  1. Good advice here. The Slade is an awesome frame - I am really enjoying mine. It's as capable as you build it to be. To add, your budget is probably going to dictate a Fox 34 or Pike, not a 36. I would even consider the RockShox Revelation with 35mm stanchions. For wheels, my pick would also be Lyne - the AMP30. I'd actually go with their finishing kit all around - bar, stem, dropper post. Pair with Shimano Deore 12 speed. I'd go as far as considering the Deore 4 pot brakes as well, but if budget allows go for some Formula Cura brakes. Tyres, saddle, grips, etc - pick your poison.
  2. Crazy that we live in a world where that is a reality. At least no one is going to try dog-nap your dog/bear creature.
  3. Lab & Boxer Burrito It's so cold and they are loving the blankets in the morning. The dogs used to sleep outside until we got the Lab spayed. You obviously have to keep them apart for 10 days after the op so the wound doesn't tear. The first night after the op we had Mila (the lab) sleep inside, but Diesel (the boxer) was ramming our bedroom door that leads to the backyard with his head and making a hell of a noise because he was alone outside. We gave in and let him in for the night thinking it would just be for 10 days - it turned out to actually be so easy and painless with them sleeping inside that it's now a permanent thing. I grew up with dogs sleeping outside, so it was just what I was used to. But on weeks like these I actually can't believe I put those poor things out in the freezing cold.
  4. Sorry man, that's a tough pill to swallow.
  5. Can't argue with that. History has a way of repeating itself. But let me not get dragged further into this. I'm out (of this thread anyway).
  6. Okay... No one claimed a steel chain link stretches. I said the chain stretches. A chain is a system made up of parts. Due to wear the chain (ie: the whole system) increases in length - the definition of stretch. Technically correct enough for you? Oh, and if you wanna get really technical - most cyclists do have enough wattage to stretch one link - luckily for us it's a system made up of many links, so yes - no one is going to be stretching the links themselves on a chain - but again, that's not what I said. This just annoys me - if you read my previous posts you will know I am very aware that the lengthening of the chain does not occur because of the links themselves stretching. And that's why I use "nitpicking" - why tear a sentence or post apart when you know what someone else is saying? Just seems like a bit of a waste of time no? Can't believe I actually responded to this again. Unfortunately can't help myself.
  7. But... the distribution is not exactly symmetrical when you look at intelligence (and no self respecting industrial psychologist uses IQ as a measure anymore). But anyway, you get what I meant.
  8. I always laugh at this saying, because whoever came up with it obviously does not know how averages work
  9. I started watching it because of Steve, have to say it's not his best work. I finished the first episode in 3 sittings and haven't bothered to start the second episode. EDIT: I see a few people said it gets better, might give ep 2 a go tonight.
  10. First time I have heard of this. That is a pretty massive oversight from Sram. I wonder if it is just a few batches, or all of them. Will check on mine tonight (but I'm a couple thousand km in without that issue), hopefully not the case.
  11. Ja, he was going off the rails a bit. Like mentioned, I think the Covid rants was due to his gyms being closed. But that little Tweet just ensured his gyms will no longer be his gyms (rightfully so). A large number of athletes have distanced themselves, and the crossfit affiliates are following suite and going on their own. Maybe it will be the Rogue or Reebok games going forward, who knows... The sport certainly won't die, it just won't continue under the CrossFit TM banner.
  12. All I can say is WOW. For such a public personality to make that comment - whether he is a racist or not is just stupid. Greg just threw away his empire in a tweet. Though it was heading in that direction for a while.
  13. No photos today, was soaking up every moment.... But dam, Jonkershoek is just heaven on earth. I have missed that place so much! I have not had as much fun as I had today in a very long time.
  14. Was awesome to be out in the daylight. All my recents rides have been in the dark! There is actually enough space for that light on my seatpost. I was just sukkeling with the seatpost slipping into the frame a bit during the ride and had to adjust it a couple to times. I just moved the light out of the way and forgot to move it back before getting on the tar.
  15. Haha ja, the moss nearly caught me out! I might just run into you there this Sunday then.
  16. Nope, went down with OG to the snake pit then road gap and flow trail. I'll spend a few hours there this weekend and go ride Mexican Border. They have done alot of good work during lockdown though, trails are looking the best I've ever seen them!
  17. So good to be back in the moutains!
  18. I saw that bike on Benky's Insta page, he mentioned a Wayne and I immediately though it must be you! Flipen beautiful....
  19. That's awesome, they really do become part of the family hey! Both my dogs are very young, 2 and 3 - so they will be around for a while with the baby. They are both very friendly dogs, especially with the kids they have interacted with so far. I am not particularly worried about them being aggressive (bar some concerns about the lab - she hasn't done anything to make me think she will be, it's just a feeling I have). What I am worried about is that they play rough - it's why I like big dogs, I wrestle with them, they bite my arm (not aggro bites), jump on me, etc - I wouldn't have it any other way. They play even rougher with each other. I have walked away with a few bruises and cuts from their paws after a wrestling match. I make it sound like I am running a dog fighting ring haha. But that does mean they could hurt a child/baby unintentionally. Like you said, you have to be realistic about the fact that they are big dogs (40kg, 35kg) and that playing to them might mean an injury to a kid. So I will definitely introduce them to the baby slowly, and will definitely not leave them alone without supervision. But I am sure they will get along with the baby very well, it's an interaction I am actually really looking forward to seeing!
  20. Diesel quickly making himself at home in the (not yet finished) baby room. Both of the dogs have become extremely clingy and protective with my wife since we found out she is pregnant. They usually lie with me on the couch, but from around 5 months pregnant they have sandwiched her in on the couch, most of the time with their heads on her stomach. Amazing how they can sense there is something on the way. They are also much more gentle with her than usual (my dogs have no manners, they will walk straight over your face if you're on the couch), but they no longer do that with her. They are quite careful about where they step, they don't jump up on her, etc. Here's to hoping they are as gentle with the baby. Although I think we may have some jealousy issues with the lab...
  21. Yes, the school bus requires even less skill to ride.
  22. Hahaha I won't elaborate too much
  23. An Epic requires more skill to ride than a Stumpy, the Stumpy makes up for a lack of skill why else do you think all of us fatty EduroBros are on heavy bikes that don't pedal well?
  24. Surely this is a joke. That bike isn't worth more than 10k. People don't seem to realise that top of the range 10 years back does not even hold a candle to Deore level stuff today. I have a 2006 S-Works Epic with full XTR, anyone wanna take it off my hands for 25k? Bargain....
