  1. Finally, a Pinarello as it should be, kitted with Campag. Why settle for anything less....
  2. Folks, selling my 2004 Look KG381i. Would like to get a feeling of what a fair price would be. Will post pics later tonight. Size 55 CTC frame. Same frame used by Laurant Jalabert in his final Tour when he won KOM. Brilliant frame and in very good condition. See attached for reviews and geometry. Only reason I'm selling, top tube is too long. Frame is ideally suited to guys 1.8m in length. built up bike in 2004 but took off two years due to studies so only rode for first time in Feb 2006 Medallion Tour de Stellenbosch and in races since until ACT 2011. Is R4000 asking too much? Frame, headset,Look HSC4 fork, USE Alien Carbon seatpost LOOK KG 381i.doc
  3. I have two bikes, one for training and one for that I use for racing. It happened more by chance in that I built up a bike about 8 years ago as a treat and kept teh older one for training. It is a lot more expensive maintaing two bikes. I do enjoy the fact that i do not have to change putting on racing hweels the night before a race, it feels great when you ride the "race machine" as it is much lighter with much better components. That said, my second steed has decent group set Campy Veloce. Also, I dont have any hassles riding in wet weather when on the training bike. If your 8 speed gives a decent ride, then I'd say train on it, and leave the "feel good" factor when you take out the light carbon on race day. The hills just seems easier as well which is great for your confidence.
  4. can deal with the cold, cannot stand getting wet and cold. Indoor trainer for wet days or when getting up too early just ain't gonna happen
  5. I find that the ride is never quite the same after.Because you pump these babies up so hard you can feel the patch inside tubby. I rode with one for alomst two years and it was OK. The next one I fixed rolled a lot worse perhaps bad job), so took off after one ride. So nowadays, it is throw away for me after punctures. Touch wood last one was in the 2008 ACT
  6. tx for the positive response guys. Can't wait to see what you have Klaus, and thanks for sharing
  7. I have just invested in a Tacx Flow and I am looking forward to do some serious indoor training this winter. I have surfed the web for some good indoor programs for those cold wet winter days. It seems some guys use their indoor trainers as pat of their training plans in summer as well. Woulds like to hear from you where I can obtain some good indoor training programs from the web. What program do you follow which has led to noticable improvements in your performance. Also, what keeps yo motivated sitting on the trainer for an hour or so? Look forward to hearing from you. Regards
  8. I did not do any funrides or ACT for two years because of studies and they threw me from B in my previous ACT to PD in 2006. I asked them to please consider, gave them my reasons for not being actively involved and they subsequently have me an "E" seeding that year. So perhaps there is a logical reason. Let's not speculate too much about a fairly trivial matter.
  9. GCM, looks a lot like my Vittoria that was stolen from my garage about 5 yrs ago. go 10sp, and enjoy the extra ratios
  10. I know there is this mystique around a sub 3 Argus. But your best year should really be your best finishing position. The numbers have remained at around 35000 for the last number of years so you have goos base to see if you had a good, better or real crappy race based on where you finished overall.
  11. bro, not judging your actions, just be careful what u say on a public medium like the hub
  12. hmmmm, seem to recall something like this sometime in the past, but I reckon Rodti is correct, let's b careful what we say on this medium. if it's any consolation, they must have thought u had a cutie ass
  13. to me there will only be value if the combined monthly costs of the device plus (hopefully) new reduced insurance premium is lower than the current insurance premium.
  14. sorry if I have not seen you advertise frame price before. What does that particular frame sell for? She is a beauty.
  15. so much has been said on this subject, however this morning I read this interesting article. I think the Armstrong issue is seen through a different lens than most of the discussions on this sit so far. My link
  16. only one thing not quite so right about those first foto's Tankman, the bike's kitted out with Shimano (yikes) but ooooohhhhh those Lightweights ooohhh ****, excuse me off to the gents......
  17. yes they are, I only ride with vittoria cx and if you puncture, that's R700 bucks bye bye. They just not the same after fixing them. As for racing, hey your race is done once you puncture anyway, you can still ride to the end or be like me, hike and catch a lift back yo your car. Believe me, once you have raced on a set of good wheels with dood tubbies it is very hard going back to HP's. Been riding them since 1999. No way I'm changing to HP's again.
  18. should have been in the correct gear before you start sprinting mate. have you been winning any sprints while changing gears?
  19. it is this kind of water stops that's makes you lose 10-15 mins on your time.
  20. spot on Hond, the best upgrade you can make to any bike starts with the wheels. Perhaps t-girl needs to look at a combo of alu and a carbon rear triangle.
  21. Both Sram and Shimano are simply giving the bike manufacturers better deals hence the why the bikes are advertised or sold with these two groupsets on them. As for top teams, its all about who the sponsor is. Contador does not decide what grp set he will ride with, in fact until Lance joined Astana, they rode with Campag, but I guess he got Sram to sponsor teh team when he joined. For me, thoroughbred Italian beuty can only have one grp set on it. Campag. nuff said
  22. like baie sukkel I ride Campag, although started out with Shimano many years back. ALl I can say is i know two friends who don't really enjoy the doubel tap system as "sometimes do not get into the correct gear" for the sprints. If you are happy with your current Ultegra suggest you stay. What difference will a few grams make anyway.
  23. Mate, you worry me
  24. Has anyone out there have or used a set. Your views and comments would be appreciated. It seems like these chainsets do not get the best reviews when doing my research. Believe its been replaced by SLK Force. Should I steer away from this carbon chainset and stick to my alloy Records?
