  1. It should go to the Friday Funnies thread rather.
  2. Swiss have you got any info on what depth the wreckage is?
  3. I see that is actually more Weavind Park than Silverton. Hope your brother is ok. Thanks for reporting.
  4. Two winters ago there was a mad rush to clear the roofs of buildings here as we had lots of snow. Then they mentioned figures of the weight of ice per cubic meter is roughly about 50 kg. If the snow gets older and settles that weight per cubic meter goes up to about 90 kg. The panic two years ago here was that a front with ice rain was approaching and the snow can act as a sponge and absorb the water where the weight could go to 600kg or even up to 1ton.
  5. I heard different figures. Where did you get this info. Would like to read up on it. I am sure density can differ.
  6. Anything is a guess at the moment. A complete break of the wing in my humble unqualified opinion would have sent the aircraft in a violent spin that would have left a slightly bigger debries field. All indications are that the aircraft hit the water in one piece thus such a small area of the debries field. I wonder if a engine did not break off rupturing hydraulic lines in the process. I feel bad for Boeing as I am pretty sure this is not a Boeing related error as such. I am more inclined to think this would be a maintenance issue gone wrong.
  7. Really good looking plane, inside and out. Do they take mastercard?
  8. I must try that this winter. looks cool.
  9. Fark. That is how cycling safety is starting in 2021. Nee donner man.
  10. South Africa is a stunning country wrt to scenery. You have a little bit of Europe down in the Cape and Garden route, you have the Karoo, the Namaqua, the Kalahari, then the Eastern Cape (which is propably the part I know the least), KZN (the coast actually not on my list of top places to be ... too warm for me) with the Drakensberg and then the lowveld with the Kruger. My next visit to SA must include a stay for a few nights in the Kruger. No doubt. I was lucky with my job in SA I spent about 15 years (actually more) doing road trips all over SA going to places I would not normally go. Loved it.
  11. The idea was brewing in my mind for some time but already dropped out (sort of) yesterday as I did not record anything, but still keen to get the habit going
  12. Nope almost the same in distance. only about 80 km more with less climbing and about 75 hours less time. My commuting days are over so scraping time and distance together is a issue for me at the moment.
  13. Agree with you there. I also wouldn't pass cyclists in an intersection as a rule.
  14. Whenever I see a Tiger Moth flying I can't help thinking if I would be able to chase it down with my bicycle. It always look as if they are flying so slow that they will be dropping out of the sky any second.
  15. Also fascinated by your stories so if ever you stop in Munich let me know. We could try a braai (weather permitting) or at least a beer or two.
  16. Hope you heal well Dale. What is the damage to the bike? Gonna miss your pics. Hope you are back on the bike soon.
  17. According to my dad who is well informed with the "official" news feeds on social media old Bill is now planting chips into your hand. Personally I give up talking to ill informed people.
  18. If I was in the OP's shoes I would stick to the edge 520. Simply because he says he just records his rides. For cycling the edge is simply better. When I replaced my old Polar 3 or more years ago, I had to decide a watch or the Edge. I decided that for cycling the Edge wins hands down and I still think that today. That being said I bought my VivoActive 3, 2 years ago and love the watch and love the data it captures in my daily routine and my indoor swimming. But when I get on the bike I take the Vivoactive off and let it take a rest of a few hours.
  19. Safe to assume you are not working this week?
  20. Very possible. Not just Russian but African countries and other Asian countries.
  21. LWB but don't SA or ACSA have inspectors at the airports that check the aircraft landing there for "air worthiness". I know Germany have inspectors at the airports and they check aircraft after landing and if tyres are shot or there are other issues the airlines get fined and if it happens often they might even ban the airline of flying in German airspace. Should the problem be big enough they might even ground the aircraft it will need to be repaired first before taking off.
  22. Then it is not called a Antanov anymore but rather Lada.
