  1. My Squier, I've had it for 22 years this year. Korean made and I'm still impressed with the tone every time I play it. I still haven't pulled the trigger on an actual Fender, but that's still the plan... sometime... I have a Cort semi-acoustic that I played through "the band years" so it's been around. Upgraded to the Takamine last year. Great guitar!
  2. He's looking lean and strong. Similar sort of finish to SA champs. Should suit him well so I'd expect we'd see him flying the flag for another year.

I'm running the Ardent Race tyres with no issues. You won't go wrong.
  4. I'd want to give him the benefit of the doubt here seeing he was the only participant.
  5. Aaah, the good old days... Nice to see this thread pop up again. Perhaps time for another Mozam trip.
  6. Resurrecting this one. Any feedback on the visit to the park?
  7. Have you dealt with Gary and/or Roxy directly? They've always been helpful and struck me as stand up folks. I do echo the sentiments above though. I understand that they cannot take responsibility for your bike if it's picked up, but in my mind that translates to 'it might pick up a scratch', not lose a carbon wheel. Not acceptable.
  8. This happened to me twice with two different pairs... I obviously don't ride CB anymore. When it comes to smooth clip-ins and clip outs, float, contact area and mud clearing CrankBrothers and Look are far superior, but nothing rivals Shimano for durability. I have a pair of Shimanos on my road bike, that I only use on the indoor trainer, that I've had for yonks. They're not as comfortable as my other pedals but I know they won't break. I rode the Look S-tracks after that and recently decided to try the SPD compatible Look X-tracks. Same design as the Shimano but with 1 degree more float (admittedly still 2 degrees less than CBs), a bigger contact area and better mud clearing. To me, that pedal is a winner!
  9. I'd spare a thought for you that you drove from out of town to the worst mountain bike event in Gauteng. That's way worse than waking up early.
  10. While we're doing this; what cool trails are there closer to PE?
  11. I've heard good things about the trails at Euphoria. It's a 20 minute drive from Modimolle.
  12. Only the last week? I haven't found any streams for anything for months now.
  13. Defintely not. Biogen and USN is from the same factory - developed by Albe Geldenhuys. Cadence was developed by Jeroen Swart and the guys from Science2Sport. Also roughly the same ingredients as High5.
  14. What did she say? Edit: Nevermind. Found it.
  15. It's great that the anti-doping agencies are so busy and they are doing good work for the most part, however, can't help but wonder whether it was worth all the effort to change the ban from 10 years to a lifetime ban. Not much difference between the two IMHO.
  16. Glad to see that some pros have balls. Gawie Combrink just posted this on the book of face: "I don’t normally do posts like these, but after 14 years of loosing out to conmen like these I’m pretty angry and frustrated. It’s great that they are getting caught. Sure we can go update our CV’s, but it doesn’t change anything for us now. The damage has been done. They stole the glory and satisfaction we get from hard work and sacrifice, by cheating and beating us in races. They stole thousands of rands of prize money and potential sponsorship deals that we’ll never see again. They stole all the exposure our loyal sponsors would have gotten and the justification they had for sponsoring us. Worst of all these scumbags stole the hopes and dreams of a lot of youngsters that want to become pro cyclists. They tainted our sport and the credibility of everyone that competed agains them. They chased away so many sponsors by their actions that could have helped so many riders live out their dreams. I’ve been blessed and thankful that I could make a courier of cycling and live out my dreams. Thanks SAIDs for catching them and keep up the good work!" Just irritating to see the amount of flack he is getting for his post...
  17. Could be. He didn't reply directly to Barend's comment but his comment is next in line.
  18. He replied to Declan's instagram post posted earlier in the thread.
  19. Look, that was just dumb. Trying to defend yourself on an anonymous public keyboard warrior internet forum. And you thought that was going to end well? I'm not saying he did or didn't deserve it, but c'mon, what did you expect was going to happen? I'd follow the LA strategy, go on a talk show - perhaps Felicia Mabuza or 3 Talk with Noeleen.... perhaps even Francois van Coke's new talk show on kyknet? Anyway, tell the story, talk about how it hurts letting down the people that you love, cry a little and make sure you strike a deal to get a cut of the show's advertising income. Sounds like a win win to me.
  20. I'd have to say that that one caught me off guard as well. I like the guy but after that comment I'm a little concerned...
  21. So, what's the best course of action here for Max? Just keeping quiet, the bikehub mob hates you already and nothing you'll say will change that or come clean (pun intended), tell your story and say you're sorry (whatever that may be worth). Personally I'd have a bit more empathy in the latter scenario.
