    TITAN

Awesome looking bike but im a bit puzzled with the cranks that are set yup at the same angle?? i was under the impression that the fron and back pedals where usually set at ninety degrees from each other to ensure even power through out the pedal stroke or am i wrong?
  4. HI Errol was it you that got the trophy at the finish line? if it was you.... man you looked broken!! but you did choose a really tough race for your first long ride! to put it into perspective for you there were 29 DNF's that pulled out after the first lap so bigup to you for finishing!
  5. photos will be on http://www.od-event-photographers.co.za just had a look now but the photos aren't up as yet
  6. @ Hein we have a 20km loop right in town that we ride alot in the week, convenient as you can ride from home, on weekends there are alot of options to consider, where about in Vanderbijl are you?
  7. we smoke from a young age to protect our lungs seriously though, the air pollution isn't that bad no more .. with all the ISO 14000 regulations, the factories monitor their emissions quiet well
  8. howzit Hein im also in Vanderbijpark.... will gladly show you around sometime
  9. the 20Km race is actually 22.5 ish hence the long race being 45 Km, there are a couple of changes that have been made to the route, there are some technical sections but no Kamikaze down hills like in the past, but this is a MTB race so just ride within your skill levels and get off if necessary and it will be a great race!
  10. seat height! i don't think that stem length would impact on your knees, if anything the stem length might affect your lower back , generally speaking knee pain would be caused by cleat position as mentioned before or by seat height, but that is assuming that it is cycling related! maybe its something totally unrelated and is only showing symptoms now.
  11. totally agree Smolster! that climb up the mountain kills you and the technical downhill gets the blood pumping BIGTIME there have been some serious involuntary dismounts on that downhill in the past but only when the ego takes over! there will be some changes to the route to keep it interesting but all round it will be a challanging race!! ...... just the way we like it

    Redstone MTB

Hi Guys its almost time for the new redstone events to get underway, thought i would give you guys a headsup that the Redstone events are now going to be organised by Sprectrum sport so you can expect some high quality events coming up there. the first MTB race is as follows redstone.pdf
  14. Thanks for the feedback guys
  15. Anyone know where i can get some in the JHB area?
  16. jonnow events i never miss is all the BSG events, midlands events, Prestige ultra and ofcourse the Sasol cross series
  17. the JHB series has moved to the other side... which is a good thing but..... the transition area is still too small and you should have road closure in the venue too, last year the cyclist where coming in on the same road as the cars where leaving the venue, each to their own i guess.... i personally will not support this series but hey there are alot more triathletes that do support it, i would rather save some money and go do the midlands events and the BSG events locally. ps. just for a minute think why BSG moved their event from Germiston
  18. that is a cool ride!!
  19. Jonnow the Germiston lake is a very interesting setup with its inlet and outlet configurations so depending on where the tests are done you will get VERY different readings, and i am not convinced that the race will be called off in the event that the algae and e coli values are not within the parameters. i just think that there are way better venues than Germiston lake, then i am not even speaking about the others safety issues there are at this venue. IMO its sad because its a good event but the logistics suck
  20. wont be doing this series till it moves away from Germiston lake
  21. word of advise. Dr Debeer does not charge medical aid rates so there is about R15000 that you have to pay out your pocket but you can then claim it back from them. i would not even bother seeing another doctor when it comes to shoulders! Dr Debeer just does shoulders nothing else
  22. Very very true!! the recovery process is the most import part of the whole process but dammmnn i have never had more painful physio that after the 8 weeks in a sling!!
  23. eish man i feel your pain! wish i could give you better news but from my experience going under the knife is your only choice! physio and chiro's etc are only gonna cost you money, i have done the Kenesio taping, the electro therapy, the acupuncture, high frequency treatment etc etc etc and none of it works in the long run. to give you some info about my shoulder injury.... i blew out my shoulder about four years ago, supraspintus tear, sub scapularis tear, grade 3 slap lesion. my ortho surgeon referred me to Dr Thys Debeer @ little company of mary in Pretoria, this guy is the best shoulder doc in the country no doubt about it. he managed to fix me up to a state where i can ride bike, swim, run without any problems all i cant do now is throw a ball. the supraspinatus muscle is one of four muscle that make up the rotator cuff. the problem with these injuries is you need to find out where the tear is, if the tear is in the muscle it might respond to physio treatment but if it is in the tendon (slap lesion) when the tendon tears away from the bone or muscle, the only intervention is surgery. a slap lesion is measured in grades, 1 being a small tear 3 being when the tendon is totally dislodged from the bone. the best way to determine the extent of the injury is an arthrogram, sonar or MRI scan. i would suggest getting a proper diagnosis and then if a surgeon is required i would suggest trying to get to see Dr Debeer just be ready for a long wait and start saving up now already
  24. i had a set of them converted to tubeless with no problem at all! not bad wheels at all - good price
  25. only knot you should be making
