Did my first mtb ride at Bloemendal trails on Saturday morning. I must say that has been the most cyclists I have seen out on the trails in a day.

I've been keeping an eye on an IDT and prices for quite a while now. Kickr Core was R14 500 RRP before any specials and Kickr Snap 2 was R7500 RRP before any specials. I see today the Core is on R15 000 RRP before so called 14% discount

I am also working during lockdown - essential services permits sorted. I work in Paarden Eiland side and have considered commuting to work, but been reluctant to do so as I would probably attract a lot of unwanted attention. Let me know if you are commuting or know if safe to do so...

Okay, so I just returned from my local SAPS. What you will need is an official company document in full colour, letterhead, the works. Stating in full what you do and why you are considered an essential service provider. Then: Full name and ID of employee Office address Employee home address Employee vehicle registration number Hours expected to be at the office eg 8-5 Official company stamp Our company just sent us a basic document with only our names and ID, stating what we provide. Then we have some official SA Gov docs stating we supply critical medical equipment, etc, etc. So, long story short, SAPS did not want to sign anything, for reasons I don't comprehend. But at least stamped the docs. I was told that if pulled over, these docs *SHOULD* be sufficient...

We have received a full company letter with supporting docs that we are do essential services business within the medical field. I am taking all of this with my ID, etc to the police station in a few minutes to get this certified. I will only be able to say if this will be sufficient or not later tonight...

I do have the luxury of a car, but have commuted on rare occasions as well. I am just considering if riding to work on my bike is considered against the spirit of things.

So, it looks like my company is exempt from the lockdown and I will keep working at the office mostly. I am going to be getting official docs sorted and signed off at the police station later this afternoon. I live about 10km away from work and been wondering if I could or should commute with my bike instead of going in with the car? Irresponsible or perfectly fine? Thoughts?

We really got lucky with the CTCT this year. Literally missed another cancellation with a week.

My racetec results shows as 6 hours 19 minutes when I rode a 4h45 on strava I shifted down from 2F to 4J. Seems like I was recorded with 2F. Still beat 4 others in the group... Now for the fun part to query this with Racetec

Hmmm, I saw a guy with 5E come racing past us around Misty Cliffs somewhere. The tempo the guy was going at was enough to make you think he was on an E-bike compared to the rest of the groups he was riding with. But that time seems extremely unlikely as he had absolutely no groups to go with and was basically just doing a massive solo effort.

I would also like CTCT trust to cover the cost of my recovery massage

Silent during the first few groups perhaps, but by the time 4J got through there was a proper party, beers flowing and the whole shebang.

Were you riding in a K2C shirt today? Then I definitely spotted you two or three times, but was one of those days I didn't go up and make small talk along the way like I normally do.

I rode today again with the Fiancee doing her second CTCT. Started in 4J with her and we tried getting her over the line in under 5 hours. At one stage it looked like a 4h30 was on the cards, but with Chappies and Suikerbossie still to come it was always going to be a long shot. Official racetec result for her says 4h54 and mine 6h12...? The wind really got pretty bad around Ocean View side for us and coming down Chappies and scariest part was the last 18km coming down Victoria Road. You could feel the bike being shaken all over and just had to hold on tight. These races always seem to be a completely different world when riding lower down with guys swerving across the road, changing lanes on descents with no indication whatsover, or just stopping in the middle of the road to wait for a buddy to catch up.

I am starting to get the feeling that the expo becomes less and less of an event every year. I was quite surprised NOT to see Solomons Cycles or Shimano stalls at the Expo. Deals are getting less and less awesome each year. Normally I spend around R1000 just at Dischem, because of all the good deals, but today I only spent round R280 there. I've also gotten used to crazy queues at CWC stall, but today without even attempting to push I got to the front within about 10 sec.
