  1. @DR, I've had a look around on my Mikrotik, this should work with OVPN and NORD(or any other similar VPN service that utilizes OVPN). I saw on their site they support OVPN and provide the correct security keys for use. https://support.nordvpn.com/FAQ/1047408592/Which-protocol-should-I-choose.htm If you can get a deal, or a mate willing to loan you their account for a test you can ask your ISP to set it up, else if you have access to your device set it up yourself. Mikrotik as a OVPN client is super easy: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Interface/OVPN#Client_Config The guide shows the CLI, but the Mikrotik GUI naming convention is very similar to the CLI, so you shouldn't have any issues navigating it. Just remember to create a profile for the OVPN with your login details and reference it. Edit - Just be aware, doing it this way may affect your general browsing as well as gaming if you do so. I'd personally make a few adjustments to the NAT rules so only your streaming devices use the VPN and other traffic is unaffected.
  2. Best would be to look at a DNS option rather than the VPN option. Unless the VPN provider uses l2tp with ipsec or OVPN it's not going to work. DNS option is just a simple set the IP they give you as primary DNS
  3. Probably not the thread to ask this on, but how does the bow hunting work for you? Personally I used to not be a fan as morally I don't like the idea of waiting in a hide near feeding points as is often done. But I've started watching meat eater on Netflix, and decided to start practicing again to go for a stalk and shoot hunt next year with the bow. Only thing that's getting to me is the practice time to get comfortable at 20-30m shots.
  4. Well oom Cyril did say you can get into some major poo if you get caught in public not wearing one. As soon as 1 or 2 people pull a Karen and call the cops and someone actually faces the consequences people will carry on not wearing masks. Whatever your personal opinions may be, in SA at this stage, it is law to wear one.
  5. There has been a few peer reviewed studies done on the efficiency of masks. https://files.fast.ai/papers/masks_lit_review.pdf - links to a study done in April last year by numerous different institutions world wide https://www.healthaffairs.org/doi/10.1377/hlthaff.2020.00818 https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0237691#sec012 Obviously it's still not 100% but it's better than just social distancing and not wearing one. All the measures do need to go hand in hand. There are videos done by mythbusters showing how far the human breath can travel with a cough/sneeze. This is the thing that I worry about the most, you can wash your hands as much as you like, and not touch anything, but if you are not wearing a mask and someone coughs within 2-3 meters of you, you could potentially be exposed
  6. Thanks will take a look here. He does have a grinder already, and by kettle I'm assuming you mean one like these guys sell?
  7. Has anyone used one of the Chemex Coffee Makers? My dad loves coffee and is extremely hard to get gifts for bc if he sees something he likes he usually buys it for himself before anyone gets a chance to. He's got a bunch of other goodies as well that he likes to rotate through and I thought this would be the best bet for a daily easy to use thing. https://m.yuppiechef.com/chemex.htm?id=29829&name=Chemex-Classic-1-3-Cup-Coffee-Maker
  8. You can try trainer road as well if sufferfest doesn't work for you. It's pretty cheap considering what you get and a lot of people are happy with it. Personally I enjoyed the IDT sessions. It's boring and even with TV/Music it doesn't really distract you much, but if you have the right intervals/training schedule, I found it pretty easy to focus on that.
  9. It would probably be better to get over it yes. Just hit a little close to home when a good mate's dad was knocked down in a hit and run on his morning ride and passed away due to it. When I do start I think I'll try and find a club nearby that will take me, to get into a large group and see how it goes from there.
  10. Thanks so much for everyone who gave their opinions. TBH I think if I still lived in Paarl the going out just to ride and soak in the views would be my reason for riding. Every time I went down for the CTCT and stayed in Paarl the views of the mountains and whatnot are just incredible. Unfortunately I live in Centurion at the moment and I don't feel safe to ride on the roads here be it solo or in groups so I used to drive out to SBR or the Cradle for my long rides for the safety factor. That along with time is the big reason the IDT is my go to. Honestly, Gauteng is a very meh place in terms of beauty factor. For me at least. I think what I'm going to do is like Wayne suggested, get some cheap gear to get back into it. And as some other posters suggested start with small, achievable goals. I mean before I can even dream of "racing" a 100Km race I first need to do a 100Km ride. If its not for me, lesson learnt and I'll find something else. I'll try to keep it chill and relaxed and just enjoy the ride, unfortunately for me personally I thrive of off (mostly healthy) competition. While the events are still picking up in SA I'll look into Zwift for a start. I know I'll never be the next Froome or whomever your version of cycling's greatest is. I just want to be the best I can be. Thanks again
  11. In a sense I agree with your first 2 points. I just never really liked the riding bit outside of the races. There were really spectacular moments, like my last CTCT I did where it was purely to enjoy the ride and take in the sights. That was really something special. The rest of the day-day (outdoors) riding just doesn't do anything for me other than get me ready for either a race goal, or as stress relief. The training side of things with structured sessions was really enjoyable bc it's the same as the pain from a really hard gym session. Which for some reason I love. In the end that is what motivates me, the competitiveness of seeing someone better than you, training your arse off, and still getting beaten by them the next time you meet . I'm still deciding, because obv it's a lot of money to spend on something that might just make me say nope. But I was thinking about looking at a bike in the 20k price bracket and then a kickr or something similar to that.
