  1. anyone know where will the results be available?
  2. haha, got a nice trisuit tan, but luckily not too red.. i saw the one girl that was knocked over just after it happened, shame she was in agony lying with her bike in pieces and lying right next to, almost half under the car.. she was crying from the pain and shock. i luckily got through the bad traffic early, got stopped only once on the way back.. great event, really enjoyed it. first triathlon since I was 16 years old and managed a 11th place in my age category - happy with that.. BRING ON THE ROCKMANXTRI!
  3. so how did everyone go out there? swim course was 2.1 apparently - a little off the 1.5 it was meant to be, oh well, good training. my left goggle kept filling with water, couldn't get a good rhythm at all.. bike was crazy tough the last 8 km with that headwind. run was a nice easy course.
  4. "The biggest surprise, is that people are still surprised"
  5. if the temp allows it I will be in my wetsuit..
  6. I have the same and I removed the crank and checked the BB which was fine... cleaned and put new grease, but sound was still there.. turned out being my skewer at the back, the one side didn't have the spring in, with swapping between the IDT, I was too lazy to go upstairs to get the spring, so rode a while without it....I put the spring back and the click was gone.. it could be something as simple as that...
  7. Nice one, my mate used to live there, great spot, went out paddling on the lagoon and out the mouth with him a few times.. Most underrated part of Cape Town - best Views..
  8. is that lagoonbeach?
  9. If you stop feeding them, they will go out and "find" food - think a bit before commenting bud..
  10. http://carteblanche.dstv.com/storysubmission here is the link to submit a story, suggest the guy who had his helmet shot should maybe submit it..
  11. I dont think everyone knows about the shootings, this road and area is very popular for cyclists, there are loads of cyclists in the east of pretoria. the word needs to be spread so that everyone knows of the danger..
  12. 4th incident?? does someone need to die before the cops do something about this?
  13. anyone got places for 2 bikes to take down from pta to W2W and back? sorry, that would be for the race.
  14. Its crazy expensive.. I do most of my training now on my road bike, I couldn't handle the cost of replacing bearings, tyres, chain rings, cassettes etc.. the mud and dust kills the parts.. road riding was always more dangerous, but i go out with Velo club in the mornings and i would rather brave the traffic then brave savages with guns on the MTB...
  15. the big question is, why don't they all share their results and come up with a uniform ranking system throughout the country. (answer is MONEY) then there would be a lot less "rigmarole" I understand your frustration, but hey they aren't gonna get 30000 seedings right..
  16. I think the R150 is to discourage people from trying to reseed. if they made it free, EVERYONE outside VA,VB etc would ask for a reseed...
  17. so where are you currently seeded and where do you want to be reseeded? how many people ride the race 30K odd? if a third want reseeding, it will be a mammoth task, I do not envy them and would also be in a bad mood ;-)
  18. Wind starts off ok, but increases quickly as the day carries on.. gonna be a tough finish..
  19. the race Is all about the second 50km - you may feel good and think this is easy all the way to the halfway mark ( I have done this before) but then the climb starts, not steep, but a constant drag for the whole second half pretty much, with wind which will kill you. Do yourself a favour and take it extra easy the first half, if you don't the second half will kill you. I threw up ( a few times) after the race one year it was so tough... Oh and I was lucky one year to start in B bunch I think it was and we got sent on a nice extra 10km loop at the start, so ended up doing 115km.. eina..
  20. There should be a rule to make people write their race numbers on their gels and bar wrappers etc before the race...
  21. Agree - the trails are tough, but it's what makes MTB great.. Put a bit more training in and the technical bits are more manageable.. Rather choose to enjoy the rough stuff.. If you aren't strong enough, don't moan about the trails, put more work in..
  22. Tough race this - I think the fact that they said it was easier than VG caught a few riders out. VG has a nice start to get your legs warm before the climbs, yesterday it was hard from the start. Starting B batch and catching all the ladies on the single track climbs was a bit of a pain, but hey, it can't all be perfect. One thing I really wasn't happy about was the water at the waterpoints, filled my bottles twice with water and it tasted contaminated with diesel or petrol. Not very nice at all..
  23. agree, Squirt sweat sucker - they have them at Solomons works extremely well.
  24. Got a full entry going... mate of mine cant ride.. first to PM me gets it.. Just need to do a sub at registration, shouldn't cost you anything..
