  1. You setup could be an issue. Just because you don`t get any pain does not mean your setup is right! The reason behind a bike setup is to use all three muscles (equally) in your legs. You might be using one more than the other and not realize until you have a bike setup. You also cannot ask a question of "How far back should my seat go, this means you have not had a proper bike setup. I know of riders who have never had a setup and have been riding for several months without any pain. Once they had the proper setup they battled for a while to adapt to the new setup as the ratio of all three muscles worked on the previous setup were very out! You can do a basic setup in the following order: 1) Measure in-seam leg length X 0.883 (Amount could be slighlty incorrect) 2) (Use Measurement from #1)Measure from mid-crank to top of saddle (Parallel with seat tube) 3) Cleats should be inline with the bone on your pinky toe (Slightly behind the ball of your foot) 4) Hang the weight off the bone below your knee, should hang middle of the pedal shaft (Which you tighten into the crank arm) (Therefore directly over the ball of your foot) If this does not line up then you need to move your saddle back/forward so the weight is directly in-line with you pedal shaft on the inside of your crank arm. 5) Now this is where you need a Goniometer to check the angle of your knee. (Should be 25-35 degrees) 6) I made my own on AutoCAD and set it to 30 degrees (Nice mid-way point) I used to think my setup was right. No leg/knee pain. The ocassional back pain, but it would not occur on every ride. Since my setup I have not had a days pain! NO BACK/KNEE/LEG PAIN! My advice would be to get a proper setup. Will definitely be beneficial!
  2. Mountain bike or Road????
  3. Very similar! I`m about 76kg (on my own) RP23 rear: 160psi (FOX pump) Rebound set to half way SID Race front: 60psi top and 60psi bottom. Rebound near half way. (RockShox pump)
  4. One of the ladies are gonna ride naked on Thursday night, hope this ain`t gonna break any rules!!!!
  5. What it comes down to is (Restecpa - As Ali G calls it!) Respect! Then a hubber tells Mikkelz to `take a hike`. That just shows me the kind of cyclists that are using the hub. The same ones who are ignorant and who do not obey the rules.
  6. You are definitely wrong! I dont care if I`m not a pro rider! (I can always buy the kit and look the part) Mikkelz was saying that due to the riders being `pro` or a `pro team` they should set an example! Which they did not! This is illegal (riding two abreast), especially on a road which has no run-off (nor yellow line) and is very narrow as is! If you cant see this is wrong then you need to stay off the road as you are not leading by example! If you think we are attacking because we are jealous you are so wrong! We attacking the riders who cannot obey rules and ride two abreast. (These are the guys who show the middle finger) Got no time for people like this!
  7. Dont worry Mikey, he is a youngster who is 8 years our junior! Maybe he will get more sensible over time and see the bigger picture!
  8. Lekker attitude! Wont be so lekker if I come across you guys and you give me the finger!
  9. Hey Guys, We all gonna be riding together on Thursday night @ 18:30. There is a ladies group (which consists of 3-4 ladies and one guy!) Weird I know! They are gonna be joining us. The ladies can set the pace! (Including the one guy!) So hopefully we can get about 10+ on Thursday night, lets hope the weather holds out!
  10. We normally park @ the Total garage near Spar as the lighting is perfect and they are open 24hrs. The only problem with parking @ Pick n Pay is the ride from there down to the circle by spar, dodgy road with no lights. Several people have been knocked down on this road!
  11. They do carry a 2 year replacement guarantee!

    Hi-Jack

    Bike tracker!!
  13. Plenty of times! Normally hit the trails (Tokai) on a Saturday morning around 7am. Once we have finished our ride after +-50km, around 10am we come across these idiots. They ride 2 abreast around blind corners!!! Or better yet they ride 3-4 abreast up the main hill and they dont move over when we move to the left to come down?? They then moan at us as we in the wrong one word: Wankers!
  14. There is no need to ride next to each other on the road! It just pis&*s the motorists off. I bet you if you had to give a hoot they would pull out the middle finger! Bunch of losers! What you must also remember is that Mountain Bikers are used to riding nect to each other on the trails. This cannot happen on the road as it is illegal! I am not standing up for the MTB`s on the road, I am saying that if you gonna ride on the road then obey the rules! I would have hooted and told the riders their mothers ****!
  15. No, these people aint my friends! As far as I know, tubeless rims only come in disc format (Centrelock, 6-bolt) so `down-grading` to V-brakes is really a no-brainer! And muddy/sandy conditions chowed rims when V-brakes were used! I could spend several hours searching about this on the hub, when someone might be able to give me a simple yet `higher-grade` explanation.
  16. Was hoping you were going to give a technical diagnosis, not a sarcastic remark by `down-grading` to V-brakes! Never heard of Burry Stander, Christoph Sauser or Kevin Evans still using V-brakes
  17. It`s never done it while riding between locked and unlocked fork modes! Normally does it once the wheel is replaced ( I re-install the wheel the right way up) and then I normally realign the caliper and all good! I have just come back from Oudtshoorn after riding 300km over 3 days. On one of the stages I noticed that my lockout had automatically `locked` out. My shock is the SID Race. Maybe it got damaged?
  18. When I bled them I pulled the lever slightly so the pistons moved inwards, so I could lube them with some brake fluid (mineral oil). I then pushed them back and worked it backward and forwards. Felt good! The problem is not that they touch after transporting because I can sort this out by re-aligning the caliper. My main concern is that when I lift the front up and spin the wheel, the rotor does NOT touch the pads. When I ride the bike with the fork `locked-out` there is no noise. When I `unlock` the fork then there is a slight scrapping sound, almost like the rotor is bent as it only touches in one place??
  19. Hey guys, Maybe someone can answer this question, On Several occasions when I transport my bike I remove the front wheel and install the brake block. Once I get to my destination I re-install the front wheel. Now all of a sudden my rotor touches my pads?? This happens quite often. (System has been cleaned and rebled several days ago, new pads also installed at the same time) I re-align the caliper to the disk and everything sounds fine until I ride. The rotor touches the pads slighlty when my shock is off `lockout`. When I `lockout` there is no noise??? Very strange! Rotor is about 1500km old, could this be the problem?
  20. How about we all get together next week Thursday @ 18:30?? Wont be fast, we can all take it slow!
  21. Magic light. But be careful there are cheap imitations out there! The single beam is very good. http://www.magiclight.co.za/bike-lights/mj808-bike-light If you would like more light then choose the one with 3 beams! http://www.magiclight.co.za/bike-lights/mj816 I got Blackburn SLX8 but they are discontinued unfortunately! My next upgrade will definitely be the MJ816!!
  22. Hey guys, back from an awesome time in Oudtshoorn. Racing was fast, very similar to road riding. Taking a rest after doing +-300km over 3 days, just over 2500m of ascent. Will be back for next weeks ride.
  23. You can add it to a sports drink, grape juice, orange juice, etc. If you have a high protein drink (chocolate, choc-mint, strawberry, etc) for post workout, it can also be added to this. Pre, during or post exercise. Aids in recovery of muscles. More well known in the gym (upper body) industry
  24. Blow them a kiss next time!
  25. Get hold fo Mikkelz on the hub
