  1. She took it on FRI for race on SAT so by then had forgotten about TUE
  2. TUE = legalised doping
  3. Not sure what that has to do with anything, or what your point is ?? Yes I have never been tested. Not a good thing in my opinion. Especially as I have won national titles, and won some major races, as well as competed in tours etc back in the day for the national team. Been to world champs. So sad state of affairs for doping that I have never been tested. But at the same time, I am still cautious as to any meds I ever take. Because i know my luck. The 1 day I take something without checking, will be the day I have my 1st dope test. But I have also been witness to doping taking place and being swept under the carpet for well known athletes. Probably not to damage the image of the sport. So I have also been on the receiving end of competing against people that have doped. So my point is, if I can be cautious, then no excuse for any elite athlete, or any athlete, especially as the tools to check are simple and available.
  4. There is no excuse for any elite athlete to take any drug unknowingly or unintentionally. Or any athlete. There is a anti doping app and it takes a few seconds to check any medication and whether allowed or not. I do it before taking any meds, and I am no longer an elite athlete. I ride masters and have never been tested.......over 40 years, and having competed at a national elite level years ago. But I still check the app. And if you are competing you have a moral obligation to do that. So unless the substance was in some other food(like steaks) that there is usually no chance of a doping product being in it.......no excuse.
  5. And Kevin Evans got a 1 hour penalty at Epic for doing just that on a hairpin.
  6. Agree, position does not look comfortable. Obviously works...
  7. I can never understand why riders are happy to race for 2nd or 3rd places. makes no sense. If you are in front you always have a chance to win. And thats why we race.........
  8. Well deserved win. Group behind could easily have been contesting the win if they just co-operated. They blew it. A bit confused by Assos tactics. From being in a position for a win or top finish to nothing. Victor messed up rhythm up front and Nizzolo never got back either.
  9. 1 view - with nor real racing on the cards, enjoy the rest and start to ride when comfortable again. nothing like a few weeks off with a valid excuse. Otherwise, as soon as comfortable, ride on indoor with a sling. If you really have to get on bike. Nothing wrong with walking. Wait a while before resting hand on bars without sling. Just not very comfortable riding idt with 1 hand. Been there, got the t-shirt
  10. So went to Dr on Friday. Did an ECG, a stress ECG and a lung function test. ECG's were good and lung function test was better than recommended. So he was happy I can train again. Cholesterol was a bit high, so he gave me meds to bring down. Said that could be a risk and that with Disprin daily would help prevent any potential clots. So will increase intensity gradually and see how that goes. Weekend did 2 x 3hr rides, low z2 and went well. Other than legs feel effect of 6 weeks no training or short and easy.
  11. I have an appointment this morning with doctor to see what tests he can do. Other than my attempt last week, I have done nothing to push HR up. My max HR is 185.
  12. Thanks. Interesting comparison. I did the same. I find that on z2 type rides not much difference. But a week ago I tried some efforts at my AT. I couldn't manage. HR went high, but the perceived effort felt worse. Pounding heart even though rate not at max. I went and compared to same ride late last year and a huge difference. So a z2 ride with AT efforts at the end. Last year : Average power 166. Max 260 Average HR 104. Max 135 Post covid: Average Power 167. Max 278. Average HR 128. Max 160. I also only managed 1x 2,5 min effort whereas last year 4x 2,5 min at the end. As a result back to steady z1 and 2 rides
  13. What was interesting for me is I tested on the Monday. It was positive. I only started with symptoms the Sunday night and Monday. Prior to actually feeling sick my hr went up to 50 and then 56 over the weekend prior to testing. Normal resting rate was low 40's. From the Wednesday while I was sick my resting HR dropped to mid 30's for at least 5 days before starting to go up again. Now that I have recovered my resting HR is steady around 47. So higher than previous. So some unusual things happening.
  14. As mentioned you need to get a Baseline which comes after a few days of testing. everything is then relative to that Baseline. And everyone has a different HRV, so cant really compare. There are graphs that show typical bell curve for age groups so you can see if you are higher than normal, average etc. the important part is to see how you react to training and stress etc. And when may not be a good time to do hard training sessions on top of tress situations. Also can indicate the onset of illness. I tested +ve on the Monday after feeling sick from Sunday night. My HRV started tanking on the Sat with an increase in HR. HR went from low 40's to 56 on the Monday. Along with extremely low HRV numbers. HRV can be very technical. I have a coach and we have used HRV for the last 4 years. I rely on him to be the expert. He will use it when he puts training sessions together as it indicates over reaching, or how well you coping with a training block.
  15. You must be talking about Stu ?? Very sad. I am sure the Covid had an influence on the events. Combination of doing too much too soon at a stage where the heart was maybe compromised from the Covid.
  16. I started showing symptoms on Monday 4th. But on the Sun my HR was just over 50. usually low 40's. Then on Monday hit 56. Tues back to 50. Then from Thurs back to 42 and next few days mid 30's. Today is 10 days and 42 today. So HR seems good indicator something wrong. My other numbers on HRV also tanked. Even though the Sat had a great training ride for 3 hrs with 20 min efforts at AT. Sunday felt good but as numbers so bad took day off. Also to see if numbers result of training stress or sick. But Monday tanked even more. HRV back to normal, but still dont feel 100% ready to ride.
  17. Anybody here measure their HRV regularly and had COVID ? interesting to see results.
  18. I have 2 bottles of the Porseleinberg. Too young to drink now. In the wine fridge for a few years........if I can hold out.
  19. The trouble with a cap of 500 on a race and 50 per batch, there's no knowing how many per category will take part. So instead of usual batching, at Fat Sheep they obviously tried to make up a batch of 50, and the mix depended on the number of entered riders in a category. Hence 50+ and 30+ in 1 batch with a few elite ladies.
  20. I am sure they will cap it on entries. Thats what they did at fat Sheep. First 500 that entered and paid got into the race. They then arrange batches accordingly depending on the number of entries per category. That not ideal, but 30+, 50+ and elite ladies had 1 batch. Elite men own batch. 40+ also own batch.
  21. Hi Cois Hope you are feeling ok. Not sure who your new oncologist is. But Immunotherapy is grounbreaking. Do some research. I was diagnosed with Lymphoma 2 years back. Luckily caught it early. My doctor suggested immunotherapy. A lot less invasive, and without the side effects of chemo etc. A lot of fatigue on day of treatment and next day, but other than that was good. All I can say is it worked for me. I have been clear for over a year now. Not sure how effective for everyone, and for different stages of cancer. I was fortunate to get into a clinical trial for a new drug that was being tested for final board approval as well. Stay positive.
  22. 1 would be the sponsors. Try and get something out of the season. And to hold a world champs where nobody has had any racing probably not the best idea. So gives riders a chance to get some 'race' legs. I don't think old guard took it easy. Nino suffered from starting on 4th row. went too hard to get to the front and then blew up a bit. Recovered and rode hard through the field. Another lap he may have caught the leaders. Others probably suffering from lack of racing. If anything they may be a little cautious to not fall a week before worlds. And someone like Nino really wants that extra world cup win to break the record.
  23. Fantastic 6th place for Alan. Awesome to watch !!! Power ride.
  24. 25. On a sad note worth wondering where Burry Stander might be today. In his day he was u23 World champ and beat the likes of Alexis Vuillermoz a WT rider and TdeF stage winner I think. Also in 4th that year was a certain Peter Sagan. Also was competitive against a certain Nino Schurter
