CZ2075 Rami is your answer to that. As far as I know they are quite scarce.

If you want sub-compact that is not a Glock, the S&W M&P Shield gets my vote as well. I'm considering the compact version.

Totally agree with everything you said.

Although it says no license required you would need a license to be able to buy the ammo as gun powder and primers are listed in the firearms control act as something you require a license for. I am not entirely sure, but it might be something to consider. Another thing you might want to consider is what would happen if your attackers wielding an actual firearm or knife realise that you have what can essentially be described as a toy? I don't want to deter you from trying to protect yourself whilst out riding, I want you to think about what could happen. If you are willing to carry while riding why not apply for a firearm license? a Glock 43 would be a good carry weapon for self-defence. Just be aware that if you decide to carry that you are committed to actually use it should the need arise.
  5. I think I saw you near the engineering faculty today at around 17H20, I was passing in the opposite direction coming from the faculty.
  6. Had some time to go for a ride, decided to make it a nice night ride. Not seeing a single other light makes it feel eerie knowing that you are alone there.
  7. Thanks, will definitely look at getting at least a honing guide.
  8. I sort of just assumed that these sizes would be a good place to start off with. I like the idea of a bigger plane for jointing work and then a smaller one for more general smoothing work. Sent you a pm.
  9. Thanks for the info and guideline on purchase price Porqui.
  10. Also I have a stone I use for sharpening chisels that was handed down to me by my father and he got it from his father. The rest of the tools seem to have disapeared over the years.
  11. Thanks for the detailed reply. The reason why I want a #4 and something like a #7 is for flat table tops and for general jointing work and the #4 for more general smoothing. I read that the smaller planes tend to ride the "mountains" and "valleys" when jointing. I don't mind restoring, I enjoy the work that goes into it.
  12. Thanks everyone, will have a look on there. Are there anything specific I should look out for, or rather avoid when looking at buying one to restore?
  13. Would also like to see what you are selling them for.
  14. The scary thing about that race is that you can actually buy a H2 that can be used on the street.
  15. So I finally managed to read through all 274 pages of this thread. There is some seriously impressive work out there that puts everything I ever built or wanted to build to shame. Anyway, some background on myself. I have taught myself to do everything I know about woodworking by using books and youtube. I only have very basic tools (restricted budget; circular saw, jig saw, drill, router, orbital sander, a few chisels and a basic workbench with a small vice and a small assortment of clamps) and as a result, I normally would work with either ply or milled pine. I want to start doing some more hand tool work. I have decided that I want to get two hand planes, a number 4 and a 6 or 7. I want to restore two old planes myself, where can I look to get planes at a reasonable price, as mentioned budget is quite limited and I don't mind fixing something to use it.
  16. He knows his stuff. Just love the sound of that rotary.
  17. No worries, bumps the thread up!
  18. Taking a chance here. I am looking for a 50mm f1.8 Canon Lens if anyone is selling theirs drop me a pm and I will get back to you.

I received the print out for competency and then about a month later received an sms stating that I need to go and get my card. DFO said that they do competency cards again apparently.
  20. Did Jonkershoek today, Fire hut and then Armageddon from the third contour. Weather and the trails were absolutely brilliant today
  21. Really miss the 40km and 60km options as they were much more of a challenge. Did the 50km last year and not worth it IMO if you are looking for a "challenge".

Nice! The DFO should be able to print your competency while you wait for the card to arrive. You can use the printed competency certificate to apply for a firearm.
  24. Very nice! where did you buy? plus size tyres are pretty nice, they grip well and don't really feel heavier, they just look soooo heavy. Just remember to run lower pressures, I think someone mentioned between 17-21 psi (mine sits at 20 rear, 18-20 front), they are very sensitive to pressure changes.
