just checked on the results, I did the second fastest bike leg overall, then one of the slowest run legs overall.. haha

Exactly - the only thing that got me through it was telling myself to learn to suffer through this, if i had quit, it would have meant nothing.. many lessons learnt... ;-)

That was the hardest thing i have ever done... SWIM - 42 min tough tough tough, the wind and chop were a killer MTB- 2:30ish That mud, Clay and wind was insane, i thought i had left enough in the tank for the run..big mistake RUN - 2:51 I fell apart totally on the run, i got a spasm in my back and couldn't run, it was insanely painful.. almost hurled a few times. lap 1: 1:05 lap 2: 1:46 (i walked most of the way, it took everything in me not to throw in the towel) done and dusted and a great lesson learnt, keep as much as possible for the run, lose 10 minutes on the bike and run well, save 10 minutes on the bike and lose 60 min on the run... EINA great event though...

Not a bad option, keep my road bike, buy a tri frame, transfer the parts, then once IM is done, put everything back onto the road frame.. I see HED have started renting wheels for races, maybe get some nice race wheels from them for the day... tnx

So I have entered the half and full ironman - will do the half on my road bike with tribars etc. but for Full I want to do it on a Tri Bike. I don't want to buy a tri bike as my first Kid is due 3 weeks later and the expenses for that is just too much at this stage. (read: Wife will kill me) does anyone know of somewhere to rent a Tri bike, would rent it for a month, maybe 2 before IM, to do the last few weeks of training on the bike I will race? any ideas.. Is there maybe anyone out there, not doing IM that would rent the bike in a private capacity, excluding wheels, those are most at risk of being damaged..?

I was at hotspot yesterday and there was a Carbon 29er hardtail, I think it was a momsen which they were selling for super cheap. around R15000.00 I think mail them on info(at)hotspotcycles.co.za not sure of the sizes etc

the problem with the Velo club, I am a member and I ride with them every week, is that some of the guys ride like idiots.. on the way out its fine, but on the way back we hit peak morning traffic, the guys are ridding 2 abreast down graham (which becomes Lynwood) there is hardly space for single cars to pass each other...n I have seen MANY close shaves, its a matter of time... we aren't blameless! Disclaimer: I am not saying Johan was at all in the wrong, I am referring to the specific comment re the Velo club.

I saw in other news on Twitter this morning that another 6WEEK old baby was raped in some place in the Northern Cape WTF - if they cant sort MAJOR INSANE HATEFULL crimes like this, how will they sort out the taxis (and the general population) driving around like idiots...

haha - I do the same - I buy boxes of them at a time, there was a special the other day at dischem R40 for 2 boxes - bought loads of them.. cant help myself if they are there..

Water with Gels and bars of your choice is the next best option.. I also get upset if I use stuff I am not used to.. I use USN products at the moment (crazy expensive) but it seems to work for me.. try out a few and see which works best..

yip did the race, was a toughie, the swim was a bit longer, apparently 1670m. bike was a toughie, wind and climbing. run was tough with those hills as well. enjoyed the race though, I have mailed the organisers to find out when and where the results will be available, will post here if I find out. now time to recover for Rockman this weekend..

Road - Tuesday and Thursday Velo club goes out, Tuesday can be brutal(36-38 ave), Thursdays are easy (32-35 ave) start at 5:30, done by 7:15 latest.

Hey JC, lekker to see someone in a hubber Kit - super race, was blessed to be able to ride it with my pops - had a great time with him - did my fair share of pushing him up the hills though.. ;-)

my dad went yesterday to get his garmin repaired, they said they would replace it with an edge 800 with a bit of a payin, he went all the way from Pretoria to their repair centre in Jhb and they didn't have stock, they phoned him later in the day and said they now had stock, he went back all the way today and when he got there, they didn't have any stock again... this is very poor service and a waste of time, he will have to go back for a 3rd trip when they eventually get stock!! its 120 km for a round trip to their repair centre X 3

some of the cops were a bit clueless, I was coming down the first hill and a cop stepped out in front of me, I managed to dodge him to the right - close call..
