  1. Did a search but no info since 2009 so here goes... I'm looking to build up a strong and reasonably light 29er wheelset with Stan's Arch rims. I was going to go for Hope hubs but came across the Nuke Proof Generator hubs while browsing CRC. Any feedback on these hubs? They appear to have all the right attributes - light weight, 15mm conversion, cold-forged etc. Thanks
  2. I'm also interested in this - any feedback?
  3. +3 for wheels
  4. Why on earth not? eMail is the most widely used form of communication on the planet amd has both speed and traceability as it's attributes. Its the perfect medium for communication of the sort described by the OP - if only to set up a meeting or telephone call. If you're going to run an effective business in 2011 you need to respond to emails.
  5. In order of favouriteness... 1. Tread 2. Ride 3. Bicycling 4. Others
  6. If you can bear it, try and wait for the 2012 XT components - looks like there has been a trickle down from the new XTR. The brakes look especially good.
  7. Destiny - no. Coincidence - well that's another story...
  8. Speed / momentum is your friend
  9. Wow - that is a good deal
  10. Won't be under R30k with the Crossmaxes - should be able to get one for around R27k with the stock Giant wheels...
  11. First thing I did with mine was transfer my old cockpit items over from my old bike - that saddle is far too narrow!
  12. Instead of doing it yourself, how about heading to a (reputable) LBS who can look at all the variables and have experience of fitting?

    2012 XT

    2 x 10 - looks good...
  14. How many white trail-running shoes do you see around?
  15. I'm biased cos I just bought one - Giant all the way. There's no FS 29er from any brand that offers better value for money at the moment.
  16. I just received the email from the organisers - R350 does seem very steep in comparison to the other events in the area...
  17. I'm with Mark here. For many of us cycling is a recreation / sport / keep-fit and have fun activity. In my case, It's cheaper than golf and much more fun... There are plenty of races / organised rides to choose from - in fact we're spoilt for choice - so pick the ones you really like or can afford and forget about the goodie-bag.
  18. Here you go: www.bikewear.co.za
  19. Just wanted to share my great experience this week with bikewear.co.za. Was looking for a new helmet and settled on a Rudy Project Sterling. Bikewear seem to have some tie-up with ASG and the helmets were available on the site for the cheapest price I could find online. Anyway I placed the order yesterday morning and received the helmet by 4pm yesterday afternoon. I am in Jhb and they are in Pta but that is still the fastest delivery I have experience since being back in SA. Many thanks to Glen for the great service - check them out if you are looking for something from Assos, SIDI or Rudy Project
  20. Tread is by FAR the best local offering if MTB is your thing. Also Mountain Bike Action (USA) is very good if you can find it. The Americans seem to have conditions more familiar to our own than the UK
  21. Just buy a Thomson and forget about it

    Momsen 29er

Saw the AL329s at Northcliff Cycles - very nice indeed. Stan's Crest wheelset incl for R9.5k - extremely good deal...
  23. I agree - only ever seen the 24 hole hubs on the complete wheelset. Don't think they're available separately - especially not in 15mm format.
  24. Once again - the voice of reason
  25. I have the same problem. I think it may be Anti-Virus related. I use Kaspersky on my laptop and I have the problem outlined above using both Firefox and IE8. I use a Mac at home and all the ads are accessible (Safari). As an aside I also get this problem when trying to view the bike ads (enlarge thumbnails) on bikebay. Its a bit annoying but I suppose I'll do more work during office hours this way ...
