  1. http://buffelsdriftmtb.co.za/ Quite a drive out there but definitely worth it for the regular trails. The enduro lines look HECTIC, ie unrideable on an XC bike. FYI, it gets HOT in the summer.
  2. Big sale during March on MERIDA HARD TAILS at Bike Addict - 25%-30% off. Worth a look.
  3. This ^^^^ + Spez bottles are the best combo for road and MTB - I've never lost a bottle. If you are *** fancy, you can get the Spez CARBON bottle cage for ZAR1,000
  4. Thanks for the information. Are you going to take any action against the name calling / ad hominem attacks already on this thread?
  5. Attacks ad hominem. THIS is why i come on the hub...
  6. Go to the local bike shops and ask for a demo bike for a day or two. I know that lynnwood cycles (the spez shop) has a demo fleet. Try the Spez Epic hardtail, if possible. Alternatively, try the Chisel, which is cheaper (v. light alu frame) but has the same geometry. Don't really know the other shops' demo fleets but you're already at asg, so ask them too. Cycle lab is another option for scott, silverback etc. Lastly, check out solomon's for titan racing (you may be surprised). Good luck, and don't let the salesmen force you into buying anything without riding it first. Buying this wilier would be like buying an 2016 alfa...it's pretty and italian but with outdated tech...
  7. Wilier makes some great road bikes...but it appears that this mtb is a bit old school when it comes to its geometry. The head tube angle is steep (even for an XC bike) at 70.5%, where a 2020 Epic is at 68.5%. The reach is also sorter than on modern bikes. Modern XC bikes are - generally speaking - longer, lower and slacker than this Wilier. It depends on what you're going to use the bike for, of course.
  8. you should get 5,000km's easily out of your GX cassette (with regular chain replacement)
  9. Putting the "TIT" back into TITanium!!!!
  10. Yip, Spez SA didn't even bother to import the new Fuse (trail HT 29er). I suspect the dealers are still trying to shift the previous 27.5 fattie models that were imported in 2015/6...
  11. Does anyone even stock the Slade? Been looking around and can't find one, except online
  12. if you are serious about getting the correct fit, Cycle Fit in Northcliff, which is better than the Specialized Body Geometry (?) fit (in my opinion).

    Sani2C - TRAIL

Why not just enter at https://entries.sani2c.co.za/ ? Are they sold out already?
  14. Sorry to hear about Euodia - hadn't heard the news. Used/visited them when often when on holiday in Hermanus.

    Cricket......

Look, if the gods of cricket were in any way fair: WE SHOULD WIN THE FLIPPING TOSS Elgar due a big innings Faf due a 50 Bavuma in good form Rassie looking ok QdK always a dangerman Between them they should be able to rack up 300+. Then the question is whether we can bowl the Poms out in the absence of Rababa - maybe Hendricks can do it?

    Cricket......

What are the chances of us scoring 300? If we don't, we can kiss the match and the series goodbye.
  17. I agree 100%, as I've witnessed some of the worst driving imaginable on that road... My personal favourite would be the predilection for "undertaking" large trucks by using the space to the LEFT of them in the yellow line.
  18. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, that's the final thing that i am reading on the hub for 2019.
  19. Rides: 148 Total: 5394km Elev: 41,741m All MTB - was a good year and rode mainly for pleasure.
  20. return the pedals under warranty or take them to your LBS for a grease and reassembly. my old xt pedals with many thousands of km's on them were almost as good as new after a regrease. did not cost much either, IIRC
  21. i am really really sorry, dude. unfortunately, south africa has some sh!tty people...it's a great pity that you had to get to meet them on the wrong side of a gun barrel. this will sound trite but, at the very least, you are OK and uninjured. You're in a sh!tty hotel but it could easily have been a very sh!tty hospital or worse. take care and all the best. hope they catch the bastards.
  22. Remember when the violent Melville bikejackers got caught, along with many R1,000s of bikes, after a HUGE effort by the community, ratepayers, security, SAPS......................... ..............................................and the Newlands Mag Court gave them each R500 spot fines?
