  1. Echoing what Luck Luke has to say. Elecronic shifting is probably worst cycling concept ever. More marketing crap to fleece us from more money. I could just well imagine the cost to maintain such a groupset, should something go wrong. With electronics anything can and will go wrong at any time Electronics techs rubbing their hands in glee.
  2. Hi, Is there anyway I can salvage my cycling shoe. Stripped the thread inside one of the holes on the shoe trying to tighten cleats
  3. Anyone using it or know where to get them.
  4. It's meant to be an arb post, but seriously if you riding a R50K + bike you don't wan't your water bottels looking like crap ...and no I ride a western flyer
  5. Hi, This may seem trivial, but the screen printing on most of the water bottles that I have used, seems to peel off in the first couple of uses. Within the first 2 weeks, it looks like it has been through the wars. Have you used any where the printing STAYS ON for longer
  6. If you looking to upgrade your groupset them SRAM would be a no brainer with a PM thrown in the mix. Review of the SRAM/Quarq PM here http://pelotonmagazine.com/Goods/content/11/1238/Quarqs-New-RED-Power-Meter
  7. Which club is this?
  8. Hi, I notice there is a growing trend to have both rear and front dropouts made of carbon. I could only assume that this makes the production process easier as there is no bonding of dissimilar materials. This obviously suites bike manufacturers, marketing it under the guise of weight saving But how safe is it? There is also a trend from some skewer manufacturers to explicitly warn against using their skewers on frames with carbon dropouts. So are we limited to using specific skewers then?
  9. Yep saddle pointing upwards. I've tightened the bolts as tight as can be and still it points upwards after riding for a while. Just tightened again. Tried to tilt the saddle by applying pressure with my hands to front and back and NO TILT. Will go out again and see if the problem persists
  10. This is my 3rd ride out with this seatpost and on every occassion the saddle ended up pointing upwards. Very frustrated about this and I'm thinking of ditching it. Any solutions? Also what are you thoughts on carbon and alu seatposts? Which carbon seatpost is preferable. I has a Thomson Elite seatpost before with zero issues.
  11. Hi, Train smarter not harder. I know of sub vets chalking out sub 3 that haven't done a Vo2Max test. Get yourself a coach and see your results improve. Also if you overweight, lose the love handles and see improvements instantly
  12. A sock is just that, a sock. Would you spend more than a 100 quid at woolies for a pair of socks to wear to work?
  13. Check out this thread on the hub https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/58358-clear-coat-help/

  15. Sent an email to club 100 a month ago via their website. No reply
  16. Hi, Are there any groups/individuals residing in the Southern Suburbs that I could join on weekends for a ride?
  17. Now I'm not so sure about Club 100 Cape Town. Sent them an email via their website more than a month ago and still haven't received a reply. It appears this club only caters for elite riders or those who have the potential to become elite riders
  18. Yeh well done Clive Seebregts
  19. Implementing a dynamic online catalogue is not rocket science. Part of the problem is competition. They afraid to let the competition know what their prices are. Ongoing malaise in the cycling industry
  20. What cluster are you riding Andre?
  21. Hi, As the previous poster stated. More rpm's on the climbs and a little bit extra omnthe upper end (flats) using an 11. I'm tall and weigh 87kg and not exactly young. Have been doing well on the standard 53/39 and 12-25 thus far, but cannot compete with someone weighing 70kg. From a physiology standpoint the lowest in terms of which I could/should allow my weight to drop is about 79kg. Even then I will look emaciated. Find it difficlut to compete with the youger guys on the climbs. In the interim, I have done a bit of calculations ans I'm thinking of keeping the 12-25 and going compact. This is what I've calculated Going compact 50/34 with the same 12-25 will give me a 16.1% increase in rpm's on the same % incline. e.g if you were doing 62 rpm with 53/25, you will do 73 rpm with a 50/25. You will lose 6.1% on the upper end 53/12 vs 50/12, but can easliy be compensated for this by upping my cadence on a flat (for me this would mean upping it by 6 rpm) The 53 x39 and 11-28 would give me an 11.29% gain in the lower gears, but I would then have to compromise on wider gear shifts in the middle. So for me at least I think it is a done deal. Compact it must be
  22. Hi, The above configuration does not come standard in the Ultegra or 105 range. Only Dura Ace comes in an 11-27 (Very suprising). Thought of building an Ultrgra/105 version but I'm told the sprockets are not sold loose. Standard 7900 configuration 11 12 13 14 15 17 19 21 24 27 Standard 6600 configuration: 12 13 14 15 16 17 19 21 24 27 Was thinking of dropping the 16T on the Ultegra and adding an 11T to mimmick the Dura Ace. For some reason the sprockets are not sold loose and you can't find the 6600 anymore.
  23. This thread is clearly a PRANK. the original poster has gone AWOL or has been abducted by a GIANT.
