  1. Hey ngala - have you had any interest in other Salsa frames? I'm very interested in a 2012 Mamasita - just what I need to complement my 29 FS.
  2. Sorry - hijack. Why don't the major brands bring in the new stock as components and then assemble locally, creating employment with no extra added cost to the consumer (i.e. increased labour cost offset byt reduced duties). I'm sure this would benefit the local bicycle industry hugely? Hijack off. Oops - sorry - just saw Capricorn's post above.
  3. Just curious, but why only these 2 options? What about the American Classics - lighter and cheaper than both. Have had no issues with mine so far and I'm no lightweight...
  4. They are very difficult. I really, really struggled to get AKA's onto American Classic rims. Eventually managed it but I'm a bit nervous about what I'll do if i need to fix a flat / sidewall cut when I'm out in the boonies. Had no issues with the Crossmark UST's before that though.
  5. Would love to see some kind of route profile for the 70km - even if it's from last year. Just want to have some idea of what's in store as I've never ridden at Van Gaalens before.
  6. It's not so difficult. Both parties do a collective analysis of all items purchased from SA customers through both websites and stock-up accordingly - I.e. bulk shipments to Cape Town - saving money on shipping (remember CWC carry the shipping cost for all orders > R2,570). Continue to replenish weekly / monthly based on incoming orders - pricing better due to bulk. Items not on the standard stock list have a slightly longer lead time. CWC then deal with all customer-facing operations - especially the messy ones, like returns. More cost savings for CRC. CWC pay CRC a licence fee / royalty for the use of the brand in SA and the rest of Africa. Both parties score while the price to the consumer in SA remains the same but customer service improves. If I was one of the other major retail brands / distributors in SA I would be worried...
  7. I'm in for the 70km but there doesn't appear to be much info out there about this year's race / route. I can't imagine it's going to be easy though.
  8. Maybe the other guys have upped their game and are better than him this season?
  9. Just make sure you get the right size - bit of a pain to return to the UK
  10. I'll come and watch the airtime- too old and chickensh*t to participate
  11. I think this part of the Spruit is as safe as you can be on a bicycle in Jhb. I know that's not saying much but there are generally a lot of people out and about. The only (slightly) dodgy bit is next to the wetland area between Emmarentia and Alberts (below the bowls club) - met a guy who was mugged on his bike last year in that vicinity.
  12. Wow -25km/h - I'm with patches' group! Still think 5pm might be just a bit too late for the next month or so
  13. I'm in for Saturday - problem is it's World Cup Qtr Final weekend...

    2012 Merida

    Love the understated looks
  15. Tapered provides a stiffer front end with very little weight penalty - that's the theory anyway. Probelm is you need to check your headtube and headset for compatibility.
  16. Who are the Lysnkey agents in SA? One day when I'm big...
  17. To add to the mix. Bit dirty - but its supposed to be that way
  18. Both class but the Lynskey just looks the dogs...
  19. I think of it a bit more like this... Sram XX Shimano XTRSram X0 Shimano XTSram X9 Shimano SLX Sram X7 Shimano Deore
