  1. Interesting!
  2. This? After I give you advice to hide from Comrade Jules as he doesn't seem to like "Agents". Be careful as he will build the wooden railings on your mountain but since he got like 20% for woodwork I wouldn't trust them. Btw, with everyone on your mountain I think it will indeed end up as "brokeback" mountain. Poor mountain will collapse.
  3. It may give you an extra hour to decide!
  4. We did this "test" with nothing, a powerband and a Livestrong band. Same result with all three.
  5. If I were you I would hide very fast because Comrade Jules will be looking for you. Looking at your profile pic...............
  6. Yeah, it is like we never left the dark ages!
  7. It is worth paying the high price for a quality mag.
  8. This has going around a few times. We know they don't work. A few weeks ago I was with some friends and we did a similar thing. We got the person to hold a Livestrong band and then a PB band. Same results.
  9. Glad Basso has finally realised winter training helps! We been training through winter for years! I liked Basso from the CSC days. With Basso and Nibali, Liquigas could do a move like Riis did when Sastre won the Tour. If I remember correctly it was a double headed spear with Schleck and Sastre. Then either Basso or Nibali could win.
  10. I get Ride from the club and used to buy Bicycling. Now I don't even bother to. Also if you read it closely there are so many spelling mistakes!
  11. Thanks for that Saint!
  12. Welcome to the forum! Just remember that any pics of your bike has to be taken with the bike on a couch! And don't forget the search button. Enjoy your time on the Hub, it will be very entertaining, that is for sure!
  13. Ok, I have some "Look" style pedals and Time pedals laying around somewhere if you need to borrow them.
  14. You can't be serious?? They a rock band!
  15. What style cleats do you have?
  16. And how is that going to help? Drive down William Nicol on a sunday and you will see every second BMW with the back numberplate removed. Motorists still drive badly even with both numberplates. Oh, sorry, I forgot - you in Nigeria and not SA.
  17. I would say that it is split about 60% with others and 40% on my own. Same applies to both. I have ridden with some friend on Ontdekkers and the motorists have been fine. Cyclists, have to see it from motorists' point of view and try not to block the traffic as much as they reasonable can. But then motorists also have to see it from cyclists' perspectives. Keep too far left and there is debris that can cause punctures etc. When I am driving and a truck or slower car is ahead I wait until it is safe to do so, no matter how many minutes it takes. I then don't go wanting to harm every truck driver I see. If a motorist cuts me off I don't go wanting to harm whichever other motorist is closest to me. Those roads is not a high volume road compared to many other roads just near them. It doesn't have robots or stop streets so it is a nice cycling road. Around the 94.7 and Argus you will get more of the non-serious cyclists riding who often are not the most clued up ones concerning riding courtesy. Why then punish the more regular cyclists (like the ones on the Hub)? Some cyclists probably ride badly everywhere but it seems like the main area where people get upset is in the cradle. This could indicate that an attitude adjustment in needed in the cradle. Besides, there are businesses there. I for one would rather spend my money for a post ride breakfast or coffee etc at a place like Valverde which is "cyclist friendy" than at a place which is not. Especially with so many cyclists around it is a good business opportunity so the residents should embrace it! So why anatagonise the cyclists and try chase them away?
  18. It is fine having the bike lanes but they have to be rideable. Most are but the last time I was in the cradle there were a few parts which was not totally rideable (either due to a being a bit rough or plants or debris etc.) Most of my riding is in the build up areas and people so far have waited until it is safe. The traffic volume is much higher and they are prepared to wait a few seconds until it is safe to pass me, and the few friends I ride with at times. I give them a wave in thanks. So if motorists can do that on higher traffic roads then why can't a few inhabitants in the cradle?
  19. True. They don't have any licences to demerit in the first place!
  20. I have a Gary Fisher with mid level groupset so no fancy frame or parts. Done many races with it and it has been great. Your bike is more than adequate for racing. If you get into racing seriously and move up in the seeding then you can look at getting a new fancey bike.
  21. Thanks Iron and The Saint. Ironic that you make comments about motors and x-raying my frame because I do ride a Specialized. Maybe proof of what you can do if you get a Specialized?
  22. Cyclists have as much a right to the road as a car. What is he going to do next? Take pictures of cars as evidence against motorists?
  23. Cattle grid to cattle grid 2:00.
  24. Interesting, the roadies p!ss off the Cradle residents and the MTB'ers p!ss off the farmers! It is all about respect. MTB'ers have to respect the farmers' land and only ride there if given the necessary permission. You wouldn't want someone riding his bike over your lawn and in your flower beds without your permission. And then leaving your gate open for your dogs to run into the road.
