  1. Browsed through the website now and the bikes look awesome! Really tempted to buy a Rook One for my commuting, especially for the winter months ahead. Then my road bike can stay at home, safe and warm. I only have one climb on my commute back home, so the single speed is not an issue for me. Heck, it will only make me stronger with time!
  2. Unfortunately not, work is interfering... Luckily we are planning a ride to Franschhoek on Saturday.
  3. Hi Hubbers, Long story short, I bit the bullet and went over to the Dark Side. Saw an ad for a set of 2017 Giant SLR 1 carbon wheels and sent the seller (Cranker) a WhatsApp message holding thumbs it is still available. Must be my lucky day, it was! The reason why I wanted to create this post in the first place is that I was so impressed with Carlu's special care and effort with the sale. Firstly his communication was top notch, responsive and very detailed. Secondly, he was very honest (something that isn't that common these days). Now the best part, he went out of his way with safely, securing the wheels for me: "Your wheels are wrapped. I hope you have a sharp box knife. Please be careful when cutting the box open, so you don't cut the tyres. I wrapped them in a blanket and in cardboard." Oh, did I tell that he paid for the courier as well? This is why I love the Bike Hub platform. Cyclists looking out for other cyclists. Cannot wait to try the wheels out tomorrow on the road and grab some PRs (or even KOMs if I am lucky) Thank you Carlu for all your trouble and effort with the wheels, I really do appreciate it sincerely and if I ever come to Mossel Bay area I would like to join you for a ride and coffee afterwards. #RideOn
  4. JUST BREATHE Happy Monday All! PC: 'Dale Sent from my Redmi 4X using Tapatalk
  5. We had the same in 1F, especially going up climbs. Sent from my Redmi 4X using Tapatalk
  6. The Expo was meh... Being my first time, I expected new tech and bikes. Fair enough, who will buy a new bike before the race? Prices were okay, not mind-blowing at all. Bought some gels from GU. I did enjoy the free smoothie by cycling the smoothie bike for the 30s.
  7. Does anybody know where I can get Kool Stop brake pads here in SA? Looking for a decent set for my new Token wheels (aluminium braking surface) because my current set is just rubbish... Willing to spent a little more on a good set to prolong my longevity on the braking surface. Thanks! did not want to create a new thread for this question, so asked it here
  8. Not sure what your budget is Patch, but I have three suggestions: Bose QuietComfort 35 II Plantronics BackBeat PRO 2 SE Sony WH1000XM3
  9. Had the Core for a roughly a month now and it's the best investment I made for my cycling. Really helps to get the time in the saddle (structure too), even if you have a busy work schedule with long hours. This is the future for training. #RideOn
  10. Benedict Breakfast Ride Calories Burned: 3,459 Distance: 126km Elevation: 1,381m NP: 185W (3.08W/kg) Great to get a long ride in for a chance with work interfering the whole time... We actually anticipated windy conditions but it was not bad at all - beautiful morning to be frank. Roads were very busy and the start was misty. Luckily I had the 1000 lumen up front, and two rear lights to be visible. The ride also gave me a confidence boost that I really need for my last bit of training for the CTCT. To give context to the story, end of January I got ill which caused me to be off the bike for nine days. To put the cherry on the top, I also had a Vitamin D deficiency which is still ongoing but being treated with supplements. So afterwards I felt very weak and it was quite depressing getting dropped. Thanks to the indoor trainer, I was able to slowly build up my fitness again. After the hard work, we stopped in Stellies at Bootlegger for a lovely Benedict breakfast with sourdough bread and coffee.
  11. +1 Not to mention the long mileage you get out of them. My last set got close to 10 000km before a ugly glass cut unfortunately.
  12. Wahoo. I was originally in the market for the Elite Direto but boy was it a MISSION to get a store that has stock of it. Apparently there is a shortage of the units (not sure if it changed by now). Ended up buying the Wahoo Kickr Core, the Kickr 4 was just way out of my budget. Very happy with it thus far.
  13. Hi Zwifters! New to the world of indoor training - got me the Kickr Core recently and have a few questions. 1.) Do I need to calibrate my power meter before each ride? 2.) Where does one buy yourself the Zwift Subscription? Thanks. Ride On!
  14. This is amazing David! I'll download it after work today and will use this for my indoor sessions on the trainer to analysis my effort(s). Keep up the good and hard work.
  15. Wind & Rain = Very wet ride back home. First time commuting in such conditions but must it admit it was something new and actually fun. Although when I arrived home I was soaking wet!
  16. Anyone purchased one maybe and care to give some feedback? Looking at getting myself rather than an Elite Direto (due to the lack of stock anywhere) and the reviews online look great as well. Will be a bit more expensive but at least I see the shops have stock of it.
  17. Love my 4iiii Precision power meter and very accurate as well. Can highly recommend it!
  18. Well, looks like I am back to square one... Seems like the Direto is pretty much sold out everywhere and that most are also struggling with stock being held in customs. I think I might consider going with a Kickr Core.
  19. Thank you all for the input. Ordered the Elite Direto from Reform Cycles for R13 499.
  20. Yeah, I looked on their site. But eish, R16k is a bit too steep for me. I need to buy a cassette as well as a Zwift subscription. Ace Cycles price for R13 500 isn't that bad, allowing me to buy the extra's I need. The other option will be to get in contact with a person who has an account with the agents and maybe trying to get it a cost price. But I doubt that will happen. Will be cool though haha.
