  1. Next time I will be a bit more forceful, but hopefully the guy(and others that do the same) is on thehub and reads this post and I don't need to be.. ;-)
  2. Thanks - I understand the whole echelon story and that wasnt going on at the time, there was 2 guys upfront doing all the work (their own choice) and there was no movement, it was simply 2 lines..
  3. Ha ha - Lets hope it stays on track - but this is thehub afterall ;-) Guys please - I know everyone has an opinion on the subject of road riding in the traffic, but if we could stick to the topic, it would be swell  tnx
  4. thanks, it happened on Saturday morning and i asked the guy nicely to please stick to the wheel in front of him, so that i can stick the wheel in front of me.. but he was rather rude in his reply and didnt seem to agree with me.. saying it was his line to ride.. I decided to be calm (after a few colorfull words to myself) and eventually he moved further back - i am sure to p!ss someone else off..
  5. so you think a 50 cyclist long line is safer than a 2x 25 cyclist line, its still difficult to pass a single cyclist, image it was over a 100m of cyslists? but i am not asking that question, i am asking the question about etiquette in the group, not here to debate the rules of the road
  6. 40-50 people riding together isnt going to work single file...
  7. Hi Guys (and Gals) Just a question re group road training rides. When riding 2 abreast in a long line, I understand it to be etiquette to stay behind the wheel in front of you. You ride 2 people, handle bar to handle bar, shoulder to shoulder in a long line. Sticking as close to the wheel in front of you.. You get people(riding next to you in the line) who force their way right in between the 2 riders in front of them overlapping their wheel with the guys in front of you and basically force you out of the line and into the wind. You also get forced out further into the road, which is risky as you get pushed out into traffic. It isn’t a race with road closure, where the group can ride a line across the road away from the wind, you gotta stick to the line. They are basically “stealing” all the protection for themselves, By almost riding with their brakes up against the 2 seats in front of them. Am I correct in saying this is selfish and isn’t the right thing to do? Maybe I am wrong and I just don’t understand the etiquette, but the way I see it, we all need to be in position in the peloton. Especially on a training ride, it’s not a race where people are jostling for position. your thoughts?
  8. any bike shop should have, I bought some yesterday at solomons for my Easton freehub services... shimano hydraulic mineral oil should do
  9. BB30(Cannondale)[13] Press fit, not threaded No cups 68mm (road) or 73mm (MTB) 42mm
  10. bb30 is a standard, all the same, search for that..
  11. http://www.velo.co.za/special.php for velo members only, but if you join for R300 for the year, the price still seems pretty good..
  12. does it need a converter? if not, do it yourself, its pretty straight forward.
  13. will then my reply was totally lost on you
  14. touché sweetheart.. touché
  15. This reaction of yours to a previous question is what I am talking about. And don't worry, I don't need any attention, thanks for asking though.. No dude, I'm glad I got caught. What a rush... I'm off to SARS in a bit to make some confessions, if i make it out then it's off to the traffic dept. Hell, if they're leanient enough, I'm off to O R Tambo to shout BOMB really loud at International arrivals.
  16. Barry, it seems you love all this attention? admitting to something you have done doesn't take a lot or doesn't make you "the man", especially if you are enjoying the "rush" of it all. you shouldn't be enjoying this, you are basically making a mockery of the whole thing. its like a school boy who boasts about being caught for doing something wrong and how many beatings he got from the principle..
  17. SOOOOOOPA strong
  18. No way, damnit Barry, been telling you for years to get off the juice - what's wrong with you?? by the way who is Barry Warmback?
  19. Had 2 close calls with the same idiot on saturday - ridding in the wrong direction - once in Groenies then again in fountains.. same dude - rules dont seem to apply to him.
  20. What did you pay for this if you dont mind me asking?
  21. Moaning at other cyclists will get us nowhere - we must just do our bit, obey the rules of the road - hopefully it will rub off on everyone else.
  22. Good Idea - but you will need front and back cameras - could become costly..
  23. Could be exhaust damage? how low does the bike ride on the bike rack..
  24. only someone that has never ridden a lefty could possibly be a lefty hater..
  25. I got one on my car and my Thule - you can get one in the ride or bicycling magazine - cant remember which, I bought both yesterday..
