  1. To get a cheap frame, as budget is non existent at the moment. My son is studying and we paying for it without a loan.
  2. The weather this week makes it a no no. Need to look at a SS so I don't wear out the drivetrain with all the mud. Only dit 11/2 days last week.
  3. I run 700x38 on my CX bike. It is the biggest the rear can take and only just clears. On the roads I ride it is ok, but not ideal, roads just to corrugated. Waiting for my son to bring his Giant talon home December. Want to convert it into a monstercross. The volume as said above is of greater importance than the width of the tyre. Don't be afraid to just go and ride, you can get pretty far on 35 or 38c tyres.
  4. I do like, maybe next year will be new bike time!
  5. Thanks for this! Now there are heaps of ideas in my head, pity no money in my wallet for it.
  6. Morning, I just spoke to our suplier. It seems that this model was not rated to tow, so no towbar available. It seems a roof option would be your best bet. Hope you find a solution.
  7. Our shop does towbar fitment. I can check tomorrow at work what is available for it. Where are you located? I can then try and point you in the right direction.
  8. Well done on the Brother Kepler frame. I also had my eyes on it, but my bank balance said no to that idea. I have also run 10sp shifter with 9sp rear derailleur and can confirm it works. Enjoy the build.
  9. Afternoon commute home!
  10. I only have good things to say about rapide. Brilliant service and fast shipping. I live in Polokwane. Ordered some parts from them a while back at around 3:30 in the afternoon, had it in my hand before 10:00 the next morning! Pity their range is not that big otherwise I would not look anywhere else. Bikemarket was ok, shipping just took longer than expected. Cyclelab service was also good.
  11. I was a bit disappointed by bikemarket. Put in order and payment on Tuesday last week for to CX tyres. Was hoping to have them before the weekend. It took them until Thursday to respond. This after sending a couple of emails. Pick up from Joburg only happened Friday morning and only received tyres on Tuesday late afternoon. Just before 5, when we close. I am use to service from Rapide which at the longest was 2 days. Normally next day.
  12. As above. Been running my hardtail like that for 3 years. Enjoy
  13. A pity, have been eyeing their ATB frame on Facebook and not finding it on their local site. Seems to tick a lot of boxes for me. Will keep an eye out!
  14. I also started commuting again this week. Been of the bike for about 2 months. Just been to tired and with no races to train for, I just had no motivation. Did 30km on Monday and Wednesday. Hoping to do another commute tomorrow. Good to be back on the bike, but my body did feel it. Took me an hour and 15min on Wednesday evening, where it is normally a 50min ride.
  15. Hi, welcome, good advice above. I am the same height, but do have long legs. I ride a large, around 18 to 19 inch frame. Enjoy!
  16. Must say, I have been a wimp this year. Have hardly ridden at all the last month. Between the cold and dark, combined with total fatigue from work. Will see when I will start riding again. Not a normal year for anyone.
  17. Have used both the Sunrace and Shimano cassettes. No problems either way. Running an 11-42 with a 34 front oval.
  18. Have not entered any events this year. Normally commute to work to stay fit. Finding it hard to get up and on the bike this year and finding myself taking the car more than usual. Also not helping that we short staffed and working our butts off. And wife has been home and finding things to be done around the house. As they say no rest for the wicked!!! Should go for a ride this afternoon. I was hoping to do the Magoeba trek and the Kremetart this year.
  19. Alcohol is a major problem in this country. I work at a tyre fitment centre in Polokwane, yesterday at 9 in the morning. Customer in a new Amarok V6, pulls onto lift to have tyre repaired. Before getting out the car finishes a bottle of beer. This at 9 in the morning! This is suppose to be educated people! Makes a person wonder!
  20. Can fully agree here. Have been watching some of his episodes on YouTube and really liking it.
  21. So terrible, really angers a person. Condolences to those left behind!
  22. Nice. Been of the bike for the last 2 weeks. Been just to busy, both at work with skeleton staff and work at home. Wife tiled the house and I had to redo doors and other jobs after work. Hopefully back riding on Monday.
  23. We started work this past week. I commuted 4 days. It was less of a hassle then taking the car. I was not stopped on my bike, however in the car I was. Have my permit on me the whole time. The less I have to interact with people the better. Pity I can't get away from people at work. There are so many morons around and people that just don't care about keeping distance. Going to be "fun" the next couple of months.
  24. Started commuting to work again yesterday. Got permit and working half day at the moment. Been off my bike for a month and can feel it. I am not big into music but have had a thing for symphonic metal of late. Have a listen to Nightwish. They have just released a new album "Human Nature" awesome in my view.
