  1. Is this mainly gravel grinding or is there some singletrack?
  2. Good racing today but some hairy moments with big trucks and traffic...nice vitality snack & drink afterwards. Note sure whether it's money well spent.
  3. Why not adopt a permanent number / board like SASeeding does for MTB? It really cannot be that hard - the SAS Board is 50 bucks and contains a chip.
  4. I am new to road racing but i keep on getting a distinct feeling that I'm being ripped off. Once that cost-benefit calculation starts running in my head, the FUN slowly drains away. Pity.
  5. JCZA, Please explain this comment some more. Sorry, I don't understand all the roadie nuances yet.
  6. But the GRID's are heavy as hell...they're the toughest / heaviest tyre that Spez makes...hence the "heaviness"
  7. Thanks for the feedback. Fast Traks are sketchy as #### on the front...ground control is a great all round tyre, in my opinion.
  8. ...or The Spruit or Sani2C or the average bike park (Modders, PwC) or the Cradle MTB loop or gravel grinding (e.g. Breedt's)...that covers 90% of most peeps' technical tyre requirements. I'm asking because i find the fascination with huge knobblies a bit overkill...unless it's "met knoppies vir extra genot..."

  10. this is not a troll but an honest question: does a more "aggressive" front tyre REALLY help in Gauteng conditions, viz. sand, pebbles, stones over hardpack? Is there anything for the extra tread to actually grip on or dig into?
  11. 54km. Taking a light this time - sh@t myself in the long tunnels last year.
  12. #metoo #alltheway
  13. ...alternate shouting STRAVA! and TRACK! every thirty seconds...
  14. I thought that i was the only one of the view that a bright strobe at the front was a bad idea. Thanks for this post. The idea is to be VISIBLE, not blind / piss-off oncoming traffic.
  15. Also, don't underestimate what happens when the aura of invincibility fades - just ask Tiger Woods.
  16. Ariane does NOT sound happy. Her soundbites / comments are very negative.
  17. 6% cashback IF IF IF IF you are on DIAMOND. Therefore, 3% cashback for us suckers on Gold. Yowzers, that's A HUGE INCENTIVE - 30bucks on a R1,000 pair of tackies.
  18. But what does "up to 10x discovery miles" actually mean in South African RANDS? disco is going the same way as ebucks - too complex and thus no-one really cares anymore.
  19. this is an awesome story - GOOD LUCK for 36one. . we should never take what we have for granted: . every time I swing a leg over a bike (road or mtb or stationary), i remind myself to be grateful that i can ride.
  20. all i see is the destruction of the things that made me proud to be a south african...in this case, a bike race that is part of the social fabric of cape town...replaced by chaos and violence and lawlessness and destruction of property that achieves NOTHING constructive... what a crying shame. i am so very sorry for all you guys and girls that made all the effort to train, enter and get to cape town.
  21. R30k for the 29ers and R20k for the 27.5 - why the 50% price difference?

    Cricket......

yip, you're right. i forgot his age counts against him (or, rather, his late selection does). Let's hope his eyes hold. Perhaps we should promote Behardien to the top of the order, like his promotion to capt of the T20 side? [joke]

    Cricket......

I disagree - Cook is the right guy to open. It's the toughest job in cricket and he has the pedigree to make a good, if not great, opener.
