  1. Will doing the tour de PPA this coming weekend have any influence on the CTCT seeding? If so, how do I have my seeding redone? Can you do it at the Expo when you go to collect your race number or much sooner than that?
  2. I don't know much about Cyber crimes and how to catch these people, but these guys don't even appear to be smart about it. We are just making payment into a regular FNB, ABSA, etc account, which surely is linked to a name, ID, etc. How is this so difficult to police?
  3. This is an instant red flag in my book. Why send you a Whatsapp only for you to return your communication via email?
  4. Was the white bakkie not something that happened at the bottom of Vissershok Road, close to the stop street by Hoogekraal? I remember a guy being pushed off his bike, but the impact being so hard that the bike actually cracked and the guys fled the scene. Guys were pretending to have a mechanical at the side of the road at the time...
  5. With the amount of mice crossing narrow singletrack just in front of my front wheel on our trails, I'm waiting for the day the reason the mouse crossing is because he is being chased by a cobra. Otherwise, I hear rustling in bushes FAR too often for comfort, mostly due to the local Tarentaal population giving me a skrik.
  6. I'd agree with some of the comments here and advise some low level indoor cycling to help with mobility and blood circulation. Post-exercise use some ice therapy to assist with the recovery. Also make use of a physio/bio for stretching, strengthening and proprioception exercises.
  7. Hi Lolzi Got the GF into mountain biking too very recently and still very new to her. We live in Milnerton. I'll also speak to her and see if she is keen to join a WhatsApp group of ladies doing rides. I'll DM you her number if she is keen... Cool initiative!!
  8. I was about to comment on this thread about Tesselaarsdal trail which I thought was absolutely stunning. I am very keen to do the Haarkapper this year. Not sure if it's advised to do this solo? Been reading up on it and says it gets quite hairy
  9. Not a bad idea at all. I might just take your lead on this and start doing it anyway on my future ads. Thought it was funny as I read somewhere a fellow Hubber asking people to stand next to the bike they're selling with a copy of ID and the daily newspaper
  10. Although I can completely understand the point you are trying to make. People also need to take responsibility for their own actions at some point. I drew the line somewhere between playing Call of Duty and other violent video games and going out and shooting up a school. We need to stop blaming others for our own poor choices in life.
  11. I seriously don't get why we try to hold sportsmen to a higher moral code than we do ourselves. I've had many a beer stop mid ride and continue on my merry way again. I remember as a youngster once seeing Herchelle Gibbs smoking a cigarette, I couldn't believe my small town eyes.
  12. Glad that he was alert and managed to avoid the attack!!
  13. ...got a bit distracted from what my actual thought was. We've all met some people who have this exact same attitude towards ALL cyclists on the roads. You know them... "roads are for cars, not bikes!! take your bike and p!$$ off"
  14. In my heart I want to say I agree (only for old, sick, frail, disabled riders, etc, etc.) I've had a few chats with guys on the mountains with their E-bikes. I've realised it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Some interesting stories though once you chat to the guys. One guy literally bought an ebike so he can go for longer rides in the same amount of time, so he can get back home and take care of 2 little kids. I just wouldn't give him a medal at the end of a race.
  15. I got tired just watching that Watt count go up
  16. I'd seriously love to have this shirt!!
  17. If it helps I'm selling a R10k Takealot voucher here on the Bikehub for R9000. So this watch just got a bit cheaper
  18. Surely we need to tighten the ropes on the Bikehub a bit. You don't need to be logged in or have an account to view the classifieds, but maybe a login would be necessary to get the seller's personal details (phone/email). That could also lead to better tracking of the visits to your classifieds and can help track down the known scamster. It becomes a bit more difficult if you place your ads on multiple platforms. Should someone without an account have access to browse the forums? I suppose Admins have thought of some of these issues already and perhaps there are systems in place I have mentioned now.
  19. Not a cure, but go read up on the Kefir thread here on Bikehub. Some of your symptoms sounded frighteningly similar to what I experienced some time back, to the extent that I thought to get myself tested for Crohn's or had IBS or something. I started drinking a Kefir mix on a daily basis and my gut health improved remarkably. Do some research on the topic, ask the specialist, but anything that could make the smallest difference should be an option. Best of luck to you!!
  20. Hi there, so sorry to hear. Can you give a bit more detail regarding the transaction and how he went about his con, got you to make payment, etc? Sorry, but maybe by giving us more detail, it can help prevent one of us in future falling victim to this
  21. Hi Gen Do you have any info on the Multiply Money App? How it works, how you utilize it, etc?
  22. I wouldn't mind if they give R1000 cash back as with 2017 for Active Dayz. I have a few of my insurance umbrella stuff with Momentum - it makes getting to Private Club a breeze. Plus looking at Safe Days and these things it's actually possible to get 30% cash back from your monthly insurance premium. They usually send out an email around this time of year to notify us on any changes for 2019, but I haven't received any news yet...
  23. That is horrific man!! I was not mentally prepared to view that image. but important to know this is REALITY
  24. There's a pretty good Deon Meyer book about something in this line of work. Basically, you con the conman by making him think he is actually working you over
