  7. my suggestion would be to contact the pros i did my bikes setup by cyclefit and my seat height dropped by almost 4cm after using the general 109% ...... procedure, i cannot get over how much difference a decent setup has made to my riding! best R350 you will ever spend on your bike
  8. online entries on cyclelab gentlemen! see you all there
  9. do you intendt putting tt bars on your normal road bike? if you are then i would say just play around till you get to a comfortable position as there isnt major geometric requirements, if you have a TT bike i would say have a pro do your setup, i used Cyclefit ( Richard Baxter ) and havent looked back!! it makes a huge difference
  10. anybody got a set? saw a set at my LBS yesterday they really look the part and apparently very light think they selling for around R3400.00 http://mtbreviews.net/ashima-pcb-first-look/
  11. a wetsuit = 10 seconds per 100m so on the 70.3 that would equate to about 3 minutes that you gain in terms of speed so not much difference for the average triathlete, it does make a huge difference in terms of comfort in really cold water! cold water is strange in that in a sprint race you would probably swim faster in cold water than warmer water but on longer swims ie ironman were hypothermia can play a role a wetsuit is almost a must have.you are only allowed to use a wetsuit in water temps under 21 deg c for swims upto 2000m my personal opinion is a wetsuit cannot make up for lack of swim training!! you wont win a triathlon on the swim but you could loose it on the swim
  12. myself and Ice Angel's steeds
  13. there is no scientific proof that compression garments help DURING exercise but there is significant results using it POST exercise! it aids recovery in a big way!!
  14. the body can only absort x amount of vitamins and minerals the rest is excreted hence the yellow urine, ive had it that it looks like you holding a light sabre in your hand lol, i believe that you have to replace what you loose through exccesive exercise so i use Aminostim specifically developed for endurance athletes, there are so many different products on the market i guess its like energy products ...... find one that works for you and stick to it
  15. cassie exactly what i had in mind ...... something like the nissan series,
  16. i have been considering getting involved in a XC racing series (National) however it is very difficult to gauge if it would be worth investing in something like this if you dont no what the support would be
  17. i must say i was expecting a little more response than four members, i was thinking of looking at the feasibility of starting a xc series but i have to determine what the response would be and if this is it then im going to scrap the idea right off the bat, i thought that xc would bring a whole new dynamique to mountain biking in SA
  18. Hi guys i was wondering what the demand is like for a xc racing series, is there alot of interest in xc racing or is the majority of mtb riders into marathon races?
  19. i totally agree with you Michelle but everybody should be shaved under the same comb though! you cant DQ only part of the bunch because they where further across the line! if you over you are over period!
  20. sounds like you ladies got a raw deal! strange that they didnt DQ the other girl too?? was there perhaps an apeal lodged against you two? unfortunately there isnt much you can do about it now but i seriously question the experience of some of the COMMS at the smaller races
  21. wie was die COMM gewees sanet?
  22. this place looks great! thanks River rat, and to answer your question about the 29er, im still on the 26" the right 29er hasnt crossed my path yet
  23. been thinking about a getaway where we can do some mtbing. anybody know of a place in the drakensburg or Sabie area that caters for mtbing?
  24. hydraulic brakes dont like high pressure water at all! you get away with using a hp cleaner for a long time till you realise that like Big H said your headsets grease is all gone (happened to me) your bearings are all rusting and you cant remove your rusted seatpost etc etc a high pressure cleaner forces water into places on your bike that shouldnt get water, so if you do use it rather stand away from the bike and dont get up close. IMO a hosepipe and some elbow grease gets the job done just as well
  25. the big thing to remember here is that there are several things that could lead to ITBS so in a nutshell have a proper diagnosis made and make a decision from there as to what treatment you going to follow, as SwissVan has mentioned there are differential diagnosises that could make you think its ITB but if its not treated correctly it will never get better, there are several "triggers" that could cause ITB Leg length differences Road camber - running on a slope for a long time Foot structure Training intensity errors - increasing mileage or intensity too fast Muscle imbalances - particularly quads versus hamstrings cleat positioning and saddle height Find the cause, make a decision on treatment and follow the recovery and hopefully you will be back doing your thing sooner than later
