  1. @Tankman You seem to be the guru on SportsTrack. Have you migrated to version 3 (paid version)? If so isn't having to purchase the different plug - ins from different people just annoying. Paying $10 here and $10 there. Will load it shortly and see what the trial version does.
  2. @Tankman Using sporttracks can I compare data for between rides on the exact same route. Eg can I superimpose heart rate for example for the 2 rides on the route and see the graphs side by side Thanks
  3. Search the hub. Previous posts indicate that it is not a problem.
  4. Hi, Has anyone got a sample garmin FIT file for me. Trying to establish the capabilties of WKO+
  5. Hi, I'm using Garmin Edge 500 and Windows(XP).
  6. Hi, I did a bit of research and narrowed it down to the following applications. 1. Garmin Training center 2. Golden Cheetah 3. WKO+ 4. SportTracks Note that training is based on Heart rate. Which is the best application to use to drill down into the data. For example for a section of a ride I want to know what my average and max heart was. What the average speed and average caedence for that same section is.
  7. Hi, Max HR is a poor predictor of performance. If training by HR then rather use LTHR (lactate), which is the average heart rate acheived during an all out sustained effort lasting 30 minutes. Base your training zones on LTHR
  8. Another advantage that Garmin has over any other potential competitor is pricing. They bought a company called Metrigear which has already developed the technology for power based pedals. What this means is that far less money is spent on R&D and they could then be competitive on their pricing. As for Powertap, IMO they history. Maintenance is a nightmare. With the power based pedals, it can easliy be transferred from training to racing bike or MTB for that matter
  9. If Polar persists with their propriety Wearlink protocol and refuse to adopt ANT+ as they have in the past, then they have once again shot themselves in the foot. The memory of having to send our units away to have a battery replaced is still fresh in our minds
  10. Is Garmin bringing power to the people. Power transmitted from the pedals. This must surely be a serious threat to Powertap and SRM. If they get it right this will revolutionize cycling and if the price is right, make training with power a reality for avid cyclists. Can independently read power from each pedal. No more tied down to a particular wheelset (Powertap). Can't wait. Rumoured to be released this year and competitors are getting nervous
  11. Hi, Do you use GTC or Sporttracks? Are there any major dofferences between the two. On the same ride both applications report the data differently for top speed and elevation. Have any of you experienced this? I'm told the latest version of GTC is better than SportTracks. Is this your experience?
  12. HI, Interested to know which hubbers train with power. What system are you using? Has this improved your cycling? Are you a league racer?
  13. Sure, but with that pricing strategy they might not be in business for long!
  14. You thinking from a photographer's perspective. R48.00 for a digital pic is a ripoff! A fair price or market related price is determined by what people are prepared to pay for it. Sure you don't have to buy it, but everyone would like some memories of the event and are prepared to pay for it at a reasonable price!
  15. Hi, What is yout typical cadence on a flat which you can maintain for at least 20 minutes and what gear ratio are you in? What is your cadence on a hill (assume Suiklerbossie for comparison sake) and what gear ratio would you be using? Is cadence still relevant?
  16. Hi, Currently riding on my own. Looking for someone to join in mostly on weekends. Mainly Sundays. Alternatively if I can join you
  17. I used to use energy drinks high in maltodextrin and fructose. I have consistenlty proved ater the past 2 months doing 5 hour rides that there is no need for it. Use water and if need be a simple Powerade/Energade in the other bottle. Save your money. All the other energy drinks is pure hype.
  18. Hi, After trolling through Cape Union Mart, Due South and Cape Storms and not finding anything suitable (mostly summer buffs and exorbitantly priced), I approached Rapid Sports in Cape Town They promptly made one up for me to try (not their stock standard item). The complete inside of the buff is "fleecy material". The buff itelf is breathable. Based on feedback, this will become their stock standard item (and priced very reasonalbly). Should you be interested contact them direclty.
  19. Thanks found some here http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Brands.aspx?BrandID=789
  20. The "thingy" around his neck!
  21. Hi, Anyone know what the correct term for the head gear in this pic is? Is it a balaclava?
  22. I'm told ballet helps with your cycling as well
  23. Cycling does not draw the crowds, even the Two Oceans was screened on Telly.. This topic was raised before here..Perhaps too elitist??
  24. Shame poor roadies. Less lycra and more training!
  25. Sufferfest videos are cool and so are many other videos. These are not programmes but workouts