  12. I preferred IDT training sessions over trying to do the same on an outdoor ride. When you're doing intervals whether you're inside or outside, you're suffering and not really watching the sunset or whatever.
  13. That is what is making me apprehensive on this whole thing. I think I phrased it incorrectly. Cycling was fun for me in the sense that I was absolutely broken after each hard ride. The year I quit I did a few races in the elite bunch, which was super fun because it was pushing me to my absolute limit each race. That I really enjoyed. The long slow rides was meh to be honest. The talking **** with mates for me was the nice bit. I wasn't too phased to do a 3hr ride on the idt vs going outdoors. I think I meant to say I never found the training bit fun. I don't ride to get outside and enjoy the views, I get that from other activities like walking my dogs in the reserve close to my house or the occasional slow hike with my gf.
  14. Hey All, I've been off the bike for super long and recently watching the tour and all the other racing has started that itch again. I stopped cycling in 2018 after catching pneumonia, spending 2 weeks in the hospital and getting sick again every time I started training. Eventually it got to the point where I lost the little bit of fitness I had and just got over it and sold my bikes. I'm considering starting again, but I don't know why I want to. I get competitive and want to push myself to see where my limit is, but the commitment that took while I was doing it just isn't possible for me right now. With studying, work and my relationship already taking the majority of my time, I don't see myself committing to 15-20hrs a week again. I've never found cycling and training fun, for me the racing and trying to see how close to the sharp end of the pack I could get was the fun bit. My biggest uncertainty at this stage is firstly cost, I'll need to justify dropping a huge load of cash to buy a bike and trainer (IDT suits my lifestyle a little bit better than going out) as well as all the other gear. So my question is, for the weekend warriors and the more serious guys, what makes you want to ride? Why is cycling better than going to the gym, taking a jog or any other fitness hobby. And lastly, what keeps you motivated?
  15. So something I'm struggling to find online, but when you create something like a chimichurri, how should you season the meat? Obviously you don't want the meat unflavored, but you don't want to not taste the chimichurri. Will be braaing a flank steak and have no idea on the spice rub
  16. Tbh the majority of the games you toppies are speaking of, I've only heard of - never seen or played. They're like relics of a forgotten past
  17. It's super quiet at work now so we're all lanning some CS source here
  18. I avoid team fights like the plague, especially when you don't have a high AD tank in your team. I've been trying to Jungle, but my timing is waaay off on when to gank.
  19. I played against a Jinx whose support was a Blitzcrank last night. They f****d us up. Jinx built Runaan Huricane, Statik Shiv, bloodthirster, infinity edge and trinity. Endgame she was so OP she ambushed us at baron, took the entire team out with Blitz and got baron. Need to learn to play her
  20. Turbo is fun, you can sort of ignore the basics of the game and a lot of the strats just because you level up so quickly. But I also have a buddy who coaches me in game over ts and that helps a lot
  21. I still play league every day. I'll still see with the champs in dota, but in league I've discovered a amazing build with Ahri mid lane. I got a penta the other day when the enemy team rushed our adc bot lane. I'm not allowed to cycle at the moment, so just play games until 1or 2am the mornings now
  22. I love league, it's super fun to play. The community is just a bit toxic though... Super salty It's the same with CS:GO we watched the finals and guys go crazy for that game
  23. Started playing dota last night. It's super hard to bridge over from league. The team aspect of the game is so much more important than in lol. Should be a fun learning curve
  24. Wait a bit there are massive problems with the optimization on xbox
  25. MSVP100.dll and MSVR100.dll Got them reinstalled by completely removing Visual studio and reinstalling in safe mode. Seems the installer packaged with steam is a bit dodgy.
