  1. Older XT(775 I think) and SLX(66something), no issues that is why I wondered how you would adjust clearance (between rotor and pads), as Covie mentioned. Was just out of curiosity..
  2. Apologies if this is deemed a hijack, how do you set the clearance on shimano brakes? I have swapped pads, bled brakes before but never tried to adjust the clearance...
  3. Punctures..not valid..intersections..you should slow down anyway, and it is not a race. It is about being out there on your bike, being safe, not being stressed or the cause of someone else's stress and just enjoying it. But each to their own, you wanna be the guy riding on the shoulder or in the road while there is a cycle lane so be it.. Just defies my logic.
  4. +1 I've seen a number of guys doing this on the R27 section...I mean it is right there..you don't have to stress about taxis taking you out or anything! And don't start the nonsense about punctures..the shoulder of the road is just as dirty, if not more, than the cyclelane and atleast the cyclelane gives you options to swerve without being flattened by a car...
  5. If it is allowed(legal)...everyone has the same access to it and therefore it is not an unfair advantage..it is your choice to use it or not..using supplements that is not allowed..now that is cheating cause you are unfairly gaining an advantage above those sticking to the rules..
  6. This weekend looks good..
  7. Nice boet! But I'll have to sell the car...
  8. Thanks Guys, Will start stalking the ads again.. Mr Factory I'll try and drop by on the weekend to see what you have to offer.
  9. I have been toying with the idea of buying secondhand or getting all the components and building one up..but that will add a month or so to the purchase..
  10. Cool, thanks Mojo! Will try and get her sized...thinking small. She is just about 1.65m...I think..
  11. Ok so it is time to get wifey on a MTB, we have been riding our roadbikes for some time, so she is not really new to cycling but with the road getting so dangerous I figured she might just as well join me on the MTB some days...I have taken her to Groenkloof before and bombed the ST, she was not too impressed....but hoping a more gentle approach might convince her..maybe Koeberg or so... I don't want to spend a bucket of money and then she does not like the MTB experience..thinking about R5k....don't want to buy her a 15kg bike either as then she will struggle on the hills I have noticed a Moab on obike.co.za for about R6k that did not look to bad, the price is just a bit steep.. but apparently the white and blue is pretty... So what bike does the female riders have, pro's & cons's? What should I NOT do? and what should I do?
  12. Great, let me know where and when...
  13. Hey lads, can I tag along??
  14. So who is doing the epic on a DH rig now??? Bliksem... Anyway...gents I think both of you have a small peace of the puzzle...tire flex is real...so too is wheel flex...if you use the crappy rims that came with you rocky V in 1990 and pump the tires to 6bar...it is going to feel a little more responsive or stiff...same goes for the hectic awesome bling bling stiff almighty wheelset...if the tire pressure is less than say 6 bar...(Thumb suck) the tire flex will be noticeable..the question was...is it necessary for the epic...NO, screw the weight advantage or disadvantage..is it necessary for AM and DH, yes cause you are bombing the crap out of the rig down a silly slope full off rocks and ruts...will you notice the difference on your xc rig? Yes..for that 0.0009% where you pushed the QR past its limit...if your wheel moves..fasten the damn QR you wuss... And where are the engineers..what about spoke lenght? You will gain loadsa more stiffness by just chopping 3inches off...hat coat door...I need to finish some work...
  15. I did notice a guy on a ss last year...and I think he finished infront of me...
  16. Cruising around Kleinmond early morning....poor quality due to BB and software..
  17. Ha ha, with my current level (read lack off) fitness, I will gladly get out of the way just to try and catch my breath...
  18. Cool, will give it a go! Thanks Zac.A
  19. Hi guys, I'm in Kleinmond this weekend, anyone keen for a shortish ride sometime? I have no idea where to go ride but I brought the MTB along just incase... Cheers
  20. No you should not, no valid reason to run without sealant. But go ahead, do it and tell us how many k's you did on the bike and how much did you walk...
  21. Been drooling over the element for a while now! Where do you boys get the frames? Will it take a 100mm reba? Think it's spec'ed for 120?
  22. Mcg, best to give northcliff a call, I'm in CT now so don't really deal with them that often, I have the 100% chick version...only noticed it after the purchase and - still love it, really easy to chuck around!
  23. Mine is still 26'er, think northcliff cycles had some 'old' meteore frames. Really awesome frame!
  24. I have a mongoose meteore elite, medium is about 1400g
  25. Ha ha, nice! I. Have a goose meteor with 100mm, will try and join you guys next time if you don't mind?
