  1. But now it's just a hardtail with a short travel front and drop bars.... 🙊😇
  2. Give ROLLA ONE a looky see also, do not go back to MyWhoosh. It's completely free, not heavy on resources, and the routes are actual video recorded routes. I use it just to keep going on those days I cannot get out onto the road/trails. Runners can use it also. https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=1a660872a8f0897ce725ffcf331cc8860ed789905bad787be1736a3b435b6fecJmltdHM9MTczMDY3ODQwMA&ptn=3&ver=2&hsh=4&fclid=1054cac5-745c-6e65-3540-dfe075c26fcc&psq=Rolla+One+cycling+app&u=a1aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cucm9sbGEuYXBwL3dvcmxk&ntb=1
  3. I also fired an e-mail off to them, enquiring if they are busy driving/following up on this.
  4. Have you contacted PPA to inform them of this situation, or to as if they are aware of it and what they are going to do about it? Serious question.
  5. Well done. Would you consider doing it for other people too? Dragged my Edge 130 out of the cupboard after two years of it not being used. (using a Instinct 2 watch now). You guessed it, dead as a doornail, does not take a charge, only starts up when on the charger.
  6. I can clearly remember those days. The trip down (before I semi grated to Cape Town) was almost more exciting than the race itself.Lots of planning went into it. And then there was the years we came down with the Shosholoza Meyl train. Man, what a blast that was. Not a worry in the world, got to CPT well rested and "carbo-loaded". But then the decline happened, and we missed the Expo completely because the train was late to CPT. Luckily, they collected our race packs and numbers for us (when the race pack was still something to look forward to) "Anyone doing under 4 hours was a racing snake." If this is the case, I must have been a racing snake back then. Did my first Argus, the detour over OKW, in about 3:42. My slowest was 4:33 on my Hardtail in '21. Also decided after that, never again......
  7. We should be (I am for sure) feel very blessed that we are still able to do what we love in the "advanced stages" of our life's.
  8. If I can get my motivation up again, and my fitness on par, a Sub 4 would do nicely.
  9. We were in the same start group then. We were already lined up when the decision to cancel was announced. To say I was slightly peeved is an understatement, because even today I'm still convinced 2009's wind was a lot stronger. (was also the year I was best prepared, did an 3:30 the wind notwithstanding) My goal was to do 21 in a row, but the two cancelled races put an end to that. Then I had a back operation in Feb this year and could not ride. This means my goal to have my 21 in the bag before I turn 60 is now "blown" away. So, 61 sounds like a good number to do 21, is it not?
  10. Thanks droo. I have an X9 Mtb rear derailleur on, so it should handle a 42 t at the back? My problem is that I'm more of a natural "grinder" with my avg cadence hanging around 80 rpm on my Roadie. I feel that I'm spinning out at 40 km/h on the flats with the GG. (Guess I'll have to work at upping my cadence, or just get fitter. Lol....)
  11. I am looking for advise as to what chainrings to use to complete my Mtb to Gravel Grinder conversion, AT A BUDGET, as this is a complete budget build. I'm currently using a Sram/Truvativ GXP crankset, which I would like to keep. It is a 104 BCD 4 hole crankset with a 38/24 teeth chainrings. Cassette is a 10 spd 11-36. I'm using this bike as a runaround not to overuse my Mtb and Roadbike (maintenance is expensive) thus I'm using it on road and for gravel when on training rides. I procured another crankset with 50/36 chainrings on, but the spindle/axle is too short as it's a roadbike crankset and the Mtb frame BB cup area is wider (silly oversight from me, as I knew this.) So, Hub Gurus, after this lengthy and rather clumsy introduction, what is my options out there to adjust my gearing to a bit more road/gravel bias whilst not breaking the bank. As said, I'm trying to keep cost down to a minimum. I would like to keep it 2x, to be able to use my current cassette, otherwise I'll have to source a 10spd 11-42 Mtb cassette to pair with a 42t chainring if I go the 1x route.
  12. I think this was done by a fellow cyclist as an interim "early warning" sign until the relevant authorities remedy this situation (if ever) Thank you to the kindhearted person who took time and iniative to do something.
  13. Lots of customization was done to create a truly special and one of a kind motorcycle. My concern is, will she be able to have it repaired in the back country should something go wrong. It's a true frankenstein build, even though it's all Yamaha, it's from a variety of models, modified to work with each other. But man, what a collection of XT, TT and Tenere's and parts does this guy have.
  14. Excellent choice, I would say. When she entered the workshop and I saw the Yammie's all around, I said it's going to be a 660, but the 600 is a good enough choice. Not too heavy or too high, so she should be able to handle it in all situasions. As Andy said, bombproof motor, as long as they modernise the ignition system.
  15. Once you get Rolla downloaded, it's a lot more intuitive than the other programs. App on your phone, and on your smart TV, and off you go. Takes a bit to figure it all out, but even me could get it going without too much swearing. At this stage quite restricted to number of routes, but what's there is sufficient for general fitness riding. I'm only using Rolla now, deleted the others.
  16. Good man for looking for help. Us "Cowboys don't cry" generation can be our own worst enemy. Strongs with the road ahead.
  17. Andy, accept my belated condolences with your loss.
  18. Why not try and get a Craft Beer manufacturer/supplier on board, and make the Liquor License his problem if he wants to expose his product to a captive market.
  19. No stress, I know you well to know it was not a challenge. My reply was in jest.
  20. Do you contest my statement???
  21. Who else still have their original Hub name? I've been Wannabe since day one.
  22. Looks like I'm within the first 100 members at #87.
  23. I consider myself to be one of the "elders" of the bikehub community, having joined in December 2004. Had many good discussions, a fight or two, and also made a good mate or two over the years. I still have hanging in my cupboard two sets of the Bikehub cycling kits, which I'm very "jealous" of and only take out for special rides or occasions. Thanks to Matt and his team for affording us the privilege to have such a great platform to our disposal.
  24. 85kg 1.9 Front (Vittoria Barzo 2.25) 2.0 Rear (Vittoria Barzo 2.25) Old Scott Spark DS Very little technical skills, rolls over almost everything, if I get "air" it was by chance. (so, a very careful rider, picks my lines very carefully) Only dinged one rear rim on a hidden rock I saw too late, cleared it with the front wheel, rear not so lucky. In summary, find what works for you, not everyone rides the same terrain or in the same manner.
  25. Kenda also makes a decent trainer tire. Bought mine from a Hubber.
