  1. Contact Robert Frost @frostyBOB (https://www.bikehub.co.za/user/19835-frostybob/) . He is extremely knowledgeable about electric kits. I believe the kits he has gives a range of about 30km and that is unassisted and on full throttle. He is the expert and will be able to better advise
  2. Pargo is another company. I tend to use the branch available at Clicks stores. For about R60, i send items with about 3 days delivery time. I use it because its convenient to me. https://pargo.co.za/
  3. I love this bike and want one myself. I love the fact that you can flip a chip, change wheels and go up to a 29er. Also, the plus size wheels and even in 29er mode, you can go up to a 2.6. Dual lock outs are good. The international reviews on this bike are brilliant. Please note that i DO NOT own this bike but want one badly and have watched tons of youtube vids on it - - so i'm an expert (lol)
  4. have a look at this review:
  5. The problem that we are experiencing is much bigger than our small cycling community. This problems affects pedestrians; passengers in bakkies, taxis, cars, busses; and so on. We have heard of Nino (RIP) because of this forum but we have not heard of the countless other deaths on our roads this weekend, many of which actually went unreported even to SAPS. We have good laws in this country but the problem is LAW ENFORCEMENT or the severe lack of it. I remember growing up with speed cops around that would stop and ticket you for not coming to a complete stop at a stop street. We were afraid of those guys but they are long gone. The point mentioned above about it taking 4 hours just to process a drunk driver is madness for the cop but so is the loss of life. Our communal problem is law enforcement in every aspect. If that were improved, even us as cyclist will ride single file.
  6. Depends on the rain and the ride: - If its a 30min, high intensity, around the block ride to get 300 vitality points; i'll take my MTB. - If its a road ride, with my road bike - no way. - If i'm on my MTB at a bike park and it starts raining, i just continue riding and enjoy the mudfest
  7. Seth is fun to watch. Pity he just hurt himself so no new riding vids coming soon but then with him, i'm sure he will have vids on what to do in your off the bike time - - so looking forward to those vids.
  8. Howick sounds fun - -need to go ride there sometime
  9. I always pay, either before or after. I generally ride at BRB or NF and have multiple ride tickets/cards for both places. Sometimes at BRB, i go in after my ride to get my ticket punched - but i know the guys there and more importantly, they know me. Must admit that i was riding Giba 2 Decembers ago. After paying and riding up those hectic switchbacks (i swore every meter up those things), we met up with a couple of guys entering the park from a different point. We stopped to lend the guys a pump and help them with a puncture. To repay our kind gesture, the guys happily told us that they ride Giba every weekend and never pay. They even pointed out how to enter without paying. So my take is that you will get the odd couple of people that will find a way in without paying just like you get the odd couple of people that will steal a chocolate bar at a store. The majority though will pay.
  10. Vegetarian for 24 years this year. No eggs but yes to dairy. I'm exactly 6 foot and weigh 96kgs. The lightest i've been over the last 10 years was 89kgs. My heaviest was 118kgs and that was four years ago. i'm busy trying to get back to 89kgs. Loosing weight is about what you eat and how much you eat. I cut down my portion sizes and automatically i started to loose weight. Now i'm slowly cutting down on the potato, bread, pasta, sugar, sweets, coke, chocolates, ice cream, alcohol and other big carb items - - ya i know - - it's all the bloody fun stuff that one has to cut out.
  11. Bought a Lyne 31.6mm x 125mm dropper for my hardtail. Completed my order on Monday afternoon at about 2pm, and received the product now (before 9am). This service is astounding. I'm in Centurion and the product was couriered from Cape Town. Apart from the courier, questions to the online email was answered extremely quickly and even when i called them before placing my online order, the service was brilliant. Thank you so much Dayle for such amazing service.
