  1. After my question yesterday in this thread: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/188538-need-some-advice-on-shimano-ultegra-shifting-issue/ It is pretty evident that I need to replace my shifting cables. No problem. So I looked on trusty old GCN how to replace inner frame cables. I see in this video, they use this hose to push up with the cable. Does anyone know where you would buy something like this or what do I need to google for to get hold of something like this.
  2. Since Covid hit, bike suppliers in Germany just could not keep up with demand.
  3. Nah. Not the way I ride in anyway. I don't aero tuck for several reasons: A) I can't B) How does a soccerball aero tuck? Hit a rock at almost 50 km/h this morning and the bike took it on the chin. The front tyre not. Pretty good bike in my opinion.
  4. One of the first things I did. What I should confirm if after doing that see if I can push the derailer to the top and check that it does go all the way to the top.
  5. Kyk meer die kant toe ... https://www.canyon.com/en-de/road-bikes/race-bikes/aeroad/aeroad-cf-sl-8-disc/2448.html?dwvar_2448_pv_rahmenfarbe=BU%2FBU
  6. Chain and casette has been replaced and is well maintained. As I said the shifting between the other 10 gears is smooth and faultless. Just that it did not go all the way.
  7. Used to commute daily past there in the mornings direction to the circle and then up Eeufees then into town. Fairly obvious my commuting days were numbered.
  8. Thanks for the offer. Will have to take a rain check on your offer though. I am about 11 hours north from you ... by plane
  9. I have a spare hanger. Bought it with the bike. And the shifting at the moment is perfect but only with 10 gears. Thanks for the advice. Cable replace is the first step.
  10. I used to religiously replace cables every year but never took on the job with this bike as I have not dealt with inner frame cables before. Time to sort that out.
  11. I will have to check the 11 clicks. Would the shifter only click 11 times if there is no cable tension? New cables are there so just replacing them would not be a bad idea. What lube would you use for the cables? Normal chain lube? Mention the obvious as obviously I am missing something, thanks.
  12. For some background: I bought my bike now almost three years ago with Shimano Ultegra on it. In three years the shifting has been faultless. I have never had to fine tune anything on it. It just worked. Take note. I have also never replaced the cables. The cables are also running inside the frame. About 3-4 weeks ago I noticed while cleaning and checking on the bike, that the chain does not go onto the very small gear at the back. So I am just riding on 10 of the 11 gears. I is obvious that that must have been the case for a long time as there is sign of wear on the small gear. I did not worry about it too much and thought it is propably just the low marker or something that prevents it from going all the way down. I will fix this on a weekend somewhere. So Friday morning on my way out on my early morning ride, the bike tipped over while it was leaning agains the wall and fell on the floor. During the ride I noticed the derailer getting a tad close to the spokes. So obviously some form of bending (the hanger) happened when the bike tipped over. Not a problem, have had this many times before. I will fix that. So come Saturday afternoon, I bent the hanger back that the derailer is aligned nicely and decided now is a good time to fix up the shifting. So loosend the shifting cable, made sure the derailer is alignend and sits nicely on the lowest gear. Tighten the shifting cable with no slack on it. Now I can shift up into my biggest gear. Check the hi lo screws, they are not limiting the movement. The moment you set the derailer to go into the top gear it won't go down into the smallest. Almost as if the shifter is only for 10 gears. My question to the hub. What can cause this? Should I replace the shifting cables? Don't see how that could be the cause. Should I replace the bit of cable housing that they might be worn? Please let the ideas roll so that I can fault find this one.
  13. Went out for an early morning ride. Clock moved back yesterday by one hour so we started off in the dark again. Went down this little pass and as went around the one corner, this sneaky, stealthy, f§$ng rock waited for me. Hit the bugger at 47 km/h, blowing out the front tyre. I suppose that I am typing this from home and not the hospital and could still finish my ride, albeit slow as the spare tube also seems to leak some air, I should be greatfull.
  14. Winter returned to interrupt our Spring start so was off the bike for almost two weeks but boy does the Mountains look stunning with a new fresh coating of snow.
  15. Can't press the like button too much on this one. With a daughter diagnosed only two years ago with autism, you can't beleive how small changes made at school and at home has had such huge changes in her life.
  16. Not knowing how they enter the weight and if it is just cargo or do they manually calculate the fuel as weight as well but the fuel itself is just short of 200 000 liters so that should weigh close to that alone. Then add the aircraft weight and you never know how much those pilots drag along for a trip to Brussels in hand luggage

    Who remembers?

No wonder the Europeans is less keen to import veggies from the UK. It is the iol polluted soil the stuff grows in
  19. That could be interresting. There was already this other guy that was flying for SAA as a first officer for many years and was not actually even a qualified pilot
  20. Uhm, if he travelled through Germany it would have been a given.
  21. Bloody hell. I am on 10. Better rework my bucketlist.
  22. Yip. Still miss him. Funny how you only met a person once ... briefly ... but the rest of your memories of that person is all to life on the web and yet he left such a mark in many of our lives. We chatted often in private messages. Yip still miss him.
  23. Here are my signs of spring. Although not minus temps it was between 2-5 degrees but the wind chill had a nasty bite in it. Was a rather fresh wind in both strength and temperature. But still a good ride.
