  1. Shailene Woodley. Never really noticed her before but she made me laugh when she told an interviewer that she doesn't own a TV and prefers reading books when she was at the Emmys, where she was nominated to receive an award for best supporting actress in a limited series.
  2. Yeah, think I might watch Ong Bak again as well, sometime this week. I've seen him here and there, mostly in Hollywood stuff like Furious Seven and XXX: Return of Xander Cage. Seems like he and Vin Diesel took a liking to each other. I see on IMDB they're making an Ip Man: Side Story movie, in which he has a role.
  3. Watched Thank You for Smoking (2005) again last night. Still one of the better movies ever made, imo. 8/10. Then watched The Protector (2005) again, just to see Tony Jaa fly through the air and knee bad guys in the face. I never get tired of watching that. 7/10.
  4. Got a new hamper today.
  5. Nope. Not going to, either. About as far away from the kind of movies I enjoy as it's possible to get, judging by the trailer.
  6. Watched the first two episodes. Promising, but slow.
  7. Bacon. It's good for you. http://pa1.narvii.com/5776/78de256cbd71d6273384cafe5507297571ee08b5_hq.gif
  8. Finished the Faithful and the Fallen series by John Gwynne. Fantastic series, but definitely not for novice fantasy readers. First of all, the books are HUGE, varying from 650 to 800 pages per book. Second, the cast is gigantic (literally, it has giants) and especially at the beginning it is difficult to keep track of who's who in this zoo, with the names of regions, castles, clans and characters all thrown at you with the speed of a charging wolven (like a wolf, but bigger and smarter). Third, Gwynne shifts the pov with every chapter which can be disorienting if you're not completely familiar with all the characters yet. However, once you get over those bumps it becomes a dizzying, stomach-clenching ride full of twists and turns, quite capable of leaving you breathless, with adrenaline pumping and holding on for dear life.
  9. The Abyss (1989). Directed by James Cameron, won Oscar for Best Visual Effects. http://i.imgur.com/4WqIUd8.gif
  10. Well, that was fun to watch. http://i.perezhilton.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/negan-smashy-smashy.gif
  11. I remember going to watch King's Sleepwalkers (starring Alice Krige) with a friend at the theater when it came out. Not the best movie I've ever seen (not even close), but I still vividly recall how deliciously shocked my friend and I were at the scene where mother and son were revealed to be be ... (gasp) ... !
  12. Yeah, that might be it. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  13. Yeah, no, bugger that. I don't if it was IT, the book or the series - but I feel about clowns the way Lord Vetinari feels about mimes. "Vetinari banned all mime performances from Ankh-Morpork shortly after taking power. Mime artists who violate the ban usually find themselves hanging upside down in Vetinari's scorpion pit while reading a sign saying "Learn the Words"."

  15. Baby Driver (2017) 7/10. I really enjoyed it and understand why it's getting such rave reviews. Edgar Wright is a brilliant director and BD is obviously a labour of love. I would have preferred it to end a little stronger, even though Wright's ending is probably more sensible and realistic. I'll have no hesitation in recommending Baby Driver. 16. Remember, I'm talking under correction here so I'll have to confirm with my brother later... I'm looking at their deals on their website and from what I can remember we got: 4 x 500g Mince4 x 500g Boerewors*4 x 500g Tenderised Steak4 x 500g Hamburger Patties4 x 5 x 100g Prego Steaks4 x 500g Goulash...I can't remember what else we got. It looks like the September hamper, so there might have been an August hamper. As you can see, the portions aren't huge (500g wors, 500g mince, etc) but it works out great if you're just two guys, since you get 4 portions of each. It's good quality and vacuum sealed. The wors, patties and surprisingly the tenderised steaks were standouts. Wors thick and juicy, patties generous and the tenderised steaks large enough that we could cut it in two. You might get better if you shop around and source everything from different places, or if you have a really fantastic local butcher, but for value for money we were happy enough that we'll definitely buy from them again. The main thing, of course, is that we didn't buy any high-end quality meats from them. Therefore I can't speak for them when it comes to the pricier cuts. Here is a photo of what we have left, with a mustard sauce bottle to compare for size. The pregos in the middle are unfrozen, as we're having them tonight.
  17. Cool. Obviously I can't speak for the quality of anything we haven't tried but for two bachelors it was a good value for money deal. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  18. IIRC my brother got the 16 Meal Deal. Very happy with it. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  19. I'm always scared about using whole or half lemons. I used to try stuffing them in a chicken before roasting it in the oven and quite a few times I got a really bitter taste. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  20. The Exige looks like fun as well. http://www.lotuscars.com/sites/default/files/Exige%20Sport%20350_0.png

  22. Saw a post on Facebook: If you could only buy cars starting with the letter of your first name what would you buy? I'd probably go with a Lexus for daily commutes, a Lamborghini for those weekend fun-runs and a Land Rover Sport for the trips to the Kruger Park and the Drakensbergs. (Yes, I am assuming I have LOTS of money.)
  23. You have some explaining to do, Canada.
  24. Yes! Finally got my pork belly damn near perfect this weekend. Prep: Criss-cross cut the fat on top. Rub spice (I used coarse salt, some brown sugar, paprika, touch of peri and five-spice). In oven dish, cover with foil. Four hours on 140 Celsius. Remove foil, heat grill to medium, place belly in middle of oven. Check you don't burn the crackling, about 5 minutes. Remove from oven, place on tray and slice into pieces. Delicious! I might try pouring some lemon juice in the bottom of the dish before I bake next time, to add some flavour to the meat.
  25. This is why I don't go to movie theaters anymore.
