  1. Not offended at your post at all. Just the highlighted part I am not sure of. I see European company adds on my side. I am sure that is money comming in from outside of SA to Matt. Could Matt confirm this? What ads do the other expats see?
  2. Well that just it. I simply do not have the time nor the energy to spend on multiple platforms just for chatting. If the off topic dicussion are removed I won#t move to another forum. But I only need to ask so many questions on the hub that are cycling related, and on most things you will find an answer just by searching. 2020 saw very little wrt races and local races. The commuting thread was virtually standing still as most worked home office. Only towards the end were there the Grand Tours and most spent their time on there. Nobody sat with their fat asses on the tube of a canyon so we did not even have that debate this year. So the only real big discussions this year happen to be the US elections and Corona.
  3. Not sure about cycling but have seen aviation forums and some other forums with off topic sections where other discussion are done.
  4. Can't help but wonder, are there more problem makers in the Chit Chat forums than there are scammers on theHub? It has been posted here earlier that in general the discussion are not a problem. So if it is only a few causing problems why not just suspend the accounts for x days and then that is that?
  5. This is the time you should lawyer up and just get legal input on what is allowed and what not. I would suggest a one off consultation with all your questions. Then after being better informed approach your employer and negotiate the fine points.
  6. My GSD insist on lying on the ice cold balcony.
  7. Bha ha . Well I think those raptors have a better chance of survival with Baldrick than with me. All my previous attempts to save birds failed rather tragically.
  8. Yip we learnt that rather quickly. Later on for my trips to Alexanderbay (I always stayed in Port Nolloth, McDougles Bay), I would stock up on Woolies precooked meals with veggies and all. Would come back from work in the afternoon and just warm the dinner up in the microwave and sit on the "stoep" overlooking the Atlantic with Woolies meal and a bottle of red wine.
  9. Wow. Wishing you all the best.
  10. Only think missing is a bar mount for you .38 Special
  11. On one of my work trips to Olifantshoek my more senior co-worker decided that we should rather leave Pretoria on a Sunday lunch time. Turns out that was not a wise descision as all those dorpies closed up. We eventually stopped at a KFC in Vryburg that seems to have been the only place open West from Gauteng. Worst KFC we have eaten ever. The chicken my friend had most certainly died of a heart attack looking at the amount of oil dripping off it.
  12. It has been a very long time that I have not seen Kuruman. My last couple of years that I travelled to that area I normaly had to stop for work in Kimberly as well, So I would normally travel there via Bloem first do my work and then drive up to Kathu. So passed through Kuruman propably 8-10 years ago.
  13. After Red Sands how would you continue? Via Kenhardt Calvinia or via Poffadder? I often had to travel to Alexanderbay first so drove via Upington. Like sleeping over Upington area and then start early the next morning, stop for breakfast at Augrabies and then shoot through to AB. From there I would travel down to Cape Town on the N7 which was one of my favourate routes to travel.
  14. Does Kuruman still have so many speedtraps?
  15. Man you bring back memories. I drove that road so often for work to Olifantshoek. If you drive past red sands and you look to your right on those distant mountains, that was where I worked so often. Could drive those roads with my eyes closed. Quite a few times i stayed at a lodge at the foot of those mountains about 15 km outside Olifantshoek. It was so quite you could hear the animals on the game farm at a waterhole about 1,5 km away. And the stars at night. Used to park outside the chalet with a beer and just kept looking up.

    Who remembers?

My oldest almost only eats that for breakfast. Luckily there is a online SA shop in the Netherlands where we buy our stock every month.
  17. Oh that happens with girls as well. With us it did not happen at a mall but at a company Christmas function for my wife. One moment the youngest (think she was just a year max two old) was there at the jumping castle the next moment ... gone. Searching frantickly aournd me I rememebered that there was a paticular staircase that she was interrested in before we went to the jumping castle. I ran to the staircase to find her that she went up the stairs to the first floor and climbed on the railing. If she had lost her balance she would have fallen at least 4 meters down. Without trying to scare her and frighten her I just ran up the stairs as quicly as I can and calmly told her to hold tight till I got her and pulled her off. Almost died 7 deaths there.
  18. As I said I think the trump thread should fade away after 21 Jan next year. So should the Covid thread but that might take a bit longer.
  19. We still have more than a full month to go. Maybe you should wait till January 1 before posting it.
  20. It's a forum. People will debate arbitrary points and get into big fights. Removing Off Topic chats will not resolve it. The older hubbers might remember that the fights between Winningtime and Championchip was one of the big fights that I think contributed to the dimise of the Supercycling site. Cutting the Off topic forum will: A) reduce complaints to moderator (maybe assuming there won't be cycling related fights which I don't think will happen as we have pretty heated debates in ex Cycling safety topics) B) reduce posts on the hub C) reduce members The main focus of the hub should remain cycling related. But the US politics in my opinion should reduce after the 21st of Jan. The other big thread is the Covid which indirectly started because cyclists tend to think of what the effect of the virus would be on them and with lockdown it had a big impact on every one and that is why it would be such a debated topic. This should also start dying down by June next year in my opinion if not earlier.
  21. The cammo makes it difficult to clearly see the wings but that has to be a Mirage F1
  22. Boeing 737 max finally got FAA approval. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-boeing-737max/u-s-ends-boeing-737-max-flight-ban-after-crash-probes-idUSKBN27Y0FU
  23. More like how the hell are they going to get you to hospital. you can't sit, you can't stand. Go to hospital with a bus and hold on to the upper rail maybe?
