  1. Haven't heard his name in a while. Glad to see him getting back to form again.
  2. Looking like it's going to be an awesome race for the african jersey with Max & Kev and the Scott Factory Racing teams also in the mix.
  3. AFAIK, it was www.jetlineactionphoto.com. We didn't have number stickers to identify us though.
  4. I like it. It's different. They won't just get lost in the peloton now.
  5. I rode myself so recorded the race. It was one of the most exciting local races I've ever seen. I feel for Lil as he missed that second last turn after attacking the leading group. He still lead after taking a detour back on course, but that detour cost him. He could've gone all the way had it not been for missing that turn. Don't know whether it was his fault or the marshalls... I decided to put the road bike away after last weekend's 94 and took the mtb to the streets. Really enjoyed racing the roadies on my mtb. ;-) Really enjoyed the course. Hilly but with short, steep climbs rather than long drags. The only reason I rode was because I got a free entry late in last week. Very glad I rode in the end. Will definitely do this one again.
  6. There are only 2 road races a year in SA when riders (read: sponsors) get decent coverage. Why would you only ride for charity in one of them? Having Vos here was a major showcase for woman's cycling. What anti-climax would it have been to have the best cyclist in the world dawdling along in the charity bunches. Don't agree at all. It's a major road race on the calender. Racing to win is just normal.
  7. It is getting absolutely ridiculous.
  8. he road race circuit is 18.2km long and is covered four times by the Women Juniors, 10 times by the Men Under 23, seven times by the Men Juniors, seven times by the Women Elite and 14 times by the Men Elite. Each lap begins by visiting the ancient centre of Ponferrada before the gradual three kilometres climb to Confederacion. A descent follows quickly before the shorter but steeper climb to Mirador. At the summit, the finish is just over two kilometres away, with a descent and then flat road bringing the riders back towards Ponferrada. A right turn with 500 metres remaining, is the final obstacle before the finish line. Many of the leading favourites have already seen the road race course but opinion is divided if suits sprinters who are able to survive on the climbs or attacking riders who will use the two climbs per lap to break away. The Men Elite road race will include over 4000m of climbing, more than in Florence at the 2013 UCI Road World Championships and similar to that of some of the hardest one-day Classics in the UCI WorldTour calendar.
  9. I didn't expect him to come back. Especially at his age. 35, I think? Really interested to know why.
  10. I also rode with those socks and had exactly the same thing. Haven't had it in a very long time.
  11. My Bryton also ended on 79.8km. I reckon that is closer to the "official distance" than 85km.
  12. I did the 80 and must say that I enjoyed it. My first crater cruise and it was fun. I didn't expect lots of singletrack or massive climbs so the race lived up to expectation. I did enjoy the piece of singletrack next to River though. The race was also a lot more scenic than I expected. Dropped from A batch to E to ride with 2 mates who ended up baling at the 55km mark. Rode an easy pace up to there and then gunned it home when I rode alone. Riders were battling at the back of the race. I'll be back. The family enjoyed Parys, race was fun. Successful weekend!
  13. He knows how to lay low... Been really quiet since he got banned. Would love to know what his plans are.
  14. Came down with a viral infection on Tuesday. Hitting the meds now and hoping to be good to go to race on Saturday.
  15. Found a link of the fight that all works http://sport-buzz.fr/video-vuelta-gianluca-brambilla-et-ivan-rovny-se-battent-sur-leur-velo/
  16. Sounds like fun...
  17. Lucky enough to have never had one. Here's my question though; let's say you get a saddle sore in the middle of a stage race. Would above mentioned advice get you back on a bike riding the next day? I've read that if it breaks skin you are done for.
  18. Thanks for the reply Terrence. Looking forward to the app.
  19. I'm loving seeing Contador riding a good race. We haven't seen much of the effects of a broken leg which only healed a couple of weeks ago. I'm hoping that he gets stronger over the next two weeks and not that the broken leg comes back to bite him. Only time will tell.
  20. I have to agree. The Bryton itself works like a charm but the software sucks. There was talk of a Bryton android app but nothing yet.
  21. We bought a programme from www.sciencetosport.co.za last year. Highly recommended.
