  1. thanks v12.just came back from surgeon.took new x rays and everything was fine.any idea of time frame before running or walking again.
  2. Greetings to all hubbers. It seems i am having a run of bad luck in stead of running.I broke my foot to be more spesific the 5th metarsal on a brick run on 23 feb this year.was operated on 1 march where the surgeon opened up and did an internal fixating with some wire and 2 pins.the pins and wire is coming out in about 2 weeks from now.foot is still swollen and struggling to walk properly.went from a cast with 2 crutches to moonboot with 2 crutches then 1 crutch then only moonboot and today is the first day of normal shoe.is there anyone out there who had something similar.lucky is was after 70.3 but i had to follow IM from the couch.I have been swimming with a pull bouy as i cannot kick as yet.any ideas apart from pain is your friend?
  3. even with a wetsuite it is cold.everything that sticks out is sort of puffy and frozen after a while.
  4. snytjie i see there is also knysna forrest marathon in july if it is not too far into winter for you.as to the stepping to marathon i would guess(and it is only a guess) that you do not have to cover 43 in training and i think 32 odd in training would be fine.i am also working on my running and biking this winter coming off a nice 70.3.patience is key and that translates to less injuries.
  5. x terra and terry for me as well.i see that kevin the fish richards has a new brand blue smooth.google kev and see his credentials. as far as i can remember his suits were very decently priced ie sub R 2000.
  6. just watch out that the flapping straps do not get tangled in the rear wheel.think horse bridle.first hand experience.roll them up and cable tie.
  7. anyone knows of a tri shop in and around ct to have measurements done?
  8. wheelsuck i have been ridiculed for years in my family being ape positive 12 cm.i get back at them by smooth slow motion swimming.thanks for the constructive advice.
  9. thanks gadget.i look at the classifieds and nevermind the size i do not know whether to look at a giant trinity or a cervello or an argon or bmc or whatever.just need a starting point. will ggogle to find retul fit okes in and around cape town
  10. Morning to all hubbers.I am in the mrket for a TT bike having completed a few triathlons this year and 70.3 a week or 2 ago.I have completed all off my rides on an old giant tcr hybrid with clip on bars.I am aware that fit is key so where do you start? It is easy to say ride a few bikes but not very practical.Wehere would one start to figure out what brand/geometry etc would work for you.I am 1.86 m tall, but built like and ape as my arm from tip to tip is nearly 2 m.what are the basics to look at before deciding?not in a hurry to buy.Any ideas would be appreciated.
  11. around the rocks 2.5 km swim on 15 Feb 2014.registration at 7am race at 9am R100 entry fee.swimming from blouberg to eden around the outside rocks.www.NTRI.co.za.
  12. entered extreme swim around the rocks in 2 weeks and peninsula 21,1km the following day.maybe that will work.
  13. I have a question. Is it normal to suffer from post race blues.I am realy struggling after the race euphoria of 70.3.Anyone else out there in the same boat and how to take it further.
  14. some looneys out there.saw oke without helmet coming up durban road against the 3 lanes of traffic just past tygervalley centre yesterday afternoon at about 17hoo.that was after i had to swerve to avoid hitting oke coming up eversdal road and not bothering to stop at the very red robot.
  15. terry from xterra wetsuites normally have a type of gezebo at the races where you can rent from.if doing the short one wont bother with wetsuite.if long consider it.
  16. entered 70.3 and started training consistently jan last year.24 kg less of me this jan.i think consistent training rather than every now and then is key.
  17. did the minimum.sort of ok swim, maintained on the bike with nothing spectacular, but also no real problems.clocked 6m/km for the first lap of the run and then 5:10/km for the second lap.felt strong so no problems for me.used the race to fine tune nutrition and to run off the bike.next up will be jan 26 after a bit more training over the festive season.learned my lesson re the sunburn at slanghoek so no problems this time around.all in all nice solid race for me.
  18. i enjoyed the goodie drum.

flat warm and windy sort of sums it up.
  20. not on the swim but then again i do not do the same distances and top out in training at about 3 km.i have pins and needles in my left hand currently with a marked drop in pincher power between thumb and the next finger.ist is to such a degree that i cannot shift properly on the mtb lately.going to a dr as well.physio also said pinched nerve somewhere.i guess it is from all the spinning classes of late.i hope you get sorted because it is irritating and even worse not knowing what it is.good luck.

    Triathlon ......

breakfast oates pap with some honey,2 slices of toast and 2 lekker koffies 3 hours before training.i set my alarm to go and eat and then go back to sleep.2 bottles of 32gi on the bike with 2 roctanes over a period of a 100km ride.on the run just water with a roctane every hour.the biggest differencewas when changing to roctane.btw dischem is cheapest.

    Triathlon ......

been training for some time now and at long last found out what works for me nutrition wise.big step forward.many months of trial and error.realized again that what works for one person does not always work for another.for me it is more the journey than the race in the end.looking forward with abated breath.
