  1. Aha... that's me to T. I anticipate getting dropped for exactly the same reason and as I say I'm also lacking the short bursts that surges require at the moment. I've entered anyway and I don't mind 4 hour time trials, it's just the feeling of watching everyone disappear over the roller i don't like.
  2. That looks like very good value ...
  3. @Lizelle CarstensWould love to see the route for the marathon if it's available please.
  4. I'm thinking about entering the WP league event on 19 January in Philadelphia and wondering how competitive the various Cats are - I'm fairly fit - have a best CTCT of 3hrs11 - current FTP is 3,6 watts/kg - probably lacking in 1 through 5 minute power punches at the moment because of the kind of riding I've been doing - is Cat 3 the right one for me? 72km seems quite short so I'm tempted to go for Cat 2 which does 2 laps although I suspect that might be a bit ambitious - Thoughts?
  5. The irony is that to get to Woodbridge I will have to brave the cycle path... perhaps I'll run the koeberg interchange gauntlet.
  6. Who is organizing it?
  7. Also keen to know

    CHAN

First 2 comments are correct. The medium is too big for someone your height. If you bought it new from.a shop I think they should be forced to take it back and refund or provide the correct size which is probably a small or maybe even an Xtra small depending on brand.
  9. Yes doable on your own. Generally plenty of people about. While not very technically challenging, I wouldn't call it a beginner's ride. From newlands side it is quite steep in parts and the single track section above kirstenbosch can be a little tricky if wet.
  10. If on a mtb or gravel road it's worth using botterberg dirt road.
  11. Ja This!!. A little bit of proper.police work would clean up the problem and also improve the situation for the impoverished people setting up their camp there.
  12. And don't forget.to put a brake blocker on....
  13. @Wannabeits not the kind of post that ages well in a public forum. Rather remove it is my advice. Ja people are gatvol, myself included but we can't be advocating even in jest for further calamity.
  14. Ja reckon I'm goingnto keep avoiding it for the foreseeable

    The Munga

Just a sense the munga is going to grow enormously..... and I would also say, but not too loudly, it is extremely well priced for what it is. I hope that growth doesn't change the nature of the event though.
  16. Has anyone ridden over the Woodstock bridge or done the n1 drag recently?
  17. I have a forza strap from takealot... no problems a year in. Better than wahoo straps which destudded themselves after 6 months
  18. And trek has the wave cell doo Dat but it's quite heavy I find. And I also think met stops airflow so the turbines that give me a cool head don't work properly. Mips was the first of these rotational systems I think.
  19. Yes. Dual use so watch out for hikers and runners.
  20. Hmmmm... international pros in open seeded. There goes my podium. Here's last year's race report in a shameless blog punt https://mamil.co.za/race-report-tour-du-cap-2024/
  21. I suppose if 8 people show up you've got no risk and no overheads apart from the website and a strava membership to create the route file and you've made 20k. There are 5 events and if you get 8 people per event that's 100k with no overheads and minimal time investment so you sort of do have a side hustle. I'd love for someone who does pay the entry fee to post here and talk about what happens ....
  22. I still don't get it - I love long distance riding and I love new routes but now the website invites a 3k annual membership less 25% limited time special and I get a gpx file and an ethic about no support, riding in isolation, no drafting unless I'm with mates and an appeal to keep this non rule rulebook to myself and not to share the routes which are on on public land anyway. I'm also told that the events I am doing keep me within my boundaries .... And there's an affiliate programme that bike shops can join. I love spending money on bike events and bike gear and bikes but this looks like a kind of post modern business model where there isn't actually a product or a service - just a brand.
  23. Tour du cap!!!! Can't wait. Going to be my 3rd one. I think I was 5th or 6th in unseeded open last year .... This year I'm aiming for a podium. Please note ... Anyone in a pure savage jersey please note.... Compulsory entry to age group racing bunch. No open unseeded savages please
  24. One of the 3 percent possibly. They are legion
  25. It's worth bearing in mind that 3% of the USA population meets the criteria for anti-social personality - so 3 out of every 100 people in the GenPop " consistently shows no regard for right and wrong and ignores the rights and feelings of others. People with antisocial personality disorder tend to purposely make others angry or upset and manipulate or treat others harshly or with cruel indifference. They lack remorse or do not regret their behavior." Arguably the social conditions of our country could increase this number. Considering that as a cyclist on a 5 hour ride around the peninsula my varia radar reports that I could encounter 1000 cars approaching from behind, the stat suggests that 30, perhaps even 40 of them behave as described. Add to that those antisocial personalities that are actively criminal and congregating in Woodstock at the moment. Sobering. Chilling actually
