  1. More or less. It'a mapped to a constant though. sport scientist have shown that in cycling an ideal weight to height ratio to have is 2. Contador, Pantani et al is sitting very close to a constant of 2
  2. * 39.37 is the same as x 39.37 i.e multiply by 39.37
  3. As we are not PRO's <2.5 is acceptable. Midway between 2 and 2.5 is very good
  4. His a cyclist. His meant to be anorexic
  5. As mentioned earlier, anything below 10% is very good. It's probably better to think in terms of your optimal race weight based on your height. Optimal race weight constant = weight(kg) x 2.2 / height(m) * 39.37. Pro climbers have an optimal race weight constant of 2
  6. When you visit your bank manager to explain to him that you cannot meet your bond payments this month because there was some illness in the family...... In the meantime you have spent this month's bond payments on a new groupset
  7. Hi, Shoudl you have an FTP for the road as well as the IDT, if most of your weekly training comprises IDT? I'm posing the question considering that your IDT FTP in most cases is lower than your road FTP
  8. Hi, What software package would you recommend for analyzing your power files? 1. Golden Cheetah 2. Training Peaks 3. WKO+ Is there anything missing in WKO+ that Training Peaks has which I might miss out on? Don't know much about Golden Cheetah
  9. Just a thought. Are you measuring speed using gps or via magnetic pickup. If using gps why not install the speed sensor (more accurate and reliable)
  10. Coolheat for parts
  11. Hi Minion, OK through trial and error I figured it out. The Garmin fitness plugin for Sporttracks exports the file to a folder called new files on the Edge 500. Don't know why. Had to manually copy it to the workouts folder. Also I had to delete the other categories like IDT, road that I had setup in Sporttracks. Somehow it only wanted to look at the category cycling.
  12. Created a power workout and tried to expot it to the Garmin. Go to workouts and it doesn't appear there. Any advice?
  13. PPA organized racers does NOT require you to ave a day license. This was feedback that I received from the PPA more than a month ago.
  14. I don't think so much that the money is the issue, but the principal itself. if I were a league racer, I would not hesitate to pay the required license fees. The point of the matter is WHY do funriders have to pay it? After all they riding for fun (albeit some seriously)
  15. i had one a week before the Argus. It gave me the flu.
  16. I repeat that if any funriders or serious funriders have any sense, they should avoid entering any races that require them to pay for a day license.
  17. As a funrider and a PPA member I cannot accept paying for a day license. Let the racers pay if they wish. If all the funriders avoid this event, perhaps some feathers will be ruffled. Can't see this event bein successfull without the support of funriders
  18. Hi, I would be interested to know what metrics you use on your display when 1. Racing 2. Doing intervals 3. On a long training ride
  19. Hi, OK, so I took my powertap out for it's first long ride. The metrics that I was monitoring was elapsed time, average power, power 3s and lap power. After a while I stopped looking at the power on the Edge. The flucuations was a bit too much on the eye. I'm not sure how you guys get used to it. I didn't try to ride in any particular band of power, but I can see that this could be very difficult. Again how do you guys do it? Given a band of power to ride in sy 250W-280W are you able to maintain this with ease. See power distribution attached
  20. Thanks Minion....nice and informative. If you were doing a 100km training ride that has some hills in it and your intention is to ride at say 90% of FTP. How do you maintain this wattage as the wattage will very(in some cases quite significantly) with each pedal stroke. Watts seem to fluctuate "quicker" than speed or cadence, so it's knda difficult to keep an eye on it
  21. Hi, I'm new to using a Powertap with the Edge. Are there any tips/tricks for the settings on the Edge? For Example 1.Should smart recording be on/off? 2. Should auto pause be on/off 3. Average with zeroes Yes/No Any other tips on how you use your edge with a powertap would be appreciated. Power reading flucuate quite a bit in a ride. What averaging to you use to deal with it. What metrics do you look at when you ride?
  22. Meezo, do you know any of them and how I could contact them
  23. Sorry man, but there was a group of guys today in MTN Qubeka kit that did the Peninsula today. I;m just trying to get into contact with them. They were social riders I think they were training for the DC. They had a coach with them and goes by the name of Franscois
