  1. Apologies for the hijack but does anyone know where I can get a bike mount for a Nokia (E75) - I'd like to use the GPS and sportstracker. Cheers
  2. Wrong form - you'll get a much better response in the Classifieds

    Dt Swiss

I'm with Moegoe. DT Swiss is a HUGE international brand and should be supported accordingly in our market. Why go to the hassle of asking the local distributor to special order so you can wait the same amount of time for your order as you would from CRC and then have to pay and additional XXXX% markup for the privilege? Doesn't make sense...

    Niner Air 9

Sorry for the hijack but has anyone ridden the (revised 2010) Jet9? I'm really intrigued by the 29er concept but am too old / fat / untalented for a hardtail...
  5. I'm with splat. Also biased - have a Trance X2 Not too keen on proprietary systems (brain etc...)
  6. I ride the Spruit 2-3 times a week (Alberts Farm to Republic Road) and have never seen an incident. Frankly - I don't have an option - its the only place I can get on my bike during the week...
  7. The Hub classifieds is a great place to buy and sell upgraded components etc. It's generally a tough, knowledgeable crowd and your chances of being ripped-off are smaller than most other internet trading spaces. If you see what looks like a scam - shout. Perhaps there could be a buyer / seller feedback and rating system to sort the good from the bad?
  8. Has anyone bought/tried one yet and, if so, how has the experience been? Looking to upgrade my CS200. Thanks
  9. But surely this is the whole point of e-commerce - i.e. to remove unnecessary parts of the supply chain? If customers are happy to buy online and ask a specialist to build / fit their components (or do it themselves) - why not?
  10. I have a lot of sympathy for the LBS - mine gives great service and will always try and do a deal on price. Problem is - I can buy certain parts cheaper retail from CRC than they can from the "official" distributor. We are stuck in an outdated distribution supply chain that has too many middlemen and profit margins built in. Manufacturers are the one who need to embrace the new globalised economy - they would benefit greatly by reduced stock holdings and greater access to the consumer.
  11. Does anyone have any experience of the Stans / No Tubes proprietary hubs? They look quite reasonably priced and are an obvious match with the rims.
  12. I've alos never built up a bike myself before but would love to do it when the $$s are available. Her would be my order of priority: 1. Frame 2. Fork 3. Wheelset 4. Gruppo (incl. Brakes) 5. All the other bits...
  13. I've had an XT wheelset for 9 months and the casette has always oscillated slightly - doesn't seem to be a problem.
  14. Or, a Santa Cruz Blur XC Carbon...
  15. Pornstar - I really enjoy the Whasp products and will be shopping on the site. How about producing (or just selling on the site)some reputable energy / nutrition bars to supplement the gels and drinks?
  16. Don't think there is a "best" saddle. It depends on the size of the caravan that you're towing. Mines's unfortunately quite large, so the Selle Italia Prolink works for me but I'm sure it'd be too wide for the guys in the flyweight division...
  17. I've also got my old one and agree - R30 per entry is still a good deal.
  18. I also have an '09 Trance X2 and have done the following for well under R8k: - Wheelset - upgraded to XT M778 (15mm) with Continental Mtn and Speed King UST Tyres and Stans. Kept the old wheels for training and backup. - Drivetrain - upgraded to XT shifters and M772 shadow R/D - Brakes - upgraded to XT - Bars - upgraded to Easton Monkeylite XC low-rise - Stem - upgrade to Thomson X4 - Seatpost - upgrade to Thomson Elite Forks and shock work just fine - could possibly go lighter but only for lots of $$$. I'm not the lightest of riders so a blend of weight savings and increased reliability is key.

    MTB SHOES

Me too - not just MTB shoes - any shoes are too narrow usually. Would love to know if there are certain brands that come in wide sizes...
