  1. I like this ALOT! That shorter travel trail bike with a Push 11.6
  2. I'll check out the b-gap this afternoon before heading out and play around with the barrel adjuster a bit. I did use the Eagle spacer tool when installing though so it should be fine. Those 3 easy gears will definitely be more worn than the rest. I typically ride in places where I climb for 40 to 60mins and descend for 10mins. So I do spend the majority of the time in those gears. Hopefully it settles after a few rides, because there is nothing I hate more than a noisy drivetrain.
  3. So maybe someone here can diagnose. I installed a brand spanking new XO1 groupo in May 2020. 2500km later with a chain at 0.5 and chewed up chainring I replaced chainring and chain. I now have a clicking sound in my easiest 3 gears under heavy load slow cadence. The bike was dead silenr before I replaced the chain and cassette. Anyone have an idea what the cause could be? Is it just the new chain settling? I previously had the clicking soud with a GX cassette where the individual cogs are pinned together. My understanding is XO1 is milled from a single block with only 52t ring being pinned on. My initial thinking is that it was the pins creaking, but the sound is there in all 3 easy gears so that doesn't make sense... PS - shifts are crisp, no chain slipping or jumping around.
  4. To be fair, pretty sure those guys would have been assholes if they were on normal bikes too.
  5. I'd love to claim it, sadly not...
  6. Brilliant bikes by all accounts, but I agree Ibis make some ugly bikes! Luckily that's personal preference, I know some love their looks...
  7. I used to ride there alot when I lived in Pta. Haven't been there for 3 years, but woke up the other morning with a craving to ride there.
  8. Give Rapide a call. I am sure they have built up a few they can send you pics of.
  9. I wanted to pull the trigger on one in November. I was told the earliest I could possibly order one was Feb with an unknown delivery date. I am ultimately happy about it as I think I would have been a little under-gunned on a Spur - but you are right stock is a nightmare at the moment.
  10. He sent you pics of the bike, you also did not see the crack which you now do see. Both of you missed it, although I agree the seller probably tried to hide it. Just take the replacement parts, although he should give you a full refund consider yourself lucky that he is willing to do anything at all. That's the unfortunate reality with 2nd hand purchases. If you can't inspect an item before buying you are taking a huge risk, especially with a high value item such as this. EDIT: I see it is a dealer, not a private seller. Different story - full refund in order. If he doesn't comply then try get a lawyer friend or something to help you enforce the CPA.
  11. Very good looking build. The tan sidewalls work so well with the paint on that frame. A steel hardtail built right is special...
  12. Thanks man! It is better than I hoped in every aspect. Killer do it all bike!!
  13. I found the same issue with Five Ten shoes and Shimano pedals. The Five Tens played well with Crank Bros pedals that allowed spacers shims to be put in. Don't know if that's available for your pedal?
  14. I tested positive on 16 December (result came back 18th). By that point I was feeling groggy, the 17th I felt worse, but not horrible. On the 18th it took a turn - bad sinus headache, really congested, low energy, and a general fluish feeling. I did not lose taste and smell, but strange enough the skin on the back of my neck and upper back was sensitive - it felt like a bad sun-burn. I had 3 bad days (18, 19, and 20th), and after that it subsided. Just a bit of coughing and a headache. By the 23rd I was feeling mostly okay. I had just gotten a new bike which was calling to me from the garage. I went for a solo ride on the 25th (this was my first day after the isolation period - 10 days from when symptoms were felt). It did not go well - I felt super tired, no power, and breathing harder than usual. 26th's ride was also strained. I rested the 27th. On the 28th I went for a 40km (1200m elevation) mtb ride - I felt 100%. Continued to ride every day until now with 3 rest days in that time period. I feel 100% fine now although I think my fitness did take a slight knock. From what I gather it all depends on whether it gets into your lungs or not - it did not get into my lungs and that is why I think I bounced back quite fast. I know of others who seemingly recovered, and then as soon as they started exercising they got sick again.
  15. You don't have to tell me hahaha My previous job I could do that too. But it was in Pretoria. I recon the Cape makes up for the fact that I have to wear long pants and closed shoes.
  16. Couple of years ago we were in London over Christmas. On the day we flew back I put on shorts and slops, and walked to the Underground like that with a T Shirt and Jacket - everyone looked at me like I was a few marbles short. When we got to the airport I was happy as a clam. The thing I noticed about all these cold countries is that in winter they heat everything up inside, so if you are dressed warmly you are okay outside whete you spend a short amount of time, but too hot inside where you spend most of your time. I'd rather be cold for 15mins outside and comfy inside than too hot inside. But, I am that guy that only wears long pants and closed shoes for work, weddings, and funerals.
  17. That's what makes it special...
  18. Oh come one guys, the guy made a video. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Absolutely nothing wrong with a beer on a ride either - the guy is in no way promoting getting hammered on a ride. We do a beer ride on a Friday to celebrate all the bg things - birthdays, birth of the kiddos, etc. Stick the bottle of beer in the hydration pack with lots of ice, pop it open with at the top of the mountain with a view of Blouberg, Table mountain and all the way around to Gordon's Bay, and enjoy. Then take a chilled ride down the mountain. Not many things in life better than that.
  19. I can't speak for anyone else, but didn't take your post as calling Lyne out... just adding my 2c.
  20. I've generally had good luck. I've had 4 droppers, and they have been awesome - no issues at all. I would not hesitate to buy another. I've also had good luck with the Lyne Holy Rail on two bikes, they held up well. Where I have not had good luck was the cranks, 2 bent crankarms, another stipped bolt. The chainrings also haven't lasted well. What I can say though, is that with any issues Lyne have stood by their warranty, and sorted me out every single time without hassles. I also know that when they have issues they sort them out - for example as far as I know they are getting a new manufacturer for the cranks (this is purely hearsay, I don't have facts). But anyway, I would not hesitate to buy from them purely because of how good their aftersales service is. No brand is perfect, and when they take feedback onboard and make improvements I will keep supporting them - eapecially a local company run by an innovative designer.
  21. You'll have to tow me in... still on my bucket list. Has to happen this year though!
  22. Lekker! That drop seriously gets in my head...
  23. I don't do the Festive 500, but I get it. This time of the year is when I spend the most time on my bike, I try to ride every day and most of those rides are going to be 3 to 5 hours. It's the only time of the year when I have this much time to ride. As for time with the family, I'm done by 11 latest - plenty of time after that. And rest, being on my bike is rest. Maybe not physically, but mentaly - and that's the only rest I need this time of year.
