  1. I'm a great fan of Rocky Mountain. I ride Scott also but trust the Rocky with my life. Great brand and design overall. The VERTEX 990 RSL looks like a proper bike, are you sure it is in the R14 000 price range?
  2. Great info, thanks. Did you suffer more on the climbs due to the bigger wheels, or due to the dual suspension setup? I suffer enough on the climbs already.. don't want to do anything thast will contribute towards an even slower climb..
  3. Thanks jeepdude. I have a Fox 32 F 120 RL upfront. You reckon it will work? Did you convert your 26" frame with 27.5" wheels? I'd like to hear some opinions from the guys that have done this, and if the extra 1.5" is worth the effort/ costs?
  4. Thanks Jacquers
  5. I have a 26inch Scott Spark, large frame, and I love this bike. However, I recognise the benefits of the bigger 29inch wheels on the marathon routes. I do not plan on buying a new 29er soon, and would rather like to know whether it is possible to fit 27.5 inch wheels to my existing bike frame without buying a new fork etc.? Also, how would the 27.5 inch wheels impact on the 26 inch frame geometry, if any? Anybody out there that has tried or done this maybe? Thanks
  6. Agree with Top Fuel. Watch out for over training. Remember resting your body is just as important as the training rides. I'm doing the 16 week Polar programme. I am now in week 5, with my max/peak week being 12 hours in week 11. I also run twice a week for an hour at a time for some cross fitness. See you there.
  7. I saw a navy blue Ferrari today with a bike rack and bike on the back on the highway between Knysna and Plet riding. Couldn't see which bike it had on the back. It just didn't look right.
  8. Giant is a nice bike, but I say Scott is the better bike. The twinlock is also awesome.
  9. Very nice. Is it Swiss?
  10. awesome, thanks. I'll def get one. appreciate your help.
  11. Thank you MJ. Do you still use yours or do you maybe want to sell?
  12. thanks freak for sharing
  13. any opinions on a baby seat for bike?

  15. Hendrik, just stick to the 26inches and when you feel like doing open roads get a road bike. I won't swop my Scott Spark for anything
  16. How can you exceed 100%? Your max HR and 100% is the same thing. If 100% = max then you can not exceed it. If you exceed 100% than you weren't on your max HR before. You just happened to exceeded what you thought was your max or 100% HR. If you thought your max or 100% HR is 200 and you reached 220, this does not mean you reached 110% of your HR, it means your max HR is 220 so 220 is your actual or 100% max HR. If next time you reach 222 then that is actually your max or 100% HR. You have to push really hard to find your personal max HR figure. As corretly stated in this thread forget about the formula and hit those sprints until you drop and then check what your ultimate maximum maximum HR reading is, and that is your max or 100% HR.

    Child seat

Some nice tips and products mentioned here, thanks How old were your kids when you started riding with them on your bikes, or rather what is the minimum age to get going? My boy is now only 6.5 months and I can't wait to get one of these child seats.
  18. i agree with Wheelsuck on this one
  19. you said it, assumptions.
  20. BigBadAttitudeTunaRiaantheBoereSprinter and HotheadedSingleSpeedDangletheSoutpiel. I am not one of the 1000+ post hubbers (I have however done more races than my posts) as I much prefer doing reading than posting on the Hub. It is obvious that you guys are both superb athletes, with Tuna being a runner recently started mtbing, and Dangle seeming to be a good runner and rider. You guys have provided the rest of us with much deserved good weekend entertainment with your blows. Almost like a build-up to a good duel. You should both now take a break from this topic and rather settle it with a good bikerace and/or run of each's choice. Now how's about that to settle? Not sure where Dangle is based but seeing that Tuna is in George and Dangle has done the Attakwas, it might be quite possible to meet somewhere and possibly enter the same event(s). I'd pay some good money to see you guys go at it at each other at your different race dicciplines. Dangle, I don't know you and I enjoy your debate, but out of respect for your some fellow hubbers, don't mock another oke's use of language if you can't even read it. Look forward to the race!
  21. thanks, meeste ouens hier is fietsryers
  22. What bike are you riding for this race? My taktiek is om geen punctures te kry nie.
  23. my point exactly. Ruggas to start now!
  24. Top 10 in which mtb races and distances did you finish?
  25. Choose the lighter ones, lots of climbing ahead and you won't need the extra grip on these roads. Still be carefull though on the fast bends going down
