  1. Quick question for you coffee whiz kids on here if I may. I got a Nescafe Dulce Gusto for end of last year and have been enjoying the cups it makes. 2 of them that I specifically buy is the cappuccino and flat white. My question is if there are any other companies that do pods for this machine or is it only Nescafe themselves?
  2. I must be honest, I will be one of those people. ONLY because I recently started running and have about 5 medals to my name. I want to collect more.
  3. Currently upping the mileage slowly but surely I entered for Vaal City on the 1st of Sep (just doing the 21m), and this will be only my second Half marathon. 1st one I did my time was 2h33. For Vaal I want to crack a sub 2h30/2h20 Any tips for a newbie?
  4. This is an awesome watch that I use daily myself. I also thought that there were a number of features that I wouldn't use. But I use more than what I thought. Great battery life too! And with me, the sync with the discovery app is seamless and nearly instant for points!
  5. I am so hoping she takes the W at comrades next week!
  6. Ah thank you very much! I live in Benoni so I knew the scenery wouldn't be much to write home about, just wanted to know from a organization point of view and route profile.
  7. Once you have played the board and been awarded points/diamonds, they are available to spend for 12 weeks from date of allocation, i.e. each points run off a 12 week rolling period
  8. That is the really disappointing part but I suppose we need to play our cards the way they were dealt.
  9. What people do not realize is that antibiotics can only treat BACTERIAL infections, where as the common cold is a VIRAL infection. It means that antibiotics cannot treat the common cold, and more often than not, places the patient at further risk.
  10. What is everyone's thoughts on the Rainbow 21km in Kempton Park around September? I am testing my back this weekend and get the green light from Doc to start running again if all good. Seems like the perfect time for an entry and get into a training program.
  11. I know exactly how you feel! Been dealing with mine at l5/s1 since February and it still isn't 100%. I have a central prolapse to make matters worse, pushing against the spinal canal and causing signal loss. Been chewing Coxleon and Ultracet like smarties. Hope you come right.
  12. Such a shame. Cannot believe that BOTH parties will allow this. Comrades is an inspirational day for many people. A friend of mine is doing comrades for the first time this year after watching his brother doing comrades 2 years ago, the turning point for him was seeing all the 'normal' people finish the race (he thought it was only super-humans that could do it) How many pick up a pair of running shoes after comrades just from the inspiration alone? It's not about the ability to watch it on telly, but the ability to encourage thousands to start/return to this glorious sport.
  13. Thanks for that. I actually much prefer your view than what I had planned.
  14. Gooday all, Firstly congrats to all OMTOM finishers this weekend. Good job . I wanted to reach out and ask if anyone here has ever returned to running following a herniated disk? I was recently diagnosed with a central/spinal canal herniation, but thankfully the neuro does not want to operate. I am taking his advise of 6 months rest (swimming in the meantime to maintain some fitness) but would like some advice as to how to return to running? I am looking starting very small again. Basically my first run will be 3km at 07:00/km and take it from there? Any other thoughts and/or advice? Much appreciated
  15. Thanks very much. Haven't run this week unfortunately due to work commitments but going out for a run or 2 this weekend. I did do some foam rolling which helped, nothing with too much pressure. and thanks! BNAC has always been our 'home' club growing up with my brothers playing football there and myself with other sports. But what do you mean by virtual clubs?
  16. Thanks Frosty. Much appreciated [emoji1303]
  17. Thanks Hacc, I look forward to being apart of the club. And thanks for the tip on foam rolling, I know it hurts[emoji23][emoji1303]
  18. So this past weekend I completed my first ever Half Marathon at Johnson Crane! Came in with a time of 2:32. I was aiming for 2:30 so not at all disappointed, and being my first Half Marathon, I just wanted to finish! I will train better and start improving. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, as it was my first ever 'big race' vs other 10km and 15km races I've done. Will there be more? Abso-frikken-lutely! Already planning Robor Schaffolding or Wally Hayward as my next 21km. One thing I was not expecting is the stiffness of the muscles the day after but epsom salts baths are helping a lot. Would adding in some foam rolling help or make matters worse? I did this run without being apart of a club. But will be joining Benoni Northens AC this Wednesday
  19. Thank you. Any dietary advice to make sure it doesn't happen?
  20. Well done to all the guys that did soweto marathon and kaapsehoop [emoji106] fantastic results Im busy training for my first half and did a 10km night run last week for some gauging and fun. 5km in was doing fantastic and really impressed with my pace. I was then hit with the worst stomach cramps and nearly didn't make the finish. Was forced to walk the last 4km. Any idea why? And how do I make sure it doesn't happen again. Thanks guys
  21. Thanks very much. I am sold on the 235
  22. This is honestly the best side by side comparison I have read on the internet, thanks! I think I am sold on the 235. Better for running, with great connecting to the watch (which is more than what I have right now) also has better functionality for runners (rest times, race predictor etc) I was looking at the VA3 for better cellphone connectivity but you struck a cord with me, that is interrupting your life with app notifications. Calls are fine. don't want more than that. Garmin Pay doesn't interest me, and I don't bank with FNB in anycase. I don't play enough golf and other sports to warrant the mulitsport functionality. thanks again. shall be getting my new watch most likely next week also getting a new pair of running shoes It's like christmas
