  1. I've been struggling to find a decent Android video editor to put my GoPro stuff together. Anyone here use something on Android that works well? I know there are some good stuff on most other platforms, so I find it hard to believe that Android is lacking so much in this area.
  2. Coolest thing i've seen in a long time. Wonder if there is any significance in the move from Pina to Colnago...
  3. I suspect that the governing bodies will do their utmost to derail these plans. Even if it's an unsanctioned event, the athletes are still affiliated with sanctioned profesional bodies. It would be an awesome race though.
  4. 37 seconds! That's all... Got my sub 3 with 37 seconds to spare, but hey it's sub 3 and that's all that counts. Our K group didn't work as well as I had hoped. Started like a bat out of hell. Which blew the bunch apart. So not much bunch riding to speak off although there were some wheels to grab on to. Rode with Cav for quite a bit in the earlier part of the race but got dropped on one of those long downhills. Was a great day! I'll get the road bike out again early 2014.
  5. We did have a chat about this earlier in the thread, but I'm too lazy to wade through the entire thread to find all the names. Let's just go from here. Update and edit as we go along: Sub 3 Group K Squier - White & Red UTi kit, black Scott Craig8252 Ernokaboom I was planning on getting to the starting pen by 6:15. Hopefully by that time we'll be at the front of the bunch. Shall we just meet in the front of the starting pen?

  7. One week and some change to go. Time to pack away the mtb for the week and dust off the old road bike. Did a 3:16 last year starting from the back of the charity bunches. Starting from K this year I must go under 3! We're still getting a nice big group together in K?
  8. I agree it's a valid question. Has anyone ever been fined due to your bike rack obstructing the number plate? I remember worrying about this every time I passed a cop when I just started out cycling, but recently not so much.

    Cricket......

    We're going to do it!
  10. The route looks pretty hectic once again. Hats off to those who are signed on to ride, and those who have done it. Not on my bucket list at the moment. Way out of my price range, and even though some hubbers have told me that they've done it, I don't believe my 10 hour weeks will cut it. Perhaps one day when I have can afford to spend a significant amount of time on my bike every day. I was wondering; what must the vibe be like in the race village halfway through the Epic, when you've just suffered through 4 extreme days and you know there's still much more of that to come. It could potentially be a very somber place. At the shorter stage races there is always a lekker vibe in the race village, I'm assuming this isn't neccesarily the case at the Epic. Just a question out of interest.
  11. Got the same feedback as above. Saw the following as well that could assist in resolving the situation: 3. Tshwane Integrated Development Plan (IDP). Nick Pascoe reported that the IDP made provision for the inclusion of crime prevention measures such as palisade fences and lighting. Communities with a need for crime prevention infrastructure should make their needs known to their respective Tshwane councillors. He invited community representatives to a Garsfontein Road site meeting on Tuesday 29th October 2013. Participants would meet at 09:00 at the intersection of Garsfontein Road and Solomon Mahlangu (Hans Strydom) and would proceed from there to inspect part of Garsfontein Road in the vicinity of Woodhill Shopping Centre to consider the proposed installation of high mast lighting.
  12. You would've been a star if you could've captured that on a GoPro. Hope you heal up well!
  13. Is it worth it to get going a little earlier from a weekend away with the family and pay 60 bucks to check it out or will I see everything there is to see at the 94 expo?
  14. Undoubtedly the worst is that Elma chick on SuperSport that won that Lady Rugga thing. The only place I'd like to see her close to a rugby pitch is at the bottom of a ruck!
  15. Land on my feet on rocks at speed? Yonks ago I once jumped from my bike after my brakes failed on a downhill heading towards a very busy intersection. I had the stitches to prove that you cannot "land on your feet at speed". This was a different bike and different shoes though, so actually completely unrelated. I guess what happened was that I got, as you put it, detached from the bike yet the pedals and the cleats were resisting the sudden detachment.
  16. The cleats and and the "retaining hardware" were attached to the soles and not the shoes, after the incident. Again, lastly, not too phased about sympathy from an internet guy. Consumer advice, that's all it is.
  17. Not to try and get into an argument with a keyboard warrior, but I will respond. I do not believe that 18 months is a stretch in terms of the lifespan of a shoe, nor did I expect the soles of my shoes to rip off when going over the handlebars. I certainly was not the first mountain biker ever to go over the handlebars, but haven't heard of anyone else whose shoes suffered the same fate when dismounting in this particular way. If I was involved in a massive crash where I damaged my equipment extensively I would agree with you. However, I merely went over the handlebars where not a single part on my bike or any equipment on my body were damaged, except for the severed soles. I agree wholeheartedly that the product is feature rich, attractive and does work and that is the reason why I feel let down.
  18. Like I mentioned the shoes were outside of their warranty period and thus asg was not legally mandated to do anything. How they wanted to handle the situation was completely up to them and their approach to customer service. Do you expect them to replace every pair of shoes with severed soles? If it's a regular occurrence it's obviously not feasible, if this is a once off incident that is clearly not in line with their quality standards, perhaps? Whether you expect soles to rip off your shoes as a result of a minor crash or not is up to you and your own perception of quality. In the same way that you expect shoes to last longer than 18 months is based on your perception of the quality and durability of the product. The purpose of the thread is not to bash anyone, but information for you to consider when you're in the market for new shoes. This could happen to you. Whether this is acceptable to you is completely up to you.
  19. As per my thread posted a while back (https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/130116-have-you-ever-crashed-so-hard/) I ripped of the soles of my Sidi MTB shoes when I crashed at Red Barn. Yes, I fell pretty hard but it was by no stretch of the imagination a major crash. I had no injuries. After weeks of deliberation ASG and Sidi have decided not to come to the party and assist me in this situation. To be fair, the shoes were about 18 months old, so outside of the warranty period. Still, when you pay R2500 for a pair of Sidi's, you'd at least expect a decent quality product and even perhaps some backup from the local agent. I do not believe the soles ripping off of the shoes after 18 months is acceptable and definitely not in line with my expectations of a quality product. I will never buy Sidi's again and would urge you to consider this information when considering to spend your money on this product.
  20. Eye to eye with an eland during my morning ride @ Monateng http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/19/nare7ebu.jpg
  21. Our ride took us by this guy. He was chilling in the shade while my riding partner enjoyed a bit of cramp. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/18/eju8ate4.jpg
  22. I struggled with lower back pain on the bike but since I've been going to my chiro it has completely disappeared. I'm an advocate for chiros. Doing a routine alignment every couple of months does wonders!
