Nike weren't first with the carbon plate, but they were first to get it right. Its not as simple as sticking a piece of carbon in the shoes, as we know the foam they use might even contribute even more. The Hoka Carbon X is nice, but its not a sub 2:05 shoe. They know it and thats why its marketed more towards ultra runners. The great thing about this is that other brands, like Asics are forced to step up. But until then we will continue seeing their sponsored runners cry on Twitter and run in spraypainted Nikes.
