Morning commute in Autumn morning fog. My camera skills suck so don't quite catch the moment.

Yip it is this time of the year (and spring) where you really experience the difference between the weather here and SA at the most. You could have a lovely sunny day and on your ride home in the afternoon you have low lying fog all over the place and riding through that it cools down very quickly. Since I started cycling here I have learnt rather to have one layer extra on and be slighly warmer than being caught out and getting cold very quickly.

Learnt this morning that you must never underestimate foggy weather and the effect the dampness can have on your brakes. We had quite a bit of fog this morning, which is very nice to cycle through forested areas but then came the point where I had to use my brakes. Almost caused a problem going around a corner.

We have one stil, but somewhere in the move to Germany the disk thingies got misplaced. It is somewhere in the cellar but currently that place is like the Bermuda Triangle.

No it won't. Their bike rides would have been a group ride with about 20 armed body guards in black lycra on black bikes and blue flashing led lights on the handlebars pushing all other bike riders off the road.

Unfortunately my wife's bike ride took her on an unplanned helicopter ride yesterday. Went out for a casual road ride when she wiped out at fairly low speed but hit her head hard on the road. Concussion, broken elmbow and had to spend the night in ICU for observation due to a small amount of bleeding in the head (not the brain itself from what I understand).

Winding up the window or jacking the car up?

Commuting 350 km per week I am not too worried at the moment. In winter I might pull the brakes ... a bit. He He but not drinking every day. I actually also normally stick to weekends but with this heat we had over the last couple of weeks I end up drinking so much liquids (especially water) that an extra beer or two in the week is not going to hurt as you will sweat it out in minutes.

Bugger that. I realised when I came to Germany I missed out on some lekka beer here (especially white beer). So I am 40 years behind schedule so not going to catch up if I only stick to weekends.

All you need is a doublecab canopy and it would qualify as a truly SA horse.
