    Who remembers?

My first car was a 1982 model Audi 5S. Was a brilliant car. Served me well before written off by someone who did not quite understand the concept of red traffic lights.

  12. So yesterday on my commute home I learnt that some peeps really do get uptight if tuck into their slipstream. Here I was commuting on my 29er with thick fat knobly tyres. Along comes some dude who passes me with his yellow Pinarello. And I reckon yippee, some slip to help pull me home quicker. Now I should mention at this point that in the three years here in Germany I have never had an issue with having someone sitting in my slip or me sometimes using someone others' slip. So it was only a few seconds that it took for Mr Canary Pinarello to realise he got a passanger. Like someone stuck an electric rod up his @ss he dropped a few gears and hammered down the pedals. I though yipee we are going to go fast today so I followed suit and still had a comfortable slip. Now at this point I think he really got p!ssed, propably the sound of the fat 29er tyres overwhelming his thoughts or something but he pretty much soiled himself and started bitching at me. I just told him that life is too short to live with an attitude like that. Never thought someone could react like that if you sit in their slip. He should also practice smiling again and I then proceeded to drop him and went home.

  21. In Germany the normal ebikes are limited (by software) to max 250w and 25km/h. When it hits that the rider must go over it with is own ability. You can buy stronger / or setup stronger motors but then you need a little license for insurance purposes and the bike is actually classified as a light vehicle.
  22. My co-worker that sometimes commutes with me is still laughing at a funny incident we had last summer. Him and I were commuting to work on our MTBs when we passed an older guy on his e-bike. We slowly caught up with him and then he stayed in our slip for quite some time until the road turn up to a hill. As the hill started my co-commuter started taking strain and the ebiker immediatly shot past us with the words "nice to have a motor". I caught up to him and pass him with the words "nice to be younger".
  23. It boils down to the attitude of the drivers. You would be surprised how narrow many of the country roads are here in my valley. There is hardly space for two cars. Even when two cars approached they have to slow down a bit and maybe a tyre must go slightly off the side of the road. Let alone pass cyclists. But normally they wait untill it is save to pass. Yesterday on my commute home I was cycling on a narrow road and a youngster was approaching from the opposite direction and in my opinion way too fast. I just shouted "slower" and he immediately hit the brakes and slowed down.
  24. And then we have this campaign running here ... https://www.trendsmap.com/twitter/tweet/987381612621987840 Sorry it is in German but basically motorists are reminded to make a "bow" around cyclists when passing even when cycling two abreast.
