government school but to a new one where the teachers have been trained to deal with Autism. There are 4 other kids with Autism in the school.

I can't even fit into my Air Force browns (ok that was dumped prior to comming to Gemany) not because I was too fat (Yes I picked up weight but lost most of it) but because I actually still grew quite a bit well past the age of 18. I still bought a fance jacket for functions when I started working in IT when I was 22. Man was I ticked off when a year later I had to dump the jacket as my arms still grew a couple of cm's
  20. The kids ... always a tough one when moving. German schools are not easy for new kids. That seem to be a given. Both kids took a bit of time to adapt and they missed their friends in SA especially in the beginning. The youngest adapted very well in the end and has a very good social life at school. The new school year started this week and she was extremely exited to go back to school. The oldest had it very tough. She was mobbed (bullied) pretty badly. She was however diagnosed with Autism 2 months ago which almost makes sense. We noticed odd things in SA already and she has been to several therapist and speech therapists and nobody picked it up. Looking where we are now I am very glad we are in Munich as Munich apparently is one of the cities in Germany that has the strongest support system/organisations wrt Autism. We are still learning how to go about it.

Yip we also had the "light" model. I was about 3 or 4 years old when we got it. Still vaguely remember the day we got it. And also served us till I was 17. I still remember we moved house and my parents decided after the move it is time to replace the old TV. On the day the new TV would have been delivered (or collected) I still switched on the old TV to watch the morning cartoon before going to school, the tube blew and that was it for the old Sony.
