I am with the group that Boyes wouldn't make that much of a difference. The wind in the last two editions has had much more of an impact on the race.

I have a set of Easton EA90 Aero's for training and racing. Recently got myself a set of Gipiemme wheels (from Ha Ha Kieren here on the Hub) mostly for racing with a bit of training as well. They make a huge difference! Find a set that you can do a bit of both on.

It took me half the time to drive the last 1.5km and park that it did for me to drive from Fourways! The venue was rubbish! The start was totally chaotic. I think the organisers have a huge amount of fix up to do for next year! Marshalling was excellent though. A bunch had motorbikes and a police van.

Great story! I too find that the taxi's give me more space when I am on my bike. Even though the like to drive down the emergency lanes and then push in they are actually for more likely to let you in than other road users when you do want to change lanes etc.

Just don't overdo it.
